Zero Accountability + Unethical + Unprofessional
Scheduled a medical procedure 3.27.26. While having
necessary drugs in my system for said procedure, arrived at
6:30am. Barely a hello and was presented with a paper that
stated I would need to pay almost $6000. I asked several
times, "Is this before or after insurance?" The person could
NOT confirm brushed it off and told me, "Go ahead and we'll
have you call this number once things are complete to find out." I did NOT sign the form. There was no one to call at that time as it was 6:30am. A few weeks later, I received the EOB from my insurance company for almost $8000. Upon calling the billing dept. at the hospital, I was told, "This is your responsibility. You should have left the hospital without
having the procedure if you weren't going to pay." The legal protocol is, someone is supposed to call the patient, BEFORE to let them know what their OOP would be and I never got the call, never got an email and got nothing via usps. How was I supposed to know? If I had, I would have NEVER gone through with it. Reached out to the CEO of the hospital and only got a call back from the billing dept. stating they will lower the bill to the original of almost $6K that I NEVER signed or agreed to. Additionally, I've received
other bills from Anesthesia and Pathology which I had zero clue I'd be receiving. I understand I'd have to pay something after insurance but the fact remains, no one reached out in anyway to alert me to what the OOP would be and now I am on the hook a ton of money that I do not have.
