What started recently as a straight forward Darlington Cycle Club ride to Fletchers Farm Cafe for lunch, returning via Great Ayton, got interesting when my Mavic R-SYS rear wheel decided to implode shattering part of the rim, fortunately at low speed but locking the rear wheel in the process and exploding the rear tyre as the shattered rim pierced it (one of my co-riders alongside at the time thought he'd been shot!).
By chance we'd just passed 200m back NRG Cycles in Great Ayton where I returned to and who were able to supply a used wheel they had, which was repaired and trued there and then to get me home (a very good HED ARDENNES LT PLUS wheel at a cost of just £20 all in!). Fantastic service and hospitality - a big thanks to to the manager and mechanic there without whose help would have made for a long wait for me to get a lift back to Darlington from my youngest son after he finished work! Pushing the pace on my solo return home tested the newly fitted wheel to good effect and which really impressed!
What a day and just as well I wasn't travelling at speed at the time of the wheel failure - the Mavic R-SYS wheels had been well used but were really nice! This salutary tale is a reminder to check your wheel rims periodically (use a metal ruler if you can) to determine the wear on the rim if it's caliper brakes you use. If like mine you could put your fist through the gap then expect problems! I can't recommend NRG Cycles highly enough for the help and assistance they gave me and was really impressed with their immediate service, many thanks!

Just bought a new emtb from NRG cycles and its been a pleasure from start to finish.
Great comms from Simon keeping me up to date with the delivery of the bike from the manufacturer all the way through to it going through the workshop ready for me to receive.
So today i a 4-hour trip up the great north rd to pick up my new stead and was greeted by some very helpful and friendly staff.

Could not have been happier with our visit today. Took my five year old to get a bike all the staff were very welcoming and informative. Made him feel very welcome and made his bike buying experience lots of fun. We now have a very happy boy with a bike he loves. While we were there asked questions about child bike seats for my youngest and staff were very helpful offering to fit in my bike to ensure it was safe etc. We had previously been to Halfords where the staff just grunted at us when we asked questions.

NRG cycles went above and beyond my expectation from the moment I was in contact with them. Sorted me out an amazing bike with a few upgrades, nothing was too much to ask. Amazing customer service, much better than other bike shops I have been in!

I am impressed from the service - much better from larger online shops.
