I had an incident when taking my little girl swimming and a member of staff, Dave Matthews I believe (reception staff, tall, Curtain styled hair and between 20 and 30 years of age) spoke to me, in fro... See more

Tried to book a party for my upcoming 7 year old. Was told it all had to be done online which I couldn't do, just wanted to know if the dates I required were available or not. Guess I'll be hosting her party elsewhere.
Seem to be unable to pick up the phone.
Please clean the changing rooms! We have been coming for months for swimming lessons and the changing rooms are constantly smelling of wee! We enjoy the lessons but the smell getting changed is so unpleasant!
Nobody picks up the phone what is the point in having a telephone line
My child has a swim lesson this afternoon. I had to cancel appointments to attend with her only to get there and was informed the lesson was cancelled. And they claimed to have informed all parents the day before which was not true as I received no mail, text or voicemail in respect to that.
That was not fair and they need to do better!
One the ladies who works here, Bee/Bea, has been helping me sort out a problem rescheduling a swimming session. Whilst she is constrained by policy, she was still kind, helpful and understanding. The situation resolved itself and when it did, she immediately assisted in rebooking this session. Really wonderful throughout.
Ali's Wednesday Yin yoga class is the most relaxing and restorative experience.
I have attended as many sessions as possible as this class is the perfect way to unwind and stretch relieving muscle tightness.
After holding poses like Pigeon and Sphinx Ali ends the class with a mindful meditation so we all leave revived and rejuvenated.
Does anyone answer the phones? Quick to apply a penalty charge for a class I actually did attend, but after 12 calls to rectify this I gave up
So so so cold in the yoga studio, despite complaining repeatedly since October. Pretty ridiculous when you see people put coats on for shivasana in summer. And unsafe as you are supposed to be warm to do yoga stretches safely.
⭐⭐⭐ Great facility, but free weights and machines need an upgrade
I’ve been a dedicated member here for a while and the gym is fantastic. The facility is always clean, well-maintained, and the premium Technogym equipment is top-tier.
The only major issue holding this gym back is the free-weight dumbbell selection and a couple of key missing pieces. The dumbbell rack completely caps out at 38 kg, which is a major roadblock for advanced progressive strength blocks. I have officially maxed out the rack on my pressing movements. Since Technogym manufactures these urethane dumbbell pairs all the way up to 60 kg, it would be amazing if the gym could order the heavier sizes (like 42 kg to 60kg) to match our current set. Additionally, adding a Smith Machine to the floor would be a massive upgrade for safety and isolation training.
Adding these heavier Technogym pairs and a Smith Machine would make this a truly complete training space for all fitness levels. I’d gladly upgrade this to a 5-star review the moment the training floor gets that expansion.
Following on from my last extremely disappointing experience with Steyning Leisure Centre, the hits keep coming. Despite cancelling my direct debit to avoid giving 5 weeks notice* to cancel my membership, I received a call asking for my bank details to refund the time lost to pool repairs. While the membership is still running and the pool fully operational I went to swim today only to be asked to pay the full price for a swim which was also incorrect. I wonder how the employees of Places Leisure would feel about receiving the service they give their customers? *The notice period is entirely dependent on when you cancel relative to the direct debit date; it could be as little as 2 weeks as explained by the head office. How can that be fair on customers?
New Malden Leisure Centre for the Reform voters only!
I saw a senior manager Ellie W, white English woman, targeted a middle aged Chinese woman at the swimming pool and threatened her to take her membership away. The lady might have forgotten to book a swimming. The lady apologized to Ellie so many times but Ellie was so upset that she kept on patronizing and humiliating that lady in front of a group of white English men who were also criticizing that lady! It was a clearly racist attack on her. It was disgusting to watch and these white English people’s unconscious bias was appalling and unacceptable. If it was a white English woman, Ellie would have behaved differently and more respectfully. Malden Centre is not a safe place for the ethnic minorities.

Worst place treat customers like nothing some of the staff may be fine but most of them treat you like trash, very stupid policies such as ability to cancel your membership “only 15 days before it ends” like what? Why cant it be like normal companies offer any day cancelation also even if you cancel it theres no guarantee they wont charge you next month for it and you will be forced to call them again to tell them your money were charged and wait for about 2 weeks to get a return.
My fitness had been on and off for a while. However i have been attending instructor Nicola's body Conditioning and combat training classes for more than 7 months now. She is very welcoming, funny, approachable, interactive, gets to know your name and very motivational. I feel stronger, have remained consistent and have improved mental clarity than I have for years.
I havent met an attendee that hasnt enjoyed her classes that ive spoken to yet. May her classes continue at Waltham Abbey and may she continue to be herself.
Every now and then, the web site or app isn’t what you need. I just wanted to check out if they had pickleball courts I could hire for a one off occasion, without a membership. No one answered the phone… on three occasions. Not good enough.Poor management.

Dirty. Basic cleaning missing in the Spa and changing room areas. Black mould, dust, grime, smells, rust, broken items, Previous feedback completely ignored. False promises from a manager. Similar lack of basic cleaning and maintenance in 3 centres (Ashington, Morpeth and Ponteland). It would seem no one is cleaning and no one is checking.

The Hurst Pool in Molesey used to often be the place myself and my son would swim. Its where my son took his first ever swim and we had been going for the last 9 years+
Recently, they have changed their website. When booking, the type of pool (Learner or Main Pool) are not properly visible and much to our dismay, the session i booked was in the learner pool. I cancelled our session and instead booked a session a couple of hours later at the Walton Xcel, which was more expensive and was limited to a single lane.
I have now been sent a £4 late cancellation fee from the Hurst Pool.
This company is a money grab when they can. Despite paying extra for a pool owned at the same company, they have said i now owe them £4.
Its not a lot of money, but its money im paying due to them changing their website, making things less clear and then charging more for less at a pool a mile down the road.
Im not going to waste my money with this company anymore. Ive gone from a monthly paying member to someone who is now actively avoiding ever going and will advise others to stay clear if they can.

I’ve been a customer at Sparkhill Pool at the Fitness Center for quite some time now. Over the past three years, I’ve noticed a significant decline in customer service, a general decline in the cleanliness of the gym, and a severe lack of equipment in the ladies’ only section. This gym is poorly maintained and poorly managed. It’s incredibly difficult to reach the manager and discuss these issues.
To make matters worse, the staff members, particularly the receptionist, engage in gossip with other customers, which unnecessarily delays my visits. The receptionist, Saffa, is extremely rude and has an attitude and i made a complaint to the duty manager regarding this incident, they did not take any action to resolve the situation.
Furthermore, there have been several rat droppings scattered throughout the gym. Health and safety officers need to be informed about this, and a thorough investigation should be conducted.

Very poor member customer service at Places Leisure Head Office and Steyning Leisure Centre. My request for compensation following recent facility repairs was not acknowledged by the recipient at Head Office; a refund offer from Steyning Leisure Centre has not been honoured and my enquiry about membership cancellation with Places Leisure Customer Service and Steyning Leisure Centre was met with an email confirming cancellation that I did not make during either call.
Please be aware: I was advised that the cancellation policy requires 15 days notice before the date of a direct debit after which the account is closed and no further payments will be taken. However, if you cancel under 15 days before the date of a direct debit the next payment will be taken for a full month. In effect the cancellation period could be 2 weeks or it could be 5 depending on the date of your direct debit. In my case I was advised it would be 5 weeks if I cancelled. This is clearly unfair on members whose payment dates depend on when they join. I was not advised about this when joining.
In light of all this I have cancelled my membership with immediate effect as it appears to have no value to either organisation.
We've been attending Swimming lessons for over three years and want to say a huge thank you to our swimming teachers:
Jo Wake, Karen, Leo, Katy, Lewis
Each of these teachers work very hard, and each brings a unique perspective to learning. My son is very grateful to have been taught by such amazing teachers as you are.
Great luck to you all.
