To put it politely, ABSOLUTE S H I T E!!!!! crashed game mid event, last weekend, taken until today to find a fix to enable game to be played! One star is more than they deserve!

All ok :)
Ordered several items on Sunday and they arrived on Thursday.
I paid extra for 1st class delivery and annoyingly they weren't dispatched until Wednesday but they all arrived intact and well packaged within a reasonable timescale.
Ordering was easy and the prices of the items were very competitive.
Would use again :)
Item not as described and poor FAQ // returns policy
Getting fed up with online companies selling inferior goods to unsuspecting public. Be warned, you can't see the product before hand so don't believe everything you read.
Bought a brand new CD, (Pink - Greatest Hits) and it didn't come in its original case - just a paper sleeve. I bought it as a present and my mum wasn't too impressed, she thought I had got it second hand off of eBay!!
When you then search their website for answers, you either have to return the item (impossible seeing as I have already given it as a birthday present) or accept the fact that they are not advertising their products correctly. Not impressed.
I agree, absolutely disgusting!!
Really disappointed with Play.com. They cancelled my preorder of Assassin's Creed for my husband on the day of release! No explanation, I had to chase them up about it and apparently they just decided they weren't going release it. They must have let so many people down. Absolutely terrible company, I would not recommend them.
This shouldn't be allowed!
Disgusting Service
I Pre-Odered an item near 3 weeks before release, Half way through the day of release they send me an email saying they are out of stock and have been since the 21st 2 days before the item hit the market and have refunded my money. Why could they not send this email on the 21st that way i could have purchased elsewhere at the same price now today it has trebled in price. I will never shop here again.
Please avoid play.com- full of rogue sellers. No assistance from play.com to obtain refund
I bought a book from play.com 6 weeks ago, which I never received. The seller has not responded to a single one of my emails. I have tried to get the refund from play.com. using their online form gets no response. I tried calling them on their ridiculously expensive 0845 number, holding on the line for 15 minutes before getting through to an agent, only to be told that I will need to wait a further 3 working days and on the fourth working day I will get a refund. This is already after waiting 15 days and raising numerous claims using their online service which says after 3 working days, they will offer you a refund. Fifth working day I sent them an email, no response as usual. 7th working day I called them, only to be told they have to raise a claim with the Head Office for a refund, which should be processed in ANOTHER THREE WORKING DAYS. That passed. Called them again the following week. Said they do not know what the hold up is, will check and email me later. Nothing. Have been sending emails every few days since then trying to get my refund, but play.com's customer services have not responded to a single one of my emails, possible 8 have been sent now, to help me get this refund from one of their sellers. I have no spend more on the phone calls than the worth of the book as I only have a mobile and they are in Jersey. The few quid you save from ordering from this site is not worth changing it over. And besides, if we don't collectively boycott organisations like these that treat customers in that way, then they will never change. Stand up for what's right and spend your money elsewhere with a company that offers excellent customer service like amazon or ebay.
AVIOD!,AVIOD! AVIOD! GOING DOWN HILL FAST. DON'T RISK IT.
GAME NEVER ARRIVED. NO REPLY TO MANY E MAILS AND TELEPHONE CALLS.
THEY TREATED ME WITH CONTEMPT AND I WILL USE MANY OF THE OTHER ALTERNATIVE COMPANIES IN FUTURE. THEY USED TO BE OK BUT NOT ANYMORE DON'T RISK IT IS MY ADVICE
terrible customer services and poor sub companies
After ordering a game in good time for my son birthday i realised a few days before i still had not recieved it!! as it did not arrive by my sons birthday 10 days later. i gave the supplier bad feedback to which he sent a lovely email stating it a family business and was very sorry asking me to remove the feedback and he will refund me for my troubles and keep the game!! I did this but never recieved the game and when i contacted the supplier he was not so friendly. i would never use this company again full of cowboys suppliers.
Terrible experience, which ended up costing me more money
I ordered a Nikon D800 from Play in February March. They were trying to match the price of Amazon, which had gone down considerably at the time. After just 3 months of waiting they cancelled the order, saying that they could no longer get the product. A month before that I had wrong up Play and have been assured that Play would not do this by the staff. In the end I paid over £300 more elsewhere for the product and £200 than I would if I had ordered the camera from somewhere else.
I will never use Play again and would advise others not to, as I have had some other bad experiences with them not getting products in before.
Poor, slow customer service...
I've been using Play for years and until now have never had a problem with the site or had a need to contact their customer services. However, recently a bug seems to have developed on the site whereby I can only complete a purchase using a single means. For example, if I pay by card OR a single Play.com voucher, the purchase goes through fine...but if I use multiple vouchers or a voucher plus card combination the purchase simply fails. This wouldn't be such a big problem if I didn't have so many vouchers to use...as a Play.com credit card holder, I get loads due to the reward scheme.
This is where the problem begins...the customer service team aren't particularly useful. They just don't seem to care that one of their customers has effectively had their account rendered unusable. I've had conversations about this problem with about 4 different people now, promised emails/ calls back which I never receive and end up chasing...and the problem still continues to this day after about 2 months, despite the customer service team supposedly escalating it. Very poor to say the least.
Might be time for me to use Amazon and change to their credit card instead....
How do they give free delivery on everything??
Excellent online service, I buy from play.com time and time again! Highly recommend to any one, fast and free delivery on everything... Not sure how they pull that off but nice one!
Gone down hill fast
This site used to be the best but after they got my order wrong twice I had to send items back. They also took money for an item not in stock and it stayed out of stock for a year, and the delivery has now become very slow. I've stopped using them altogether now.
Rakuten have tarnished this once great retailer.
i have to agree with a similar review on here. i purchased wrestlemania 19 for the nintendo gamecube off play back in september 2003 because it was the cheapest price i'd ever seen for a new video game. i used them more and more as they were constantly and consistently cheaper than high street shops. this continued for along time. I must say, i do not care for PLAY trade. you look for an item and find a list of sellers and sometimes play doesn't even show up in the list. it's too ebay for me.
Since being acquired by the Rakuten group, they have not had as much business from me for a few reasons. firstly, you can't speak to a human anymore. if you do, it's a ball ache to find (i think) the premium rate number only to be put through to a call centre where their native language certainly isn't english. this isn't the gripe here, but they certainly aren't as helpful as an english call centre as they seem to be reading a script and sass you a bit.
i've had a total number of 2-3 items go missing in the post. royal mail has a reputation for thieving arseholes within it's company, so it's hard when play give you the runaround to get a new item or a refund sent out. even more frustrating when you have to ring them and they have no recollection of a lost item claim being placed.
there are better companies out there. for games, it's shopto.net, highly recommended. for dvd's zavvi, hmv or amazon.
free delivery not always worth the aggro
I shop at play.com and have had some easy transactions and some which made me think twice about using them, they are great value have some fab offers and free delivery a definite plus, but I have had faulty items ( which are such a hassle to get sorted), missing orders, over all an up and down experience with them, I do still shop with them so they must be doing something right but I am a sucker for a bargain ......
dreadful waste of time
I will never shop here again. They messed up my order and made it SO HARD to sort out I wasted hours and hours in fruitless endeavour. It would have been quicker to write and record my own album. Terrible customer service. Just AWFUL.
Poor services...
hi,
So I have make an pre-order. One day before release I make call and spoke with they customer service, employee said that I will get my order on release date, which is today unfortunately I haven't received my order (gonna give a call for customer service again tomorrow), and even tracking doesn't show too much, I've ask employee about that but she didn't could help me with that as well.
So: employee said that I will get order today, but I didn't, probably they send it with standard delivery instead of express and I wouldn't get my order even tomorrow...
EDIT 26/09 08:44: tracking updated at night that it's out for delivery, so probs I'm gonna receive it today. But I'm still not happy with the service, they use 24h delivery to provide me with ordered goods yesterday when was the release date.
Good prices but really slow delivery
The cost of the products was good, pretty cheap, but the delivery was way to long. Took over two weeks for one item. Was not happy.
Slightly Better Than Competitors But Could Definitely Improve.
The online shops that I tend to order from the most are Amazon or Play. Both are fairly equal in the way they package items (inappropriately) and deal with customer returns (very well).
Although Play has the edge over Amazon when it comes to packaging. Sometimes this is pure chance that the things I have ordered have come undamaged but when I order from Play they do make a little more effort to protect the shipment. And I have never had a book or any other item for that matter that has been damaged from them.
While Amazon usually have more products and are often better priced I feel safer ordering from Play. So I am willing to spend just a little more to go with them if they have what I am looking for. This means a lot because I do all my shopping online and I get really sick of sending things back because they simply aren't packaged properly for transit.
So if Play expand their range of products and match prices with Amazon I will favour Play. I really hope they take into consideration how they package products because they can improve vastly in this area as can Amazon and many other big online retailers.
Awesome!
Free delivery, do I have to say more? :)
Most of the times the price leader and very good handling.
I will continue to shop here!
Usually the cheapest for dvd's/cd's !!
I have never had a problem with them, easy site to use, always quick delivery!
Great store
Play is a great store. A wide range of items, great prices and good review options. Plus free delivery, which is awesome!
