Point redemption scam

2 days in a row OT changed my sameday reservation to 8 days later. The points I redeemed for $16 on a mastercard did not go through when I dined. 2 days in a row I tried to contact customer service at 2:30pm and the next day at 11pm. Both times I was informed I was outside business hours. When I asked (the chatbot) what the business hours were they said "it varies".

"Confirmed reservations"?

Just hours before our confirmed reservation, we were notified that the restaurant had canceled our booking. We were informed that the restaurant had scheduled an employee appreciation event and would not be open.

Unfortunately, this last-minute cancellation caused significant inconvenience, as our reservation was coordinated with a scheduled train departure and required us to quickly notify friends and adjust plans.

This experience raises concerns about the reliability of “confirmed” reservations made through OpenTable. Based on this experience, we will reconsider using the platform for future reservations that involve time-sensitive plans.

I had company in town and wanted to…

I had company in town and wanted to take them for dinner. As it was important, I was sure to make a reservation. The resurvation was made via open table.
I arrived at the restaurant to find it was closed that day.
If the reservation is important, call the restaurant directly. Do not depend on this app. It is not dependable.

I booked a restaurant with open table. I was asked to confirm I was,attending 2 days before. Arrived at the restaurant but is was closed. It was temporarily closed for several weeks but open table didn't inform us.

Terrible experience

William B's in the Suncoast. First off we had to ask 3 times for bread. I ordered French Onion Soup which I waited way to long and it was served with my salad. My son ordered Filet Mignon medium well with mashed potatoes, the steak was rare and sent back 10 minutes later it came back but his potatoes were cold. My wife ordered Veal Parm with pasta. The veal was very fatty and the pasta was cold. The Turkey I had was very tough. Considering the service, food and prices they charge this place is way over priced.

Dinner at Sapore Italiano …

Have had dinner at Sapore Italiano numerous times and always enjoyed our experience. Last night we were seated in a dining room with 2 large groups that were very loud. We being a party of 2 had to shout at each other to hear. What was supposed to be a relaxing experience turned out to be a very aggravating experience. Large parties should not be mixed in with tables of 2 or 4.

Open table has poor customer service

I made a reservation and when I showed up the restaurant was not open. I then received a condescending email from open table implying I was at fault. The end result is that I will never use open table or visit the restaurant again. I have been visiting this restaurant for over 30 years and they can thank open table for a loss of 10 visits a year.

I frequent City Oyster in Delray Beach…

I frequent City Oyster in Delray Beach Florida. The food is always delicious and consistent. What makes the experience even better is our waiter Matheo Nulich. He is outstanding. One of a kind. Always willing to do anything to make our meal perfect. He is a true professional. We get disappointed when he is not there.

First and last time using the OpenTable app. Made a reservation a week in advance for The Chop House only to get there and the restaurant wasn’t even opening until a hour later. It gave me updates all week not once correcting that the location opens later than the reservation time.

Terrible

Every experience with open table has been awful, they are not truthful about availabilities at the restaurant you are trying desperately to book, we have told the restaurants exactly what has happened and it will be left in their hands wether to continue with their services or not. Find another way to book your reservations..if possible.

Terrible Point System

I really enjoy the convenience of using OpenTable — it makes finding and booking reservations super easy. However, I’m extremely disappointed with their points system, which feels like a rip-off.
I recently realized that my points were constantly disappearing, even though I was regularly using the app and earning more. It turns out they expire after 3 years, which I think is unfair — especially for loyal, active users. Most reward programs don’t remove points if you continue to earn them, and OpenTable really should follow that standard.
Until they change this policy, the rewards program feels misleading and frustrating, which takes away from an otherwise great service.

Too many obstacles

Tried to book a table at a local restaurant for Thursday night and OpenTable booked the restaurant for Sunday night. After being challenged with more than 7 CaptCha puzzles during the booking process, I finally gave up and called the restaurant directly. OpenTable is just one more example of an overly automated, customer-hostile intermediary that provides no value.

No Meaningful Service

OpenTable kept on sending me the emails how we can help but never did anything except saying directly contact restaurant. In my view if you provide the booking service you need to provide answers for it too, else why not I will call the restaurant and book?
