When their service goes down, they don't care to inform their customers. They lose customer data and can't restore it. Horrible customer service. Extremely unprofessional.
Regular outages, and the support is completely awful. Especially avoid purchasing anything "lifetime" from them.
I have been using owncube services for more than 4 years and I strongly regret it. They promise 99.9% uptime but it is a blatant lie. First they create problems with the service and they offer addons saying that if you pay for that you won't have this issue anymore. But after a week or two you realise there is another issue with the service. Their customer service (actually it's just one guy he is the CEO, tech support and everything) is awful. He is unprofessional, lies all the time and completely unethical. They give evasive answers and frustrate you so that you will eventually give up. They recently lost all my data and the solution they offer is a fresh installation, I mean just a blank nextcloud without any of my data. I still don't understand how that is a solution. I even paid for a backup addon and yet they lost all the data, literally 100% data loss. What kind of a provider would do that. I highly recommend avoiding it at all costs. It is nothing but a scam company.
Terrible provider. I asked them many times to improve their continuity. It is really bad. My client lost a lot of data and the service is often down. Currently it has been down for over a week. No status. Customer support does not want to accept that their product just sucks and does not acknologde the fact that they are having a faulty offering instead they blame it on SLA that they do not even commit too. Horrible horrible company. Do not store your data here.
We are OwnCube customers for almost a year. In the last two weeks, there were several downtimes including two for multiple days. At the moment, the system is down for 5 days and we are unsure whether they can rescue our data or not. (They say that in the next days they might be able to give more information.)
Long time customer, about to switch to a different provider.
It was decent for a while, even though I've had small issues all the time, service interruptions, and the speed has always been terrible, and became worst with the time. I also bought several "specials" and "addons" during the years, but the impression I had, was that they sell you "lifetime" specials, and then they try to get rid of you before your investments start to make you save money.
Last year was a nightmare, they lost all my data and configurations in November, reinstalled my cloud to a different country, it took months to get it back up and running and to reconfigure everything, I also paid for a backup addon, and now they had a new outage for several days, and apparently the only option is to reinstall my server again from scratch. And I know this because, I was the one contacting them, because I noticed that the service was down, otherwise I wouldn't even have received a message warning.
Service desk is awful, the answers are always evasive, incomprehensible, and useless most of the time, forcing you to ask again the same thing several times, in order to get answers.
I signed up on September 8 (paid account).
Today is September 14.
Still no access to the service.
No respond from support.
Their nextcloud server is constantly down.
After my Nextcloud Data got locally corrupted and synced to cloud, I requested to restore a backup, which I had bought years ago as a Backup Addon (70EUR one-off). However, the provided credentials did not work and gave errors. This had happened before and I did not have the time to follow it up, until I really needed the backup. IT support was slow to respond, defensive and not helpful. After using Owncube many years without problems, my impression is that part of their services is fraudulent and do not hold what is promised leading to data loss in my case. Stay away from this company!
Changed server two times in 2 years, did not inform the users, so when I was not able to log into my cloud I had to raise a ticket and get new credentials, and all my data, lost... so i needed to uploaded again. When it happended again, I decided to cancel my account and request a re-fund for the months I would not use... and got no reply. Poor technically, awful customer service and not reliable.
Great service at a great price. I made a mistake on my side with my cloud and they corrected it quickly.

Application is down twice a month. Could not sync 100 gb sized videos since the service is too slow or I have to restart because of inactivity....
You buy lifetime, but actually you die inside using this service.

I had a single server cloud storage on a Dutch server of this company for almost a decade. All of a sudden I could no longer get access to the server. I opened a ticket, which was answered with the summary information that this node experienced a hardware failure and that the rescue team was trying to retrieve the data. After two weeks of requesting updates I finally got the message that all my data had been lost.
OwnCube did not notify me of this hardware failure themselves. I needed to constantly request updates, otherwise I would not have received any more information.
This is not the way to treat longvtime customers. It is not a serious company, stay away!
I have used the Nextcloud solution offered by OwnCube to my satisfaction for many years. Over the years there have been some glitches with SSL certificates expiring of other outages but never serious problems.
These were resolved fast. I had services there running on Dutch servers (NL30): CPanel, Nextcloud with update service with business SLA and with a backup option. Nextcloud was used purely for file sharing with external users.
But then, in November 2022 I suddenly received reports that the site was unavailable. I dropped a supportticket at Owncube on which they responded as expected. 3 days later, upon my request, I received feedback that they were awaiting results of an FSCK check from the DC. Another 3 days later.... still no result. 14 days later.... still no feedback regarding the FSCK check. Requested status again at the end of November. This time the raid array could not be started with the new disks.
January 3, 2023, two months after the issue started, again requested the status myself and then it turned out that the environment had been lost. They did set up a new environment (without CPanel that I did pay for) but unfortunately the data was lost
but more importantly: the backup was also lost!! It turned out to be in the same stack that broke. What bothers me most is that not a single active message came from Owncube itself.
Each time I had to request the status myself and a short meaningless answer came back... with the standard excuse rule, that is. I missed all effort of cooperation from support.
In short, i think this is not the level of service or support you might expect from a professional organisation. You might expect a supportdesk to monitor tickets and keep the status updated. I'm not going to recommend this company to anyone. Nextcloud works perfectly but look for another provider to host this on a redundant server environment with failover which was obviously not the case here. (I think they offered this just after i had this issue but too late for me.)
The services keep going down, and the prices keep going up. The helpdesk is honestly the most rude, condescending, unhelpful and slow I've every encountered.
Stay away! Migrating cloud services away is a hassle, so best not to get locked in with this company. Be warned.
I would stay away from this company. It seems to be a two person company and the CEO is 50% of the support team. He is unprofessional and outride rude.
The Nextcloud overview page shows several problems which he was unwilling to rectify. When I added 7 day backup support the copy of the data was only accessible a few hours every day and he thought that was perfectly fine. The crown was when the services was down for several day and they couldn't not bring it back up.
This is a one man company. The CEO is also the helpdesk engineer. The helpdesk service is the worst I've ever experienced in my whole professional career, e.g. if you politely ask for an update in a ticket you'll be reprimanded.
Read the general conditions very carefully! You are responsable for backing up the files stored on their nextcloud/owncloud servers. If any file corruption occurs, which occured in my case, then you're on your own. Lost all my files as a result of their unprofessional handling/service.
