Birthday celebrations ruined by bad customer service
Went to PE at the Cannock Designer Village to celebrate a friends birthday.
When we arrived we were told we could sit anywhere (we were not shown to our table). The first table we sat at was dirty, so we moved to a second table that on inspection was also dirty. We tried to get the attention of a staff member, but they just looked the other way. I had to go to the guy who was cooking to get someone to clean the table. Following on we were given a dirty lipstick stained prosecco glass, a dirty knife.
We were looking at the menu for at least 15 minutes before someone came to take our orders, only then we were informed of the mains that were not available! Once we had finished our mains we sat again for 20 minutes waiting for someone to clear the table and offer desert, again we had to ask the chef if someone could come over. When the waitress came over she informed us it was too late for desert as they had switched the coffee machine and ovens off so only cold deserts were available. The night was a total disappointment and awful birthday celebration for my friend.
Went to PE Cribbs Causeway Bristol
Went to PE Cribbs Causeway Bristol. I’ve had better pizza from the freezer cabinet in Tesco. We ordered thin and crispy, believing this referred to the crust not the topping. There was hardly any cheese, or indeed any topping. Could have done with a hacksaw to slice it it was so hard. A snip at £18! We won’t be back.
Pizza Express - Welwyn Garden City
We visited the Welwyn Garden City restaurant this evening. Started off by waiting to be seated for 5 minutes. Lots of staff milling around and no-one taking any notice of us.
Eventually, after being seated we were given menus. As we looked through the menu, other patrons were seated.
After 10 minutes we asked a waitress if we could place our order, but we were told she could not help, as not her section and she would get ‘our’ waiter.
We sat for another 10 minutes and no sign of him coming anywhere near us. He was concentrating on the delivery drivers going into the restaurant.
We had enough, got up and complained to the manager. Our waiter had said they were busy - the restaurant was half full. The manager told us they were short-staffed.
Get your stories right!!!
Second time we have had a bad service.
They need to buck their ideas up as a poor service. Differing reasons for the poor service and generally, an experience we would rather forget.
Staff messing with good.
We went to pizza express in South Woodford.
I asked for more cheese on my pizza.
They took it back and said they would make a new one. I said no need just put some on top and put in the oven.
When it came out it was burnt but I knew that it would be and was ok with it. Then I saw 2 staff members looking at it and taking over my good. Then right inform of everyone, one of the staff grabs and flicks my food. Then another brings it over to me. I told them I didn’t want it as they were grabbing my food. And the manager made me feel like it was my fault. Not good enough. Look out people. Who knows what they are doing to our food.

We had a lovely relaxed lunch at Pizza Express Coulsdon. Rene and her team always provide excellent service and food. Our server today was Alvin, who couldn't be more attentive.
Appalling experience at the Shrewsbury…
Appalling experience at the Shrewsbury site on Saturday 28th March 2026. Apathetic staff, soggy pizza, staff rude at bill payment - would not let us pay on the app as we normally do and was reluctant to apply blue light discount. We have been using PE since the 1970's - £69 for two soggy pizzas with patently less toppings and one bottle of wine + substandard staff - sadly I fear PE will go the same way as Loch Fyne if they don't raise their game. Very disappointed indeed.
Cobham Downside, best Pizza and service.
We visit Cobham Downside services when travelling to the West Country. Without exception, they produce the best Pizza Express Pizzas we have eaten. This time, 22 03 26, we were travelling with a dog, so takeaway was the only option. We sat in the pleasant seating area at the back and Julianne went above and beyond give us a positive dining experience.
Came in for a meal
Came in for a meal, our waitress Jarka was very friendly and attentive, the food was great and we didn't wait long despite the restaurant being busy
Amazing - Jane is the best
Amazing! Me and my friend went to the Ely branch to celebrate our March birthdays and had a wonderful night. The prices were great, deals were amazing and the food was soooooo good! Not to mention our stunning waitress Jane. Such a wonderful and bright women who enhanced our entire experience so much more and made us laugh so hard. She was honestly so delightful and made our night! 🍕🍝🎉
Exceptional Birthday Meal – 5 Stars for Harry and the Team!
We visited Pizza Express at Gunwharf Quays for my birthday with a party of four, and it was a flawless experience from start to finish.
The Food:
The kitchen was on top form. Two of us had the Vegan Dough Balls followed by the Vegan Giardiniera on a Romana base, and both were delicious—it’s great to see such high-quality plant-based options that don't compromise on flavour. The rest of the table thoroughly enjoyed the American Hot (with that extra jalapeño kick!) and a perfectly prepared Grand Chicken Caesar. Everything arrived hot, fresh, and exactly as ordered.
The Service:
What truly made the night special was the service. Our server, Harry, was simply exceptional. He was caring, funny, genuine, and kind—the kind of person who makes you feel like a guest in his own home rather than just a customer in a busy restaurant. Pizza Express should value him highly; he is a massive credit to the Gunwharf Quays team.
The Birthday Surprise:
To top off an already lovely afternoon, Harry and a female colleague surprised me by bringing out a slice of Vegan Ginger Cake while singing Happy Birthday! It was such a thoughtful, lovely gesture, much appreciated and made my day truly feel celebrated.
Verdict: Great food, a beautiful location, and world-class service. We will definitely be back. Thank you, Harry!
Misleading advertising and rude customer service
Have been a loyal customer of PE for years now, but after yesterday’s experience and the shoddy response from customer service today, I won’t be returning.
Server didn’t make clear that if you use one lunch deal, the rest of the table cannot use their app deals. In fact they encouraged us to not all take advantage of the lunch deal if we didn’t want to. When we came to pay, was told that only the person with the lunch deal had benefitted, as the rest of the table ended up paying full price for everything, including dough balls and drinks that we only ordered because we had points for them on our app. When I asked the server, he became very awkward and basically tried to imply that I was trying to layer loads of discounts to get the bill to virtually nothing. Which was not the case at all. Absolutely ruined a lovely lunch out with my new nephew, and customer service have basically said tough shit. Never again
I had a really disappointing experience…
I had a really disappointing experience at PizzaExpress on Mother’s Day.
I took my mum for a rare treat and chose PizzaExpress because of their “2 courses for £20” offer, and I also had an app reward for free dough balls. The app made it look like both could be used, so I ordered accordingly.
Only when I went to pay was I told I had to choose between the offers. By that point, I had already over-ordered food based on the assumption both applied. Had this been made clear upfront, I would have ordered completely differently and spent less.
Customer service have since refused any goodwill gesture and simply pointed to terms and conditions, despite the fact the issue is how misleading the offers were in practice.
Given how expensive things are right now, this felt really unfair—especially on a day that was meant to be special.
I won’t be returning, and I’d advise others to be very careful as their offers are not as clear as they appear.

pizza express banbury .over priced…
pizza express banbury .over priced ,food disgraceful,i really dont know how they can charge nearly £19 for a thin lasagna 2layers of pasta 5mm thick. The chicken wings looked and tasted fatty, the chicken strips looked as though they had bwen defrosted and flashed over . THE BILL£ 107. OMG. Stay clearof this restaurant. Far better more authrntic ones in banbury and more reasonably priced
Pizza express is a waste of time
Went to pizza express in Livingston restaurant nearly empty 4 staff stood around and said they were too busy for 3 adults and 2 children, went upstairs to Pizza Hut really good and friendly staff.
Pizza express has lost our custom.
A restaurant in a windy town
Have visited Sidcup Pizza Express twice on a Saturday lunch time: 7/3 and 21/2. Food is good, when it arrives. The branch is understaffed given the number of customers that arrive. The problem is with the entrance door which sticks half open. This allows a draught of cold air to flow through the front restaurant area. The door needs a motorised closer or next best a notice outside and in to advise users to fully close the door. This is not noticed by the majority of young eaters but is by older customers. Staff will close the door fully, if asked but then it is left open by the next customer who leaves or arrives. Please put this right or we will simply find our lunch elsewhere.
Even the managers don't have a clue!
Went to the Skipton restaurant, asked about the Teens offer of pizza and soft drink for £12, were told by the lady service us that it was fine.
Ordered the food, which was very tasty.
When it came time to pay, we were given the table number but the offer didn't appear in the app. Asked the staff member serving us about it and she said the manager had to apply it.
After a five minute wait the manager came over and said we didn't qualify because it only applied to diet soft drinks and we got Coca Cola Original.
I argued that, since we'd asked about the offer, the lady serving us should have told us when we ordered original Coke that it didn't qualify and eventually the manager put the offer through.
Submitted feedback (not a complaint) via their website only to receive an email from a senior customer service adviser stating that we should have fully checked the terms and conditions of any offers before ordering.
They sent through a link to the Ts & Cs on the website - interestingly it says it does include regular Coke so the staff member was correct in not saying anything to us and the manager was wrong.
If the management don't know the deals then there's something very wrong - and to argue with the customer about something they've not even checked themselves is a disgrace.
Will be a long time before we visit one of their restaurants again.

I was served by Anh at Monmouth and she was super efficient and very friendly, nothing was too much trouble.
Southampton West quays
We visited West Quay Southampton 21 St Feb booked for 6pm. Arrived at 6.10 within the booking time Waited 5 mins to get a table ,waited 15 mins to get an order taken this was only after approaching the staff.
We were told it closed at 7pm on arrival.
It took another 30 mins for the pizza to arrive.
The woman In Charge came over We thought to apologise that we had to wait so long and as it was virtually closing we were worried and considered just going, but no she was more interested in berating us for asking about the wait. By now it was just before "closing time". So we bolted our pizzas down .. which were dreadful BTW... and left at ten past 7. If they don't want customers after 6pm why is this time slot available to book? Needless to say we won't be going back and that person seriously needs training on customer service.
