Ordered 2 x dough balls to start and 2…

Ordered 2 x dough balls to start and 2 pizzas and 2 beers. Beers arrived quite quickly, then a bit of a lengthy wait for food. Waiter turns up with the 2 pizzas, I said we had ordered dough balls to start so can you take them off the bill please. He came back with 1 portion of dough balls and said they were comp. When the bill came both dough balls were on the bill, explained that we didn’t get the 2 and the other guy said they were comp. He came back with another bill, this time with 1 portion of dough balls on the bill. I said I’m not paying for them as he said they were free as they arrived after the pizza. He goes off and produces the final bill, we paid and his attitude was absolutely disgusting when we said thanks he threw our copy of the receipt on the table and stormed off… you guys were in the wrong don’t be so bloody rude… never EVER going to the steam Pizza Express again!!!

On a visit before going to the Ustinov…

On a visit before going to the Ustinov Theatre in Bath ,my Father and I went to the saw close Outlet at PizzaExpress.
We ordered a margarita pizza and a pepperoni pizza and We had a side dish of coleslaw . Both pizzas were tasteless, very thin and Coleslaw was equally tasteless and very dry. Despite this , the service was good ,And staff was faultless. It was the mediocrity of the product that undermined the staffs good intentions. We suggest a review of the quality of their products.
Unless there’s a dramatic change , is it unlikely that any of our family will use PizzaExpress again .

Disappointing

Visited in Stockport today. Disappointing, lasagne was tasteless, seemed to be a frozen bland offering that was microwaved to boiling point. Kids starter dough balls came with a tomato and cucumber salad that had definitely seen better days. Very overpriced for what we got.

St Andrews - really filthy

St Andrews - Really dirty.

Staff were super lovely and the food tbh was edible. Not up to the prices charged but edible. £18 for a pizza is a bit excessive and I swear all the ingredients noted on the menu for my pasta weren’t in it.

However the floors are so dirty. They don’t clean under the tables after people have finished. Food and marks on the floor from previous people. Dining with a 2 and 4yr old; cleanliness is really a priority as they drop things on the floor and then unhappy when they can’t eat it or when I pick up the crayon it’s literally covered in filth.

The bathrooms were though terrible! Really didn’t want to touch a thing as I took my 4yr old son there and obs he wants to touch everything. Even the stairs on the way up were filthy as he wanted to hold the handrail and I did wonder when was that last cleaned? I used a wipe on his hands at the bottom of the stairs.

Really not what I’d expect from a restaurant. I didn’t even know if floors were cleaned that day. We were there later in the day at 5pm but they should really be cleaned at least after the main lunch trade or have sections cornered off to clean at a time.
Not a pleasant experience and if the staff etc are using the same toilets as I went in then I do wonder re general cleanliness and hygiene.

Amazing & delicious vegan treat x

My sister gifted me a home delivery #562134369 from Pizza Express last night. I eat a vegan diet & honestly can say that this food was absolutely gorgeous & delicious - there was nothing lost on taste in the absence of dairy or meat. This food was perfect. Thank you so much Pizza Express ( and my kind Sister}for providing delicious vegan treats. Joanna x

I went to pizza express in the metro centre, Gateshead today with my parents and I honestly don’t think I’ve ever had as good customer service as that provided by Neil, he was brilliant! What a genuinely nice guy and you could see the effort he made with every table despite it being the Easter holidays and being busy. Can’t recommend enough - exceptional service!

Untrained/disrespectful staff and very obnoxious.

I am writing to formally raise a complaint about the unprofessional and untrained staff at your Hampton branch during our recent visit. The team seemed completely unaware of how to process Tesco Clubcard vouchers and, rather than seeking a solution, implied that we were trying to cheat the system. This was not only offensive but also incredibly frustrating.

After much persistence on our part, the vouchers were eventually processed correctly—but only on a separate till, which your staff should have known from the start. This unnecessary delay wasted 40 minutes, leaving our children exhausted and ruining what should have been an enjoyable meal.

This experience was unacceptable, and I expect a response explaining:
   •   Why the staff were not properly trained on your accepted payment methods.
   •   What steps Pizza Express is taking to ensure customers are not wrongly accused or inconvenienced like this in the future.
   •   A gesture Of goodwill for the distress and wasted time we experienced

We visited the Broughton branch of…

We visited the Broughton branch of Pizza Express and waited over an hour for the food. We also used the app to use their offer of free dough balls. The dough balls turned up after 45 minutes and were so small we couldn't believe that anyone would pay £5.95 for a tiny plate of them. This could have been a great way to promote the dish but instead it put all of us off from ever ordering them off the menu. When our food turned up, there was a minimal amount of pizza ingredients on each pizza and we were completely stung on the prices, especially £5.95 for a small portion of rainbow coleslaw which tasted like it had been pickled in a jar for 50 years. The meal for six of us (main meals only and 6 drinks) cost over £100 and we won't be going back.

Overpriced mediocre meal

We ate as a family of four. Seventy pounds (and that was with a £13 discount) for four cans of pop, two pizzas and two pasta dishes. The pizzas were okay but the pasta dishes were more sauce than anything else. I have had better supermarket ready meals! Really disappointed. Massively over priced, mediocre food. We will not go again!

Disatrous PizzaExpress promotion like scam

I am fairly sure that Pizza Express lost a lot of future customers because of the deceptive 60th pizza anniversary (scam) day on 27 March.

I expected a long queue but I wanted to try Pizza Express because everywhere they said it’s their 60th anniversary with cheap promotional pizzas.

The promotion described in newspapers and online media was simple. If your order was made within 5-6pm, 27 March, your promotional pizza would be discounted.

I went Oxford branch in the centre. SURPRISINGLY, there was no queue at all. Actually the ground floor was totally empty and the light was out. So I saw one customer who thought the restaurant closed went away. But when I opened the door, their first floor was open but only less than half full. It was strange but I felt lucky with my whole family.

Who didn’t want almost free pizzas?

But I realised very quickly their promotion was a scam and they had no intention on selling pizzas within 5-6pm. As I mentioned above, the ground floor was empty, and the first floor was half taken at 5:20pm. But no member came to us. I grabbed a member of staff and asked if we can have a table. But she said simply ‘no’. No more explanation whatsoever so I asked why we couldn’t get seats. She said the reservation was fully booked. BUT no one asked us whether we had a reservation in that empty restaurant from our entry. If they were really fully booked, why didn’t they come to us whether we booked a table when they saw us? This is just not my experience. They never asked newly appearing customers whether they booked. Just they did not even give a look while they were just standing and passed time. I stayed there 2-3 mins including our team I saw 3 other teams coming in. But why the restaurant, which claimed to be fully booked, was nearly empty? Did the guests all arrange their visit shortly before the promotion will be over? Again, the promotion was to be only applied orders between 5-6pm according to the terms. This is not possible for the empty restaurant without any queue at 5.23pm, saying the reservation is full, suddenly becomes full then they could take orders within the time limit for everybody!! Ridiculous and dishonest. You shouldn't have deceived people this way. If PizzaExpress thought it was promotion, it was rather a sabotage for the brand name by anti pizzaexpress spies. Very clever. Before today, there was no good or bad opinion about Pizza Express. But from today. I have lots of things to talk about Pizza Express’ short sighted scam that makes customers away! Disgusting and insulting.

I don’t blame the staff but greedy company.

Again shocking service and missing items

Last few times we have ordered a delivery, something is always missing. even the pizzas fail to arrive.
It has to be the worst pizza company around. To get a refund or complain, you need to provide photos and use there shocking chat service. Then you get an email saying they will investigate. From the investigation from the last issue where the food didnt arrive, they offered me a voucher. then you just give up trying to contact them to get a refund. Awful service and i am surprised the average rating is a 2.5 - should be closer to zero in my opinion.

I booked for the 60th birthday event at…

I booked for the 60th birthday event at pizza express over a month ago for Maidstone branch- a week before that, notification of cancellation of my booking arrived via email but no explanation why it had been cancelled. The pizza express app still showed my active booking so assumed it was a glitch with the system. However, despite calling the restaurant several times leading up to the day, no one answered so when I showed up yesterday, the guy at the door said it was fully booked and it wasn’t his problem that the app still showed my booking! No sincere apology, nothing! He was just happy to repeat himself saying it’s full and that’s it- it wasn’t his problem!! Great customer service huh? Did they handpick who they wanted there? Will never know as no explanations were given! They must have employed a great bunch of staff to work there - ones with no skills! Happy never to go back to pizza express ever-even if they’re giving away free pizzas!! Hope you’ve had a great 60th celebrations!!

We could not go inside the restaurant…

We could not go inside the restaurant for the 1965 deal as we were told that we had to book and there was what looked like scurity outsidetherestaurant. The silly thing is we couldn't get the online booking. All a shamble. Will not be patronising this restaurant at the Wembley Outlet.

Avoid

Avoid! The management at High Holborn are rude and disrespectful. I just went there with my children after booking a table on Sunday via the app for tonight at 5pm. I was abruptly shown the door and told the place was full and that my table reservation for 5pm wasn’t on the list. 2nd time I’ve been disrespected at the same branch. Won’t be back.

What a shambles in the Cardiff Bay…

What a shambles in the Cardiff Bay branch. Booked for 6.15 yesterday evening so we could get to a 7.30pm show across the road (it should be pointed out that all restaurants in the Bay are used to pre-show evening meal customers that need to get to WMC for a performance). The restaurant was less than 50% full, had 4 serving staff and 2 cooking staff that we could see.
Drinks and food ordered before 6.25pm - basic doughballs to share (2 persons) and 2 x simple pizzas. Drinks arrived promptly but at 6.50pm, still no food after asking 3 times. At that point we expressed our concern quite strongly and asked the waiter to rectify the situation immediately as we had been waiting almost 45 mins from arrival. We also asked for our main pizzas to be brought asap rather than waiting for us to eat the starter as we would have to leave by 7.20pm at the latest. Our doughball starter arrived 5 mins later at 6.55pm. 7.15pm however - no sign of any main course.
We asked to see the manager saying we would need to leave; without hesitation we were instantly billed for just over £18 - the full price for the starter and two drinks - no apology for the poor service or inconvenience; nothing, despite not having had our dinner. We didn't make a big fuss but told him the service experience was very poor and he just shrugged and looked away. Perhaps 'really sorry, let me not charge you for your drinks' or 'here's a voucher to use next time you visit' would have helped the situation a little and made me not write this review. I've never experienced service like that anywhere before and would advise:
DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT IN CARDIFF BAY
They clearly have not been trained in good customer service. What used to be a good brand is now a terrible one. We definitely won't visit PizzaExpress ever again!
