Frozen Accounts, Incompetent Service– Avoid This Bank
I am writing this review as a warning to others. My experience with Nomo Bank has been nothing short of a nightmare, and it is clear that this institution has no idea how to run a professional banking operation.
As others have reported, the biggest issue is the arbitrary freezing of accounts . This happened to me without any clear explanation, leaving me unable to access my own money. What followed was even more absurd. The compliance team began interrogating me about every single transaction. They demanded evidence for things like meals with friends, asking me to prove that it was actually a meal and even requesting private WhatsApp messages as proof.
This level of intrusive scrutiny is not only humiliating but also completely disproportionate. It’s clear they have a broken system where they freeze first and ask ridiculous questions later, with no regard for the customer's convenience or privacy . As another reviewer perfectly put it, they ask "the silliest questions about why and where you spend your money" .
Throughout this ordeal, the customer service forget that they are holding real people's money. If you value access to your funds and don't want to be treated like a criminal for buying a meal, stay far away from these amateurs.
There are plenty of other digital banks in the market that actually understand customer service. Do yourself a favour and take your business elsewhere.

Over the past several years, this bank has offered excellent and highly convenient services. However, more recently I have noticed a decline, with processes becoming increasingly slow and less user-friendly. I hope management will address these issues and restore service levels to the high standards experienced two years ago.

I opened an account with Nomo Bank expecting a modern and transparent service, but my experience has been very frustrating. My account was suddenly frozen without any clear explanation, and despite providing every document requested, I was left waiting for few months with no proper updates.
The customer service is slow, unhelpful, and often repeats generic responses without resolving anything. This situation caused me significant stress and even affected my business operations since I couldn’t access my own money.
After a long wait I had to report them to the financial obusman and he forced them to return my money , but the damage was already done. I would strongly advise others to think twice before banking with Nomo — the lack of communication, accountability, and transparency is unacceptable.

This Bank is highly unprofessional. They have zero KYC and ask the silliest questions about why and where you spend your money. I have closed the account. They do have a good online app, but it's not worth the hassle. You are dealing with a faceless entity with no point of contact other than email.

Extremely Disappointed with Account Suspension Process and Customer Service
I am deeply disappointed with the way my account suspension has been handled. My account was suspended over 10 days ago without a clear explanation, leaving me unable to access my funds. Despite providing all the requested information regarding a legitimate payment from a recognized organization, the bank refused the transaction and returned the funds without justification.
To make matters worse, customer service has been unhelpful and unresponsive. Every time I call, there is no clear information provided, and they seem to waste time with no real answers or solutions. This lack of accountability and professionalism is unacceptable.
I was also informed that resolving this issue could take up to eight weeks, which is an unreasonable delay. The lack of transparency, poor customer support, and the inability to comply with fair UK practices make this bank unsuitable for anyone expecting reliable service in line with UK standards.
I strongly urge potential customers to think twice before choosing this bank, as my experience has shown they fail to prioritize customer concerns or provide timely resolutions.
Disappointing experience.
was excited to open an account with this bank, but my experience has been disappointing. I tried twice, and the passport verification process is neither user-friendly nor efficient. Given the advanced technologies available today, there should be a better, more seamless way to verify identity.
The process felt unnecessarily cumbersome, with lengthy instructions to read before taking a selfie—yet the selfie feature didn’t even work properly. To make matters worse, I received an email claiming to include instructions for taking the selfie, but no such instructions were attached.
Overall, the experience was frustrating and far from the level of convenience I expected. I hope the bank can address these issues and streamline the onboarding process for future customers.

I and 3 fellow Saudi friends signed up and all of us were rejected, everywhere I’ve looked online is full of people getting rejected, seems to be gathering people’s passport and ID photos.
Secret terms and conditions
This bank has a lot of incomprehensible things, lack of transparency and rudeness. They claim that accounts are offered to residents of select GCC countries. I reside in one of them.
I downloaded their app and submitted every single document they asked for. Shockingly, they denied opening the account for unknown reasons. I contacted them many times, honestly, they have poor customer service, rudely said we don't have to provide any reasons and the UK laws doesn't force us to do so.
Firstly, you don't have to hide behind outdated laws to justify what seems to be unethical and unacceptable behavior.
Secondly, its very clear they're targeting specific type of clients. They claim, they're offering accounts for residents of UAE, KUWAIT & KSA but looks like they exclude some nationals and expats living in the perspective countries.
Anyway, this bank doesn't worth your time and you can get way better service anywhere else.

They refuse to work on my account limitation for over 4 weeks now telling me there is a team that has to look into it. Always replying a basic pre defined answer. Very strange customer service, especially when so much funds are frozen...
Money not paid to account holder whilst account was frozen and then closed ! AVOID !!!!
I have send money to a Nomo bank account holder and his account was frozen , yet the bank didn’t return the money . After having countless discussions with my bank - it turns out that the bank shouldn’t have accepted the transfer (£2300) when the account holder has his account frozen / closed . It’s been 6 months since I’m chasing this . I shamed them on x - they tell me msg support . I’m not the account holder so I do not get info . The account holder mailed on a weekly basis / no response . They call themselves sharia complied - yet steal their customers money ( by closing their accounts ) this bank is a shame . I’ll report this to the police because this behaviour is not acceptable! Avoid at all costs !!!!
Nomo Bank's compliance officers are frauds!
My lawyers and the lawyers of my uncle are now
filing a lawsuit against Nomo Bank's fraudulent actions. Nomo Bank's compliance team have been making up various reasons to hold their customer's money. My uncle sent me money (just under 3,000$) on the 8th of August as a part of the family support. It's been more than 2 weeks since the money reached Nomo Bank, but not my account. Bank of America and Barclays GB received confirmations via SWIFT-messaging that my money is withheld by Nomo Bank.
In the lawsuit I am claiming 20,000 pounds of compensation and I will do my best to cancel NB's banking license. I spend my own money, far more than this withheld 2,800$, to save other people's money from scamming activities by these frauds in Nomo Bank.
