Incorrect charging and had to fight for a refund

This is a double edge review as the product itself was excellent. Agree that the software is buggy but once complete it works. My issues steems from trying the handling of my case when the system incorrectly charged me twice at Full price when I tried to redeem a voucher.

Despite their customer service advising that it was their error and refund was being arrange I have and to follow up and get advised that it's been escalated but no real action on their part. I have gotten to the point where this has been raised to the Commerce

It's terrible that it has gotten to this stage but am limited to escalation channels available.

--- update --- 12.8.26

since escalating via review channels & Commerce commission my refund was processed with in 2 days... though no official update from Customer service (which I suspect are bots or run out of an over seas contact Centre that has a script to follow.)

As a consumer we shouldn't have to fight this hard to get a refund for a payment that was incorrectly taken

Don't trust their production timeframes or communication

I created a photobook for a colleague leaving work, I relied on stated production and delivery timeframes as my guide to ensure the book would be ready for the persons leaving event.

When I noticed that the maxim production timeframe had completed and there had been no communication that it was in delivery I checked using their online chat bot. The chat bot confirmed that the book was still in the production stage and that it would raise an escalation message. Either it didn't, the production team don't read or they don't care to meet their stated commitments. 27 business days it took to produce the book, that's a whopping 20 days beyond their stated timeframe of 2-7 days for production. No communication to say sorry.

The book obviously missed the event, embarrassingly it made it look like I did not have my gift - suffice to say I made it clear to all present and following how poor my experience has been.

The company do at least eventually sent through produced books but don't trust the timeframes or the online chat bot. Totally let down, a very poor experience.

Side note, when they send books they also include advertising material with it, that I understand. What I don't understand is why send promotional coupon cards that are not valid in the country I am in (NZ) or presumably the state in Australia that it is not valid for. Surely, the address can be reference before either the mechanised or human system adds the cards - seems wasteful and makes me wonder if they get paid by the sponsoring company for each card sent. Nothing like getting a card that reads "a special gift for you!" to find it can't be used - yep, salt in the wound.

Difficult clunky ordering system

The book itself is probably easy for those who have graphic design experience. I am computer literate and experienced with CAD programmes but this was pretty tricky and time consuming for me to have the level of book I wanted (recipe book for the family). But I'm happy with the result I've sent to print. It was a bit sneaky in that there were more pages than I had paid for on the design interface. I just used the pages provided and was no wiser. So I had to pay extra.
I haven't received the books yet, and I'm sure they'll be great, but as far as ordering with multiple vouchers go, it has been a hugely stressful nightmare. It is disjointed and complicated and massively time consuming. And actually doesn't function well - wouldn't accept my entries and repeatedly froze, when it did go through there was a page error. I reentered my numbers many, many times. Support is slow to respond (24 hours for email, online chat just kept telling me to try another device, phone message for callback wasn't replied to after 3 hours) so I phoned again and finally got someone. After several hours of trying, 2 days in a row, I finally got my order completed, really because the staff member sorted things at her end .Co.nz implies it's in NZ. Nope. All Australian with a time difference for support line, which was clearly very busy helping people who found it as confusing as I did.

Save Your Pennies - Can't deliver on their Christmas promises!

Way to ruin Christmas Photobookshop.co.nz!!!
I ordered an item back in November (before the cut-off date given to ensure delivery for Christmas as they promised).

We are now into January and still no item has been delivered. I first chased this order up in early December and was completely given the run around!

Their customer service has no service involved at all - they have never once apologised for their stuff up, nor have they attempted to rectify the situation or refunded as I have asked.

I have now been chasing my order for 3 weeks and almost given up received any service from this company - find a more reputable company that will delivery what they say they will!!!
