I have been using NFO for many years and I will say they have the best service in the business and top notch servers. The staff is very helpful and fast to respond to your needs.

I've used them for years with no problems.

I have used this company for years for my wedding planning business website. Great pricing, never a problem, great customer service when my webdeveloper had a question. Good notifications when they are doing updates, etc. I am moving on from weddings and closed my website, but I will definitely be using nfo again when I need my next one! Heck, they even checked in to see if everything was okay when I shut my site down. Thank you for years of great service!

2 Years of the best service I could ask for

I've used NFO for the past 2 years and I have nothing but good things to say. Their support is friendly, available, and timely. Their communication with clients is top notch, you're never left wondering the reason for any issues, I was informed of attacks and maintenance consistently. Setup was extremely easy, upkeep was just as simple. Cost is incredibly efficient for most projects, and competitive with other providers such as Digital Ocean and A2, I'd also recommend NFO over most mainstream web hosts. For game servers NFO is a staple in reliability and trustworthiness. Many hosts will gouge you, but NFO lets you pick what you need and lets you go with it for your projects. There's even a direct link for donations for smaller use cases that goes directly to keeping the server online, it really simplifies things for the client so they can get to what they desire for their service.

Thank you so much to NFO for helping me create the best memories of my lifetime thus far, and being responsible for not only hosting my websites and servers, but many of the best quality servers on so many games I enjoyed in the past 7 years.

Hands down one of the best providers…

Hands down one of the best providers on the market. I've been a customer of NFO for some years now, and over that time I've had voice servers, game servers, virtual machines and dedicated servers. You really can't beat what they offer.

It's weird to think about, but NFO has been in business almost as long as I've been alive! For this market that's hard as it's constantly ebbing and flowing. As far as I know NFO is the only provider that still has the original owner at the helm, everyone else has either folded shop or been bought out.

I primarily stay with them for a few reasons.

1) support & communication. Their customer support is truly top-notch. They respond within minutes during normal business hours (something everyone claims, but barely anyone follows through on), and they have excellent communication. If there's an outage, or upcoming maintenance they notify you ASAP directly through the control panel. It's nice not needing to track down this information and just have it pop up in the control panel.

2) Performance
Since the beginning of my signing up here, NFO has always had been keen for performance. They really take this to a new level by owning all aspects of their infrastructure, and even offer an SLA and performance guarantee. This is frankly just unheard of for a game server provider(though they are much more than that now) While a lot of these companies rent their hardware, or resell others networks NFO does not. They own their network, hardware and in most cases their IP blocks. This is very important as it ensures our IP won't change randomly, and allows very quick turn around times for purchases, upgrades, or even network tweaks. I've worked with John (the owner) on several occasions where he's been able to make routing adjustment for me and my team to ensure we have the best path possible. My own ISP won't even do that for me!

3) Price. Back in the day NFO definitely wasn't the cheapest provider around. You didn't come to NFO for cheap, you came for quality. As they've grown NFO has lowered the prices, expanded offerings while continuing to offer the same great performance. Every year, multiple times a year I see a post about a price reduction. The best part about this is I get to take advantage of the latest pricing, then lock the price in for life. It's amazing. I think I've seen my bill drop 20-$30(per month) over the course of three years just for being a customer.

4) DDOS Attacks. Back when, NFO was the only provider who could actually protect you from attacks. Pretty much every other provider would blackhole you immediately and if you kept getting attacked they'd kick you off their service. This was devastating, as it happened to us a few times. NFO on the other hand never did this, they understood that I myself were a victim of these attacks and worked with us to resolve them to the best of their ability. NFO has made it clear, they are not a mitigation provider and have zero interest in being one, but they also won't turn their back on you. Some years back I noticed they started rapidly upgrading their locations and adding mitigation devices to better defend their customer (all for free mind you). Thankfully, I don't see any real attacks now, it's nice to know if it happens I'll be protected.

Alright, enough nice things. suggestions/complaints

1)Website/control panel. I really wish NFO would spend some quality time with their website. Pretty much since day 1 the website/cp have looked the exact same, and it's always bothered me. I don't understand how a company which has no physical presence and reaches 100% of it's customers via an online website can spend so little time making it look good. It works, it's functional, but it's ugly and doesn't employ any modern design or interfaces that you see nowadays.

2) File storage/backups. While NFO does take backups of their managed services, they do not for unmanaged. I would absolutely pay for the privileged of doing this directly through NFO. I would also 100% pay for access to a CIFS/NFS file share that I could use to offload files to or even use as a shared drive between my services. These are honestly pretty easy to do with modern solutions.

Some minor additions. I'd like to be able to upload my own ISOs for virtual machines (they'll add it upon request, but does take extra time). I want KVM access to dedicated servers, and I'd love to see the firewall option for virtual machines carried over to dedicated servers.

Customer of 10 Years.

I've been a customer for 10 years with NFO Servers.

NFO Servers is an excellent all-around independent host, whether it's just for web hosting or you need quality dedicated servers for more intensive projects, they always have a solution.

Over the past 10 years, the connectivity has improved as speeds have increased and more importantly latency outside of the server's region has decreased by ~30%.

If you're thinking of hiring a server for competitive eSports, whether professional practice or as an interest, I recommend NFO over competitors such as GameServers, XFactor, Avante and Summit.

If you're hiring a server for a production environment or business, I also recommend them as the customer service team are knowledgeable and even though NFO Servers does not have tutorials like Digital Ocean, and other larger providers, the indie nature of the company means that you won't be passed from CSR to CSR, It's a very personal experience compared to larger hosts yet at the end of the day, it's the same hardware for roughly the same price.

As someone whose worked in the internet services industry, I can say that John (the owner) and his team are very dedicated to their company and the customers they serve.

Recommend this service 100%

I’m renting a server with their service and so far It’s been really smooth and the control panel they offer is very powerful. As all my friends live in the US I am renting a server that’s located in Chicago even though I live in the UK. Now, this may seem a bit stupid as it wont feel the same as a server hosted close to home, but I only get around 100 ping which is perfect and feels smooth enough to me. I definitely recommend this service as it’s well priced and easy to set up.

Edit: I submitted a help ticket today and support helped me instantly. This company clearly cares about their customers. Not only that but the company is also upgrading DDoS protection a ton. Keep the work up!

I've been renting from them for years

I've been renting from them for years. Servers are top notch, you get the performance you pay for and the customer service.... honestly anyone else I've tried doesn't even come close in both attention to detail with the customer and resolving issues quickly most of the time within a few minutes. Not once have I had to wait days for a response. Highly recommend.

Great DDoS Protection and Performance

NFO has suprised us!
We heard good and bad about this company, so we thought we may give it a try ourselves.
Our CS:GO Server was up for 30 days (testing period of ours) and this is what we liked:
- never went down to any ddos attack
- never went down to high player counts
- great SV and VAR
- latency and performance did well
- customer support is nice and friendly, and actually knows their job
- prices are okay too

All in All we are very happy with NFO Servers so far!
5/5 Stars!

DDOS Protection that doesn't suck, for once!

I've used NFO for just under a year now, and due to the nature of my service, we encounter lots of DDOS attacks from petty and high-value servers (My highest ever recorded was around 25GB attack and NFO mitigated it without any downtime) using all sorts of attack vectors. NFO have been the only provider that has never failed me. They're support is amazing and reply almost instantly and they have an excellent control panel which let's me see previous and current DDOS mitigation efforts amongst other events. They also include TCPDUMP in the help section which is something i have never seen before in a web control panel.

In short, these guys are the best. Period.

~ What could be better?
Only thing I can think of is that the control panel doesn't have an API since i'd love a way to pro grammatically see recent events but that's very nit-picky and isn't even worthy of being noted.

excessive cpu consumption restarts ?

I am leasing a rust server for quite some time. and since I am in nfoserver I have always had the 200% cpu limit problem it is a very annoying problem because the server restarts automatically ... I am currently using a 50 usd plan and my server goes down using only 6 basic plugins. .the price is high enough for this kind of thing to happen ..

Fabian, Rust can be a very intensive game, but there are some things that we can look at with you, and we should be able to adjust the built-in emergency system that restarts runaway servers, if your usage is legitimate and expected. Please contact us about this directly -- we take pride in offering excellent service here. It isn't necessary to go through a 3rd party review site to receive support from us.

I've been using NFOServers on and off…

I've been using NFOServers on and off since 2010. I have tried multiple other providers, and have yet to get any server as responsive (High ticket servers). Depending on what you are looking for NFO can cost more or less, but their servers are backed up by a great support team.

I usually get a response to my support ticket within an hour, and If i have to escalate to a higher level I have yet to wait longer than 24 hours.

Their servers also have pretty good (D)DOS attacks. one of the gaming communities I was part of had huge issues with DOS attacks, and NFO was the only company that didn't have the game server completely freeze up

Mixed feelings

We have rented a full machine from NFO for about 4 years now and our hardware is getting outdated compared to their current packages. I started by making a ticket to request a price adjustment on the bill, this was their reply:

""I could give you a further discount on a new machine, if that would help you. As you noticed, an E3-1270v3 machine would be far more capable than what you have: Perhaps 30% faster, with double the RAM, double the hard drive space, and a larger SSD. We would certainly be able to assist with moving your existing IP address over, as well.""

They are very helpful when it comes to new machines and upgrades, but loyal subscribers like myself are being forced to overpay on slower machines or pay top dollar to upgrade.

This is really just a warning for long term users. If you plan to keep the service for more than a year, you might want to look somewhere else.

May change this review if I'm able to work out a deal with John (CEO of NFO).

Billy Bob, this appears to be from a support request where the customer already had a discount on an older type of machine that we no longer offer and was asking for a deeper one. Since that type of machine is obsolete and is actively being decommissioned (we don't offer it any more and we are physically removing and discarding all old machines of that type as they are freed up), we offered a discount on a newer machine that nearly matched the price on the old one, allowing the customer to essentially upgrade for free.

This is not a customer-unfriendly move. Obsolete machines really do eventually need to be taken out of commission, and they cost us more to operate than new ones. We are not forcing the upgrade -- the customer has the option of keeping the machine (at the current low rate) indefinitely -- but we do strongly recommend it, and we are providing an extra discount to make it easier.

This seems to us like a very good way to help out a loyal customer who has been served well by us for years already, and a good argument for why others who are planning to rent for the long term actually should do so: A customer saw and took advantage of price decreases for years, then had the option of the convenience of continuing with that same hardware (grandfathered forever) or receiving an upgrade to a new machine with minimal hassle and without losing IP addresses.

Performance and Worlds Best Staff

Hands down the best server provider I have ever used, and the only one I will ever use again! Not only are the game servers, VDS, and full machines top-notch (Having rented all 3), but the staff is amazing. I seriously cannot say enough about how helpful the staff is in any situation. From general server advise to billing to general inquiries, they have been able to solve every issue, with a response time that makes me wonder if the staff sleeps. (Don't think i have ever waited more than 15 min for a response to a ticket) If for some reason they are not able to handle an issue or question, the President/CEO himself will step in and personally start answering your questions. The performance brought me in, and the customer support has made me a customer for life! Thank you NFO <3

Copy of a letter sent to NFOServers.

I made this a month ago and have been sitting on it since I honestly didn't want to talk to ya'll anymore. But after some thought it's worth saying.

I'd like to express my extreme disappointment it was never thought to make the basic consideration of extending or at least *communicating* to me about the deletion date as I was actively discussing with support about it.

How did this thought not come up *the day I sent in my confirmation*. also apparently the day it was about to be deleted. (And already deleted from the database?)

Overall I find this to just be an inexcusable lack of basic foresight on multiple occasions from support and yourself.

A: This 2 week time limit should have been mentioned in the final payment notice: [IMGUR LINK]

B. It also should have been mentioned when I first started talking to support: [IMGUR LINK]

C: It obviously should have been mentioned in the days leading up, and especially the *day of deletion*, when I was emailing support: [IMGUR LINK]

B: It absolutely should have been at least mentioned by you when you sent this email 7 hours before it was going to be permanently erased: [IMGUR LINK]

Again, I'm completely astounded by this basic lack of foresight and consideration on multiple occasions.

This could have been easily avoided in many ways.

I've also found the support after deletion to feel crass, and seemingly blaming me for being unaware of the time limit. Without even the smallest of apologies for the inconvenience the deletion causes.

(Yes I'm sure the 2 week time limit is mentioned in some obscure location, ask yourself if it's user friendly.)

Had that server for a year and a half, in that time we've built up a very unique configuration for our players.

It's not impossible, but going to be a major PITA for me to completely redo and take multiple days at the very least and only make what is currently a difficult time more-so.

All I did was update my card because it expired, apparently while accidentally using a VPN. This never should have been that big of an issue.

Although at this point I largely consider our business resolved, I think it's important I share my extremely disappointing experience dealing with even top-level people at this company with others and will be doing so.

I'll probably just paste this message or portions of it on relevant review sites.

This customer had a VDS service that was shut down due to a string of payment failures, compounded by the customer's use of a high-risk proxy to make some of the resubscription attempts (triggering a risk hold). Two weeks after the VDS was shut down, the disk image was automatically deleted by our system.

The customer made a support request to ask about resubscribing, and the staff helped him there, responding promptly and professionally each time. There were only a couple of steps needed to resolve the payment problem by the customer, and these could be completed within a matter of minutes, so there was an expectation that it would quickly be resolved. But, at several points, the customer took days to respond, which unfortunately extended the request and pushed it all the way to the automatic deletion date.

The customer should have been warned that the service was about to be deleted -- that was a clear, simple mistake on our end, and we own it and have apologized for it. We have not blamed the customer for not knowing about it.

We also tried very hard to recover the disk image for the customer, after the deletion, but were unable to do so. (Ordinarily, the image file for a VDS is still available for at least a few days after a full deletion; unfortunately, unlucky timing led to the weekly cleanup operation deleting this customer's on the day after it was erased from the database.)

We haven't seen this specific set of circumstances happen before with a customer, across the decades of leasing services here. But, going forward, to help prevent it from happening again, we have:

- Adjusted our system to provide clear warnings in payment failure emails that a service will be deleted after two weeks. This was not previously included, and it may not be mentioned on the site, either (it has generally been an informal courtesy).
- Performed internal training on the importance of extending erasure dates as necessary and making sure that customers are aware of the two-week period.
- Started looking at improving messaging to customers to prevent such customer-side mistakes as what happened here: We are clear throughout the ordering process about not using a VPN, but there may be a way to improve that warning somehow; we also mention the importance of external backups in a few places on our site, but there may be other places that we should include this.
