Pleasance & Harper began as a small business in 1879, trading from premises in Wine Street, Bristol. The company as it is now came in to being in 1919 when the original Mr Harper’s three sons came into the business and expanded the company opening shops throughout Wales, the Midlands and the West Country. Over the years the business was consolidated with the sale of a number of the shops. The recession of the 1990’s saw the business reduced to one store – Hereford – but the standing and reputation of this shop enabled the company to ride the recession and establish itself once more. In 1997 Mark, the fourth generation of Harpers brought new life to the business when he joined his father in the trade. After the death of first his Uncle Michael, then his father Anthony, Mark took over as chairman. He continues to uphold the principles set by his great grandfather at the beginning – the importance of family values. Following the opening of a second shop in 2010 Pleasance & Harper now offer an exciting and wide range of traditional and modern jewellery, timepieces and giftware, including brands such as Omega, Tag Heuer and Links of London. Alongside this they offer jewellery and watch repairs and an expert valuation service.

I am extremely satisfied with my experience with Pleasance & Harper. Whenever I am local to Hereford, I always pop in and fantasise about owning some of their watches. But until much recently, that dream has become a reality. My fiancée treated me to the Hamilton Khaki Field Murph Auto 42mm Bracelet Bundle for our engagement to one another, and I am absolutely over the moon with it.
I keep telling her how incredible this watch is and how awesome this watch is that it was heavily featured in Christopher Nolan’s ‘Interstellar’ movie.

I ordered wrong strap. Spoke to someone who suggested I send back and also send watch so they could check and fit the correct one. All done within a few days. Couldn’t have been more helpful.

Unbelievably useless and unprofessional
Every visit has been long winded and unhelpful.
I looked a pair of earring with bent and twisted shanks and commented on this as a problem only to be told they were called banana shanks! How ridiculous and dishonest of the sales assistant.
I also asked for a quote to have by 9 ct bracelet clasp replaced and a different assistant went off and came back with a figure of £350. All I could do was to laugh with disbelief. I then went to a reputable jeweller who replaced the clasp for £42
