My purchase came quickly, well packaged. The paints are great with one small comment - the white seems to be a tad thin so I had to do several coats for it to stand out enough.

Delivery in about an 48 hours, well packed, no additional delivery fee. I could have ordered from Amazon at the same price but I thought give the Amazon costs to Polyvine.

Excellent

Excellent - as good as and better than expected. The Magenta colour added to the heavy duty internal varnish re-finished the table to a great and colourful finish.

metallic gold enamel paint won't take to green enamel

I bought green and metallic gold acrylic enamel 'multi surface paint' for my model stationary steam engine. I painted it with the green then tried to line it out with the gold - which wouldn't take to the green. I tried lightly abrading the required area to no avail. Customer services recommended over painting with emulsion paint??? or buying a pen. So, is metallic gold paint useless?

Dear Peter, our metallic gold paint is a surface paint, which you could build up layers of to achieve fuller coverage. It is not designed to create finer detail, which is what you're looking for with your model steam engine. That is why our customer service team recommended a metallic detailing pen to achieve the look you want. The recommendation of emulsion paint as a base is if you wanted a less translucent gold colour, but this applies to coverage of a larger area, not for detailing.

Poor coverage and expensive delivery charge

The paints were bought to repaint a metal village sign and the coverage was not very good. Marks still show through. Also, the £15 delivery charge was completely out of proportion to the size of the bottles purchased. I tried to find a local stockist but these paints were not stocked by the local Polyvine stockist.

Hi there, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. I believe you are talking about metallic paint, which can be slightly translucent , and therefore we do recommend using a base coat of a similar colour tone to prevent that from happening. Since this order, we have reviewed our carriage charge, which has been reduced to £10. Availability in your local stockist is out of our hands, but lots of Polyvine stockists will order in for you if you request it. We're sorry you had this experience, but in the future, please do contact our customer services team, as we may be able to help and advise. Thank you

Multi Surface Satin lacquer poor finish

New style Multi Surface Satin lacquer is very thin and watery and many many coats need to be applied to give a protective finish and even then the finish is not good. It is more time consuming and more expensive to use. As a sole trader who has been using Polyvine Crystal Clear Lacquer for a long time without any issues I am really disappointed with this product. It feels to me as though it is a cost cutting exercise by Polyvine to water the product down. Customer Services did respond however they weren’t particularly helpful and I needed to follow up as they hadn’t responded to my email.

I will using another brand of product going forwards for my businesses requirements.

Dear Sharon, we understand your frustration and therefore wanted to explain in a response. We understand our sales office and laboratory have already dealt with this and checked the batch of multi surface lacquer you are querying, and everything is as it should be at our end. We 100% guarantee that nothing has changed in the formula - all we did was rebrand the product from crystal clear lacquer to multi surface lacquer. We have no control over what happens to the product once it leaves our warehouse, as I understand you bought this from an online seller. Our understanding is that you were unhappy with the gloss of the finish, however you have stated above you are using a satin product. You would need to use the gloss product for the full gloss finish. Customer services have informed me that the results from the lab did take a little longer than normal and we are sorry you had to chase us for an answer. We will rectify this internally. Our sales office will be in touch with you directly again to offer you a replacement product sent directly to your from our head office. Once again, we are sorry for your experience, and we hope we can change your mind about the quality of this product. Kind regards, Polyvine

I like the strength and tones of the pigments in both the acrylic and oil colourants. The sizes are handy and sturdy containers, especially the aluminium oil colours.
Also well packaged and speedy delivery.

Decorators varnish

I contact polyvine for information and advice and have found their customer service exceptional, very knowledgeable on their products and uses.

I used the decorators varnish to give the paintwork in the schools and nursery’s that I have worked in over the summer hardwearing (child proof!!!). I can’t recommend this product highly enough. I’m now telling all of my customers about it. Thank you polyvine

Application advice

I phoned Polyvine for some application advice before I used the heavy duty wood varnish and spoke to Tammy, who was really helpful and gave me some useful advice to ensure my application technique was correct. Would always advise to give them a ring if you have any questions it really helped me.

I used polyvine dead flat varnish on my wallpaper, thinking that, as promised on the bottle, it would provide invisible protection against damage.
I followed the instructions, testing on a small piece of the paper first and all seemed ok, but the following day when the varnish had completely dried, it had left horrible white streaks all over the wallpaper.
I contacted Polyvine to ask for their advice and I received an email today telling me that I can try varnish remover, but if that doesn’t work, the wallpaper will “have to be removed”! I had told them in my email that the wallpaper has been discontinued. They have taken no interest or responsibility in helping me solve a problem they have caused. Avoid this terrible company and product!

Update:
It’s now 9 days after Polyvine reply, but still no useful conclusion! No offer of a refund or anything helpful whatsoever. This has cost me time and money and left me with a spoiled finish on my previously lovely room!
