Very poor service and responsibility. They cancelled a membership I had paid for but refused to return money to me and say stuff luck. Pity to see all these other poor reviews as well - shows I’m not the only one having issues

When it works, it works.
When it doesn't, support is not very good and you're on your own.

Despite the relatively high commissions, I would have rated this with 5 stars if the support were good.

This way: it is OK, but in case of problems, you're on your own.

Worst platform for creators and users

If I could give this platform zero stars, I definitely would—actually, I’d give it -1 or even -100. My account was shut down after **three months of effort and earning money**, with no proper explanation. They **blocked nearly $800** of my earnings and never returned it.

On top of that, they even pressured my subscribers to message me and demand refunds—**even though the subscribers' payments were in the platform’s hands, not mine**.

I’m warning both **creators and users**: if you want to **lose your money**, go ahead and use this platform.

They’ll steal your money

They’ll steal your money. I have no memberships and they charged me $9.90 anyway. I emailed to try to get them to delete my account because there isn’t a straightforward way to do it. No reply at all but still taking my money. I used to get mad when people would steal things from Patreon and upload on YouTube for free but now I see why.. I hope this company goes bankrupt

Absolutely shocking

Absolutely shocking. I paid for a higher tier which was £11.99 and when it cleared it says I’m a free member even though the money has been taken out of my account and trying to charge me again for a paid membership which I already paid. There customer service is no where to be seen so I will be recalling the money back by through my bank

Patreon charged me twice and refused to refund

I am (or more accurately, was) a subscriber to a Podcast on Patreon and paid an annual subscription. It was a good way to support the creators. However, last September Patreon debited my account twice for the same subscription, which I queried straight away. This was acknowledged by customer service but they then proceeded to delay or not respond to my follow up requests. There was always another reason why it couldn’t be resolved. Eventually, over six months later, I received an email to inform me “that this will be our final communication with you regarding your refund request as we have exhausted all available support options in this case.”
I had long since given up any realistic expectation of seeing my money, but needless to say I have cancelled all Patreon subscriptions. An awful organisation to deal with.

Suspended right away , for no reason , a terrible service.

Please , do not waste your money on that. I decided to create an account and subscribe to one of the creators I follow on youtube, for the first time. I watched 3 vids and left . 3 hours later, I am getting an email , that my account is suspended , because of "suspicious activity". I am disgusted by that company.

Strange company with dreadful approach…

Strange company with dreadful approach to business. I tried to set an account up so that I could see if it was anygood for me but paused halfway through. When I went back there was an email from.tgem saying my account was suspended due to suspicious activity. I replied asking for details as I had not made any activities but got no reply. I came to these reviews to see if anyone else had experienced problems with them, and low and behold, their reputation is awful with most people complaining of issues with billing. It looks like this company is more interested in exploiting gullible crestives than supporting up and coming creativity. I note that they do not respond here either, a company best avoided I think

I don't know who they are and they bill my credit card

I don't know who they are or what they do and don't care. They billed my credit card and I never gave them a number or wanted to join their membership. They must be a scam, especially since they have no way to contact them, their cancelation process is way too complicated, and I suggest you never try to do business with whoever they are. Avoid Patreon like the plague.

Duplicitous new pickpocketing measures.

They were good until recently. It was so simple, they showed membership prices in my currency, I paid in my currency. I got rewards monthly. easy. I got excited and rushed to splurge on what was already a pricey membership and at the last second, after I've already pressed pay, I see "USD" written in grey text at the bottom of the screen. USD is not my currency. I closed the page while the wheel was still turning. too late. Got charged almost double in my local currency. I'm still kind of stunned. They made me think I was paying in my currency, only to extract more than I expected through duplicitous means. I'm not going back.

If I could give 0 stars I would! I signed up for a $1 per month subscription so I used a checking account with very little money in it. I kept getting charged the $1 and then a random $8. They over drafted my account 3 times and I accrued $90 worth of over draft fees because of it. After the first time, I canceled my $1 subscription but was still getting charged the $8. You cannot call them and when you send a request you are emailed back with a generic response with zero helpful information. You cannot find a way to cancel everything or even information about all you are being charged. There is no access to your payment information or anything that would allow you to cancel. Complete scam! I was finally able to stop payment through my bank and cancel the card they were using.

Very poor customer service

Every time I think that service can't get any worse, some website surprises me, and this time it's Patreon. They want me to verify myself. I have a 2K camera that I regularly use to record content, a valid ID card, and a normal selfie, but it just can't verify me. There's always some error, error, and error, but they never say what the problem is. I have fiber-optic internet, everything works perfectly, and they still can't make it work? The Jumio service they use is really trash.

Frustrating experience with payouts

I use Patreon to post contents for members. Overall, Patreon offers better functionalities for membership subscription (like videos, etc.). It only creates issues for me as regards payments/subscriptions. So, it's basically valueless to me.

With more and more of my supporters became paid members, I found I actually couldn't withdraw the money via PayPal because they said my country is not supported.

What a joke! I use PayPal every day and people pay me via PayPal since ages ago (at least over 20 years). Patreon is the only company that says I can't use it.

Of course, there is another option, which is Payoneer, but they charge much more fees and monstrous Annual Account Fee ($29.95) for my country if I receive less than 2,000 USD!!!

This is a complete rip-off.

Then I decide to refund my supporters and pause billing.

Strangely, new subscribers can still pay me and become paid members! This is very frustrating. Now I have to refund each time when someone pays me.

Despite I write a pinned post telling people not to pay and unsubscribe from paid members, there are still remaining paid members. Probably they don't know how to unsubscribe.

I hope Patreon can resolve such issues as soon as possible and I would be more than happy to change the rating.

Save yourself a few years of pain. avoid this company

The first email I got in response to my problem was flagged as a phishing trap because of the incredibly specific and personal details required to verify my account. So I tried again and got another email with the same questions worded slightly differently as to not be flagged again.

Responses come once a day, between 3-7 am, and even if I replied immediately, I still wouldn't get another one for another 24ish hours.

None of my questions were answered about the security information required to verify my account. I just got a paragraphed apology, summarizing exactly what I asked. So I googled a bunch and was able to verify HIS email as legit, after 3 days.

It's taken over a week since I contacted them the second time and I'm still not back into my account to watch the content I PAY FOR because, guess what? They're closed on weekends. So I have to wait until Monday, hopefully, to receive a final reply telling me my email has been updated.

I'm not expecting that though. I'm expecting another tired apology about all my complaints without answering any of them and a few more steps until I have access again.

When literally any other company, my issue would've been resolved in a few minutes with a phone call or online chat. It's been over a week. They do not care about you or your problems with their shitty company. They don't service customers. At all.

Elaborate dark pattern scams impossible to cancel

Took me five minutes to find the unsubscribe option, which is hidden down 8 levels of menus. And then it popped up a message in French (my app and OS are in English and have never been in French) obscuring the cancel button. Oh sure, "it's a bug" I'm sure they will say. Bullshit! Only because I speak French was I able to navigate how to dismiss the cookie warning dialogue and cancel the subscription. Super sketchy scammy dark pattern crap. Will NEVER subscribe to a Patreon again
