Unwelcoming

Went today with my little class. 7 Reception children all with autism. I went in ahead of my little ones and the rest of my staff, just to introduce myself out of courtesy and say I had 7 children with autism, all with adults wearing backpacks and reins and that our current topic was under the sea so I just wanted to bring them in so they could see the fish. All 3 women all looked at eachother and the middle one turned her lip up a bit. I asked was that not OK? I've taken my own children in here several times. It's a public shop where anyone can go in day to day. She said that they 'don't have the insurance to cover if any of them fell over or hurt themselves' (but they do for other members of the public taking their own children in I presume, public liability insurance?) I then asked, was I not OK to just walk them through so they can see the fish in the tanks? She said, "Well I'll let you today but probably don't come back." I was so, so upset. I asked for nothing from them. Just to bring the children in to look. I hope I am wrong in thinking it's because I introduced myself as coming from a send school with children who have autism. I brought my class in, they looked around and were amazing! They looked at all of the beautiful fish. We spent 5 minutes at most and then I left. Hopefully in that 5 minutes you saw how amazing they are and how beautifully behaved they were. We just wanted to bring their learning to life.
I then took my children across to CMC aquatics and as we arrived, they couldn't have been more welcoming, asking the children if they wanted to see nemo and dori - I thanked them for making us feel welcome and not awkward and unwanted as you did. Please be kinder. I don't see how me bringing them in to look is any different to Jo Public coming in with their own children as i have done many times and purchassed from you. If you're not insured then perhaps have a no foot traffic rule as you can't be insured for anyone, not just neurodiverse children. I have since rang 4 other local aquatic shops who all said we are more than welcome to take the children in to see the fish.
