Trust the bad reviews! Worst shopping experience ever!

I should have checked trustpilot first. It’s seriously the worst shopping experience all over the years!

I received the skort with a large stain in the middle of the waistband and some dust on the surface. I emailed them photos, but they pretended that they didn’t see it and said I have to pay for return shipping. This is clearly their fault for sending a defective product, yet they still expect me to return it at my own expense.

Exchange Rejected and Poor Customer Service

On January 27th, I placed an online order through the Oak + Fort website (Order C989034) that included three items, two of which were marked as final sale. When the package arrived, I loved the full priced item however, while I loved the look, the other two sweaters did not fit right. More importantly, the fabric felt very itchy against my skin and caused irritation and rashes.

Because of this, I hoped to exchange the items for alternatives of equal or greater value, and I have already identified the items I would like instead. I purchased these items with the understanding that “final sale” meant no refunds but could still allow for exchanges. Had I known that final sale also excluded exchanges, I would not have taken the risk to purchase the two sweaters.

When I contacted customer service, my exchange request was repeatedly treated as a return and rejected on that basis. Even after I clarified multiple times that I was requesting an exchange rather than a refund, my request continued to be misunderstood as a return and was denied. In an effort to resolve the situation respectfully, I kindly asked whether an exception could be made given my genuine misunderstanding of the policy and the circumstances surrounding the items. I strongly believe my reasoning for the exchange is valid and my request, fair. I explained that I was committed to purchasing replacement items of equal or higher value and simply wanted to find a fair solution. Despite this, my request was declined without an alternative path forward.

I have previously had a disappointing customer service experience with Oak + Fort regarding a return during the COVID period. It was such a poor handling of my case that I stopped shopping at Oak + Fort for a few years. I chose to shop with the brand again because I genuinely appreciate the clothing and hoped for a more positive experience. Unfortunately, this situation has left me feeling deeply dissatisfied and reinforces my previous thoughts and feelings of the brand.

The sweaters are new, unworn, and still have their tags and original packaging. Denying a customer an exchange for items of equal or higher value — especially when the products have caused skin irritation — feels discouraging for someone who is trying to continue supporting the brand. From a customer perspective, flexibility in situations like this plays a significant role in customer satisfaction and long-term loyalty. Thoughtful accommodations can strengthen trust and encourage customers to return, whereas rigid policies can create negative associations with a brand.

I value Oak + Fort’s designs and would still like to have my case resolved. I hope my feedback can also be considered in improving future customer experiences.

Kinda pissed I can't put 0 stars

Kinda pissed I can't put 0 stars. Horrible service. Return policy is also a HUGE joke and basically does not exist. New unworn with tags?? NOPE. And they will take the biggest delay so that by the time they even respond you are outside the return window.

Quality is crazy underwhelming for the price too.
NOT WORTH IT.

where do i even start haha

where do i even start haha. i never write reviews but this one had to be shared as a warning to not shop here and save yourself time and your hard earned money!

never have i seen a company screw up this badly and fail to provide an appropriate solution before. i ordered a black jacket from the boxing week sale, and they sent me a red sweater instead. i emailed customer service since their live chat function was not available, and they took two weeks to "investigate" and come back with a solution, which was a shipping label to return my wrongly sent item and a refund after they received the sweater back. during the two weeks, i had followed up multiple times to see if they could just send me back the correct item instead of a refund since i still wanted the jacket. when they finally replied to this, they told me the item was sold out. i then asked for some kind of compensation, and their reply was to continue to shop their boxing week sale hahahah. what.

so i ended up shipping back the sweater they had wrongly sent to me and they emailed me a receipt to confirm my refund in which i noticed they had only given me a partial refund. they had charged me for shipping. why are you charging me to ship back your product that you had mistakenly packed. hahaha.

i had also signed up to receive product notifications for my original jacket i wanted and got a notice it was back in stock, so i ordered it before it could sell out again. i also had a 10% off coupon i wanted to use from a prior order, so i thought well yay maybe i can finally receive the jacket i wanted at a slightly lower price than before. everything works out in the end yay! i thought wrong. they ended up cancelling my order the next day for no reason. all it said was reach out to the customer support email address if your order was wrongfully cancelled. i checked back on the website to see if the jacket had sold out and that was the reason my order was cancelled but no, she was still there. fully in stock.

on ANOTHER note, why do they have a live chat option if the live chat NEVER works and there's NEVER any agents available to help? i've been checking back throughout the last couple of weeks and every time i've opened the live chat, i'm met with the same "Our agents are not available at the moment. Feel free to email us at xxx with any inquiries." message. what an insane way to operate a company and what diabolical customer service.

update: me being stubborn still wanted the jacket so i emailed customer service asking why my order got cancelled. they said there was a glitch on the website, it was showing as available but they had no stock. kind of crazy to let a glitch like that sit over a couple of days but ok. oak+fort then told me a store near me had two left in my size that i could physically get. i called the store to check and they told me they had nothing left and they had sold out during christmas, but a different store location had it instead. so i ended up going there to buy the jacket. the lady who worked there was rude and unfriendly but i bought the jacket. so on top of this whole situation, this company didnt even have proper operations going and had stock/inventory issues too.

update 2: after a couple more weeks of emailing back and forth and asking for a full refund, they FINALLY gave me back the amount they charged for shipping. during this time, they had offered solutions like "here's a 10% discount for your next order", which expired in 3 weeks time, nor did i want to use it as i dont plan on shopping here again. they had also told me they were not able to manually adjust for the shipping charge as the system automatically charges for it, but they were able to do it when i kept pushing back.

overall terrible experience and will never shop here again:)

No customer service, I lost money on the transaction

The item I ordered was too big. There is no exchange option. You can buy a new smaller size and return the other item, but you have to pay your own postage for the return. The email I sent to customer service went unanswered and the chat did not work, no matter how many times of day I tried. In the end, I paid a total of $40 on postage for an item I will not own. Spend less money on Instagram ads and more money on customer service, friends! They lost a first-time customer and I am actively encouraging people not to buy from this brand. If you can't do online sales right, then step down.

Haven’t received order

Haven’t received order. Placed in September 2025. It is now January 2026. Customer service is a sham. Only generic responses to email enquires. Not able to speak with a human! Phone number online is not in service. Complete disappointment. Would not recommend ordering online. Will wait months if you are one of the lucky customers to actually receive your order. They have my money. I have no sweatshirt.

I never leave reviews

I never leave reviews, but I had a very poor experience with this company. I made my first purchase with them during their black friday sale, however I never received the package. I immediately reached out to them via email and had to call the store in order to receive a response. Then I had to wait almost 2 weeks for them to “investigate” and come to a resolution in which they informed me I would not receive a refund or replacement. I don’t have a history of claiming missing packages and I haven’t heard anyone in my area complain about missing packages. I’m very frustrated and disappointed in their customer service. Never ordering from them again.

Poor customer service

I got three items for a special function, but none of them worked due to fabric issue causing my allergy.
So, I brought them back to the store in Sherway Garden , Toronto, but I was told they were not retunable, and I can only exchange. So, I spent about an hour to look and try on new things. Finally I got something ok, In th end, I only had .97 cents low, She asked me to look around, around and around, but I could not find anything around that range. Acutally she had a pair of socks on her counter, but she did not tell me, I said to her that you shoud have told me about it to save my time. She said" tell you what... ? "Very very roudly.

Very bad customer service

Very bad customer service. I realized I ordered the wrong size the minute I ordered. I could not cancel nor change my order even if it wasn't shipped wet. The online chat does not work (unavailable) and they respond to email 24 hours later to tell you it is impossible to make the change even if the order was not shipped out yet! I was able to get a RMA since I paid full price but it would have cost me $25 and 17 days to retrurn back to their BC Surrey location. I am located in Quebec.

Absolute garbage and scam of a company

Absolute garbage and scam of a company. I ordered a $200 dress in July. It’s December and it still hasn’t shown up. They keep saying they will refund me but keep stretching the time line of when that will be. There’s no where to leave reviews. I wrote that they were scammers in their instagram post and the blocked me.

STAY AWAY!! Company not reputable. Definitely a scam.

TRUST ALL THESE NEGATIVE REVIEWS! This company is in bankruptcy. They have closed numerous stores in the US. You can’t return anything. They don’t have reviews on their website. Stay away!! They will be out of business very soon.

Ordered THREE items for delivery to my daughter in another state. Only TWO arrived on November 1, 2025. Sent email as that is the only way to purportedly reach them - no phone number; chat was never available. Over a week to reply to my email. Requesting pictures - of what??? Item wasn't included! Will have to dispute with credit card company. Definitely won't order from them again.

11/23/25: Just received an email from their fraud detection. After providing all the info they requested, they sent this email which is the same sent to other customers:

Thank you for your patience!

After a thorough investigation, our team was able to confirm that CG-14290-W-CHARCOAL-OS was included in your package as the item was successfully scanned through our system and accurately matches the weight of the parcel when collected by the shipping courier.

Based the information provided by you and the evidence gathered during our investigation, we regret to inform you that we will not accept your claim for missing items and will be unable to assist you further on this matter. Please understand that our decision follows our internal loss prevention policies, and as such is final.

We understand that you may not be satisfied with our decision. Should you choose to file a claim with your credit company, BBB, or any other relevant entity, our loss prevention team will fully cooperate with any requests they send us privately. We will provide them with all the documentation collected during our investigation so that they can assess your case based on the evidence available.

!!!!!!!

The label weight showed 3.1 pounds. I weighed the TWO sweaters received less plastic wrap and they weighed 3.0 pounds!

Poorly managed company

I have made a big order, more than 1k, only to realize their clothing looks really cheap.
I have made a return, paid more than 50$ for it from Canada, for a few items, and only got money back for one item. I am missing more than 900$, and they are not replying to my emails. Their chat is always off.

Wtf???

Should’ve been warned! Beware.

Can confirm that the other reviews here are true. I wish I saw this before placing my online order! They didn’t send me my jacket and then claimed I was lying when I said I didn’t receive it. They said they checked their cameras and weight and so they can’t assist me. If I had maybe claimed something like this before I’d understand the hesitancy but to immediately assume the customer is lying and not doing anything to rectify it was disheartening. Lost some money but won’t waste another dollar here again.
