What Pool company not to ever use
Wanted to share my negative experience with big company called Pool Decks of Tampa which is also known as Pool Decks of St. Pete they're the same company just different numbers. I hired this company to redo my original cool deck and patio at my house. We scheduled to work to be done on November 6th -8th 2025. I paid the owner CJ 4 installments of $1,000 each less to be paid during the work was completed. The owner CJ showed up the first day with his son in another worker that's the last time I ever saw the owner... his son and the other worker started and completed the job. On the 8th of November the 2 workers came get me & let me know the job was done. They asked me to take a look at it and I said well okay can I walk on it and see if they said no it's still wet it won't be walkable and walkable till sometime that night... I immediately voicemail the owner CJ as well as send him a text that I was not able to walk the perimeter of the deck because it was still wet and that I would have to check it out tomorrow and that I would take pictures of any flaws or problems I saw the patio/deck... I also told them that I did give them the last payment of $1,000 because I trusted them and we work well together and I didn't feel like I should hold it from him.... Well that was the biggest mistake I made... He wrote me back saying no problem at all but then trying to schedule their return to fix the problems I saw was a whole other matter it wasn't until November 24th that the owners and j finally gave me this day that he personally would be out with his son in the other worker to walk up for another day and then address the problem... Well the time you gave me nobody showed up so I texted him and was told that he was down to workers and wasn't going to show up but now we're going to have to be Friday the 28th after Thanksgiving keep in mind this pool was started on the 6th completed on the 8th now we're at the end of the month. Can you buy my text I wasn't happy with that so then he said he would try to fit me in on Wednesday the 26th. One of the workers not the owner and his son like I was promised just one worker showed up with (no lie) a paint brush that was about an inch wide... Told me that's all he brought he was here for touch up I told him he'll be here for the next three days with that little brush we want the entire deck and patio his words to me were that the entire deck and patio definitely needed a third coat of paint so if I would go buy 3 gallons of the paint he would come back tomorrow at 11:00am and put another coat on the deck and the patio for $100.
I told him that he was the professional along with the owner and his son and that should have been in the original big you would know better than me how many coats of paint my deck should have needed but at this point I just said I want to get this over with I would like to get my furniture back on the deck like just do it... Well he was a no-show I waited and waited it got to be about 11:45 I finally got a text from him saying he wasn't going to show up that the owner asked him to work today and then he would try to fit me in possibly next week that was it for me... Lessons learned: #1) Do Not ever hire this company Pool Decks of Tampa or Pool Decks of St. Pete FL.
#2 no matter how trustable you think a contractor or company is do not give them a final payment until you definitely check out their work and 100% approve of it... I told the owner this after I had to wait forever to get if he's somebody else to take a look at the mistakes that if I had not paid him even $500 or the entire
$1000 He would have been out here within 2 days to finish my project and to get his money... His reply was that he just didn't have any work in my area or any estimates planned in St Pete(seriously so I guess that you didn't have anything for the next two or three months I have to wait that long it makes no sense. Lastly the other thing that bothered me was when he came over to give me a big one of the first things he said was don't worry we definitely will cover your pool throughout the project ...well they didn't do that either I asked him why because I had all kinds of stuff floating in my pool and plaster /dirt /dust... The owners reply oh sometimes it's just more trouble than it's worth the cover falls into the pool blah blah blah
Worst company terrible customer service don't ever use these people you'll regret it
