My experience with PMGY in Bali was really rewarding, especially being able to teach English to children at a local school in Bali. The students were so always so welcoming and enthusiastic to learn from me and my colleagues. The PMGY team helped me with any questions I had regarding the trip and Akasa staff in Bali were really supportive and made settling into a completely new environment much easier. I also really enjoyed getting to experience Bali outside of volunteering, from exploring Canggu and other parts of the island to trying different activities and spending time with the other volunteers.
One of my favourite things about the experience was the balance between volunteering and having the freedom to explore Bali in my free time. Living there also gave me the opportunity to experience a different culture and meet people from different backgrounds.
I would definitely recommend the programme to anyone considering volunteering abroad, especially if you’re nervous about travelling somewhere new on your own. My biggest piece of advice would be to go into it with an open mind, don’t be afraid to get involved, and make the most of every opportunity because the time goes by so quickly, and you’ll meet so many new people.

I had the most amazing time with wildlife sense in Greece. It was a great opportunity to learn about turtles and give back to the planet alongside meeting wonderful people. All thanks to Plan My Gap Year through which I found this programme; they have been very helpful and responsive with any questions etc. as well as always being friendly. I would highly recommend their services to anyone!

As my first experience of volunteering abroad, PMGY was ideal for me and I would recommend it to anyone!
This is mainly because you are very followed and for every problem the staff (super kind) is ready to help.
I volunteered in Sri Lanka in the turtle conservation project and I think it's one of the best projects! Helping the sanctuary by feeding the turtles, cleaning the tanks and the beach has always been fun and instructive.
A plus are definitely all the afternoon and evening activities proposed, and the weekend trip! Perfect for discovering Sri Lanka :)
If you’re deciding whether to do it or not I recommend going! It’s gonna be a life changing experience! And don’t worry if you’re alone, you’ll meet a lot of great people in the volunteers house!

I stayed in Akasa house in Bali and it was amazing! It was really nice staying there and the childcare was really intense but really nice to do!

Great experience with the team! Would definitely recommend to anyone! Just wish we could’ve had some more specifics on information sometimes but that’s also part of the experience :)))

My friends and I took part in the turtle volunteering program in Sri Lanka at the start of August as our Duke of Edinburgh residential. This was definitely an experience that we will remember for the rest of our lives, not only from the amazing people we met, the memories made or how cared for we all felt at the London House. The staff and the organisation was truly perfect for our first time volunteering abroad as we had help available at all times. The range of evening activities was widely varied from cooking classes to water safaris, everyone is destined to find something to enjoy. Thank you PMGY!

I had an incredible experience in Greece. Met lovely people and had an amazing time, whilst feeling completely safe and supported in the process- start to end. I was involved in various educational activities but had plenty of down time which allowed me to connect with other people. The accommodation was basic but clean and comfortable. I 100% recommend this to any young person looking to add something to their CV and do something fun for the summer!

Amazing Staff, good pre-preperation, felt safe and in good hands at all times, good food - thank you for the vegan and Vegetation options, clean rooms. Only minus point were the showers. Besides that great night activities, and all in all great experience :) (was in Bali btw)

I cannot recommend this company enough for once in a lifetime trips. I used PMGY to go to Kefalonia and volunteer at a turtle conservation and every second of the trip was so special and magical. Thank you so much! 😊

I had the best time on the 4 week real Sri Lanka pmgy experience. I definitely would recommend this experience. We had a lovely tour guide throughout our 2 weeks travelling called Ishan who was absolutely amazing and is there to help with anything at all and made our trip the best it could possibly be. Then when at the volunteer house Melissa and Ash made sure we all felt at home and supported us with anything needed throughout. Overall this was the best thing I have ever done and would definitely recommend this experience.

I volunteered in Sri Lanka for 2 weeks in July 2026, and had the best trip of my life.
Everyone at PMGY Sri Lanka was so welcoming, and truly made the trip! Ash does an incredible job running London House, and was more than happy to help us organise our own half day Safari to see Elephants (so even aided in experiences not provided directly by PMGY). Melissa was also so organised, and approachable, always happy to help with whatever you needed.
Soni, who ran the turtle conservation project, was great to work with and honestly made volunteering so much fun. I had a great time feeding the turtles, cleaning the beaches and everything in between..
Free time activities were always led by what we wanted to do, and a good variety were offered.
Would highly recommend to everyone to volunteer in Sri Lanka with PMGY!!

I had an absolutely wonderful two weeks with Plan My Gap Year in India and would recommend the experience to anyone who wants to discover India in an authentic, safe, and meaningful way.
I took part in the Medical Program, which was very well organized and gave me so many opportunities to experience different areas of the Indian healthcare system. A very kind doctor accompanied us, showed us around, and explained everything in a way that made the experience both interesting and educational. I really appreciated being able to see different medical settings and get an insight into healthcare in India.
I also had the opportunity to join the Teaching Program in the mornings, which was one of the highlights of my trip. Spending time with the children, helping them, and being part of their everyday learning was such a special experience. It gave me a lot and created memories that I will never forget.
Beyond the programs themselves, PMGY made it possible for us to experience so much of Indian culture. We were even able to attend two Indian weddings, which was an incredibly special and authentic experience. We also visited local markets and had many opportunities to experience everyday life in India.
The accommodation was another highlight. I felt incredibly comfortable and welcomed throughout my stay, and there was such a warm, family-like atmosphere. Vishy took amazing care of all of us and really went above and beyond to make our stay as authentic and comfortable as possible. We enjoyed delicious, authentic Indian food almost every day, but Vishy also made sure we had familiar food sometimes, even ordering pizza or burgers for us. He was always kind, helpful, and there whenever we needed anything.
Vishy was also incredibly helpful when it came to organizing our weekend trips. We did the Golden Triangle, visiting Agra and the Taj Mahal, Jaipur (the Pink City), and Delhi, including the Spice Market. Everything was so well organized, and Vishy helped us make the most of every trip. We also visited Varanasi, which was another unforgettable and very authentic experience.
Overall, my two weeks in India were absolutely amazing. I learned so much about Indian culture, met wonderful people, gained valuable experience through the programs, and made memories that I will carry with me for a very long time.
I would choose PMGY India again without hesitation and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic, meaningful, and well-organized experience in India. I always felt safe, supported, and welcomed, while still having the freedom to explore and experience the country. For me, it was one of the best ways to experience India authentically while also doing something meaningful.

I spent 3 weeks volunteering at a hospital in Tanzania with Plan My Gap Year. We spent some time each day in the hospital, observing how healthcare happens in a completely different culture and environment and helping to support patients where possible.
A highlight of the trip was the 3-day safari, where we saw so many different animals. We also really enjoyed getting to know volunteers from other countries and spending our free time together enjoying the Tanzanian culture more generally.

The staff of pmgy are some of the best people you will ever meet. They are so kind, go out of their way for you and are so giggly lol. They make sure everyone has the best time, all the time. I did the three week medical program in Vietnam on the orthopedic surgery rotation. Best experience of my life. It’s a cultural shock for sure but so fun and you learn a lot. I will say that your experience in the medical program is extremely dependent on your rotation. From what I heard ortho is the most interactive. Some specialties are very scheduled and some are extremely up in the air all the time. Be ready to be flexible while taking in all the good you can and you’ll have an amazing time.

So I did the Real LifeThailand experience, which was a month long trip which flew by from all the activities and fun I was having out there. The group travelled all around the country showing different environments, culture and landscape each week. In every new area of Thailand we had multiple different activities such as cooking classes, visiting elephants sanctuaries, and going on boat trips through national parks. The country brought this sense of warmth through the people, amazing food and nature alone. Thailand is definitely one of the most beautiful countries I have ever seen. During my first week I volunteered in a school teaching English and the kids out there are all so happy and brought so much joy with them everywhere they went. I always looked forward going and teaching as it also brought me joy how grateful they were in the fact they were learning a new language. We played some Thai games and I taught them English ones, they learnt how to spell and say what all the different kinds of weather there are, all while having more lessons in Thai at the same time. Those kids were absolutely incredible and brought so much light and made the transition into being in a new country for a month so much easier.
