Poor experience with Nissan Cyprus (Pilakoutas Group)

This review outlines my experience of Pilakoutas Group who are the representatives of Nissan in Cyprus. Any emails I sent to Nissan Cyprus were routed directly Pilakoutas Group.

My experience with Pilakoutas Group during the Takata airbag recall was, without question, the worst customer service experience I have ever had.

To be clear, I am not blaming Pilakoutas for the worldwide shortage of replacement airbags. I understand that parts supply was ultimately a Nissan issue. My complaint is about the way Pilakoutas handled my case from start to finish.

Communication was consistently poor. Emails went unanswered for weeks at a time, despite me repeatedly asking for updates. When I did receive replies, the information was often vague, contradictory or simply overtaken by events without anyone bothering to tell me. I specifically asked many time how to make a complaint and was ghosted.

At one stage I was told that the factory had no stock and that I might have to wait until April or even longer. After receiving no response to my last two emails, I telephoned Maria in Nicosia to ask why I was being ignored. During that call she discovered that the replacement airbag had already been delivered to the Paphos branch. Nobody from Paphos had contacted me. Had I not made that phone call myself, I genuinely wonder how much longer I would have been left waiting while my car sat unnecessarily off the road.

Because of this recall my car failed its MOT, could not be taxed and was effectively unusable for months. Throughout that period I had to rely on hire cars and repeatedly chase Pilakoutas for information instead of Pilakoutas keeping me informed.

The day of the repair perfectly summed up my experience.

I delivered the car at 8:00 am and was told I would receive a phone call in the afternoon when it was ready. By 3:00 pm I had heard nothing, so I phoned Fotis myself. He told me the car was ready for collection. I immediately paid for a taxi and travelled to the dealership.

When I arrived, I was told the car was not ready after all and would be another twenty minutes. While waiting, I then watched my own car being driven into the workshop, strongly suggesting the work had only just started.

After waiting again, I challenged Fotis and asked him a very simple question: when he told me at 3:00 pm that the car was ready, was it actually ready? Instead of apologising for wasting my time and money, he claimed that he had told me on the phone that the car would be ready at 4:30 pm. That is simply not true. Had he told me 4:30 pm, I would never have taken a taxi immediately. Rather than admitting an obvious mistake, he attempted to rewrite the conversation.

Eventually the paperwork arrived from the workshop. Fotis ran across the room, grabbed it from his colleagues, ran back to his desk and threw my car keys down in front of me before stamping my recall certificate.

In my opinion, Fotis is the rudest and most incompetent person I have ever encountered in a customer service role. I personally would not employ someone who told lies and lacked integrity. That is not a statement I make lightly. It is based on months of poor communication, contradictory information, ignored correspondence, and finally the way I was treated on the day my vehicle was repaired. A simple apology at several points during this process would have gone a long way. Instead, every interaction felt defensive, dismissive and sometimes dishonest.

The recall itself has now been completed, and for that I am grateful. However, completing the repair does not excuse the way customers are treated while waiting for it. The lack of communication, ignored emails, misinformation, unnecessary taxi fares, wasted time and poor attitude turned what should have been a straightforward recall into a months-long ordeal.

I sincerely hope Pilakoutas Group reviews the way it manages customer communication during recalls, because no customer should have to fight this hard simply to find out what is happening with their own car.

In addition, Nissan may want to consider whether they want Pilakoutas Group representing their brand in Cyprus.

Nissan Europe are not to be trusted

What a shambles this company is. Didn't understand my requirements, didn't know the specifications of the vehicle, Nissan Europe have not released the details of the vehicles to the insurance companies, so it is not possible to get an idea of how much the vehicle will be to insure. The tipper body company cut the factory fitted wiring loom causing damage and the showroom never noticed. The showroom drove over 300kms in the new truck without telling me. Electrics were missing. Agreed compensation was withdrawn and so, settle down with a cup of coffee before you read why you should not order a new Nissan and buy a Renault instead.

I was in the market for a new 3.5t tipper, one that could carry the biggest load, to replace my Movano that could carry 1.3t. Fiat, Citroen, Renault and Nissan were the contenders. Ford transit couldn't carry the load unless I went with a bigger truck.

Renault & Nissan are the same truck. Renault were super helpful, but came in at 2800euros more for the same vehicle, so Nissan Interstar 3 chassis with tipper was chosen. From here it went down hill.
Bergerac Nissan had no idea what the carrying capacity was, so after talking with Nissan Marmande, who were a tiny, tiny bit more knowledgeable I explained to NIssan Bergerac that I would be using Marmande. Bergerac Nissan contacted me to explain they could do a better deal. They couldn't.
Order placed in August, excitement was building. A big purchase of 44000euros.
The truck (minus tipper body)finally arrived, freshly made by Nissan for inspection. All seemed well. Towbar electric connector in place, towbar not fitted though.
The truck had to go to JPM in Bordeaux (75km) for the fitting of the tipper body.
Since placing the order in August, I have spent many evenings searching for insurance. This has been hindered by Nissan, as they have not supplied details of their chassis vehicles to the insurance database. Even as I write this on 30th Dec, and after having finally talked with a senior director in Paris, they have still not understood the problem. I can get quotes, by vehicle brand and model for every van Nissan make, but not a pickup or tipper. Nissan argue that this is because to get insurance for MY truck, I need the registration. I explained and explained again that I understand that to insure MY truck I need the registration of MY truck, but I am not getting quotes for MY truck, just a Nissan Interstar 3 tipper.
Now, had I been trying to get a quote for a Renault, not a problem. Renault have released all the information to the insurance company database, so I can get a quote. Quotes have varied between 440Euros and 660Euros.
The vehicle arrived back from JPM with the tipper body fitted.
Now, by this point my excitement was somewhat reduced. Just so I could get the vehicle registered and driven home, I decided to send the balance outstanding. Then I changed my mind. I thought I would look at the vehicle. I made an appointment to go and see it.
I arrived and the salesperson wasn't there. Nobody knew where she was. She wasn't answering her phone. Nobody in the showroom could explain where she was and why she wasn't answering her phone. It was 4pm. I went over to the truck and walked around it. Straight away I realised there was a towbar fitted, but no electrical connections. The man in the service department couldn't explain it. NOBODY HAD NOTICED!!!
Now I have concerns that the factory fitted wiring had been tampered with. Brilliant.
I got in the truck to find that the kms had risen from 8kms to 310kms. Somebody had driven my truck and driven it quite some distance. 302kms.
I sent an email asking where the towbar electrics were and why there was an extra 302kms on the odometer. No response for 2 days.
The saleswoman finally messaged. She had been on a trip to Sunderland to look at the Nissan factory. Well, the UK are only an hour behind, time wise, so answering the phone and emails shouldn't have been a problem. Surely someone at her work knew she had gone to another country instead of wandering around
I had paid an 8000Euro cash deposit for my truck.
After 12weeks of emails and phone calls I had finally had enough. I refused to pay anymore money unless senior manager corresponded with me to confirm that they were aware of how customers were being treated. I explained I would only communicate with a Senior Director. they finally grasped that I was holding firm.
A Senior Sales Director called, knew nothing about the problem, but after 30mins, offered compensation. Dealership agreed to pay it immediately. 7 weeks, still waiting.

Nissan alomost cost my life

I've purchased a second hand Nissan X-trail from Germany. It was Diesel 2.0, with 94.000 km. Vechicle got me almost killed, when after 3000 km of driving, vechicle caught on fire while driving. I barrely manage to escape with my family from the car.
When i complaint this to Nissan, they got me an email with explination that is no manufacturer fault, without inspecting the car.
Vechicle was maitenaned in Nissan services for whole lifetime and it was inspected after purchase in authorized service. No signs of error, nor pre-warnings from the car that this could happened, which almost cost life for me and my fammily. And no signs from Nissan that they care for that.
I would strongly recommend not to buy Nissan becaise of their realabilty and customer care

Nissan Ireland Cedar group.

Nissan Ireland Cedar group,
Been in contact with Nissan customer care regarding an estimate supplied by Nissan randles bros Ltd Tralee.
After being told to come in by Padriag Mc Carthy, then informed to leave my details with Mitchell at reception, I was finally informed today via phone that if they done the repair payment would have to be made in full, stated that would be fine up to estimate anything over would be paid by Zurich.
Mr padraig then advised me they can not do the repair. ?
Glad I finally know no-one likes to be messed about, wasted my day visiting ect.
Logged a complaint & leaving an honest review.
Now need to consult ombudsman, & hope to get car fixed ASAP. Know one thing will never purchase a Nissan vehicle again.
