Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 2,557 reviews, reviewers overwhelmingly had an excellent experience with this company. Customers frequently find the platform straightforward, easy to use, and a great, budget-friendly alternative to high-street agents, allowing for direct communication and thorough vetting of tenants. Many consumers feel supported throughout the entire process, appreciating the clear documentation, comprehensive updates, and efficient handling of administrative tasks. However, a small portion of people mentioned difficulties with customer service, noting instances where support staff seemed unhelpful or unable to provide assistance outside of legal matters. Conversely, some users felt the platform lacked a more personal touch, finding it run by automated systems, or experienced constant communication pressure from the company.

Stressless guided procedure

Every aspect of Openrent, after years of estate agents is simpler, fairer, more transparent with more control, with a chain of prompts through the process using an automated progression once either side has finished a step right through to care of financial and/or important compliant elements. Founders should also take their business acumen to apply on other businesses/how to run a country!

Always excellent

We have used open rent on several occasions over the years to let our properties and each time the process has been clear, efficient and inexpensive. Including references our latest letting cost were under £200 and the tenants moved in today .

Excellent.

It’s a great platform for both the landlord and tenants, all documents in one place for both parties, you get alerts when documents require updating, it’s also very easy to advertise the property, the only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is the tenants can have issues trying to link bank accounts etc

Good platform, BUT ....

It’s a good platform, but the systematic blocking of phone numbers — even after explicit authorisation to share them — is extremely frustrating. It directly hinders the arrangement of viewings and creates unnecessary issues with basic logistics, such as notifying someone that you’re running late or simply opening the door.

Openrent listings targeted by Criminals.

Openrent advertisements are now being targeted by criminals and fraudsters.
In fact openrent forced me as a landlord to re-open an inquiry that I had declined politely from an inquirer who had a criminal conviction because of an error Openrent have made. I was forced to withdraw the advertisement I had placed as I didn’t feel safe. I made a complaint but openrent has still not adequately addressed my safety concerns.
I paid to put in a new advertisement for the same property two weeks later as I didn’t want to be targeted by the same criminals but Openrent refuse not to link it to the old advertisement putting my safety at risk. I have removed my advertisement from their platform as a result.
Just an update. I have again contacted Openrent about safety. They have again totally ignored my concerns and have attempted to deflect criticism by inventing false scenarios.
Just last week the BBC documentary Panorama highlighted this very problem. Openrent should at the very least address this serious issue and have some duty towards the safety of tenants and landlords.

Hi Prince,

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, and we are sorry to hear about your concerns regarding platform safety.

We take safety and security very seriously and have a range of automated and manual verification processes in place to flag potential issues and protect users. Landlords always remain in full control of their applications and can decline any enquiry and close communication at any point.

As you're aware, we've exchanged several emails with you in an attempt to help you with this matter.

If we can support or advise further please do contact the team here: https://www.openrent.co.uk/faq#i-have-more-questions. We'll get back to you on the same working day.

Thank you again for your review and for bringing your concerns to our attention.

Best wishes, Leo and the OpenRent team

I tried it

I tried it, I spent more time picking lamp posts, busses, taxis, phone boxes etc etc, to prove that I'm human every 2 mins, than I did actually searching for places.

The inventory service was absolutely terrible - missed significant issues on both first and second visits (eg missing glass pane, major damage to floor, missing rug and sofa cushions etc)
