Annapurna Circuit with Kritam

My friend and I hiked the Annapurna Circuit arranged by Nepal Trekking Experts. The months leading up to the hike was Rajesh a big help in answering questions, with an incredible fast response rate! We had a warm welcome when we arrived with a nice hotel, welcome dinner and help with buying/renting whatever we were missing for the hike. We had the pleasure of the company of our guide Kritam. Kritam was an incredible company to our hike. We learned a lot about the mountains and Nepalese culture while just having so much fun with lots of laughs! Kritam took care of our every need and made sure we got the best rooms and reserved a spot next to the fireplace in the evening. Very quickly did it feel like walking with a friend and not someone you just met. We truly made memories for life!

Manaslu Circuit Trek

Manaslu Circuit Trek -
My partner and I have just completed the Manaslu circuit!
From my first email to my 20th, Rajesh was always there to respond very quickly and informatively. He even allowed us to have a video call with him to discuss some information. Rajesh is always there to help you have the best experience in Nepal even if it is not business related.
Everyday of our trek was 10/10. Our guide ‘Kamal’ picked us up from the airport, and took us out for our welcoming dinner in Kathmandu.
Kamal is very friendly and knowledgeable, he took the time to explain and teach us so many different things every step of the way. It was our first time trekking and Kamal helped us to relax and be comfortable at all times. Our porter ‘Ram’ was great, he powered through each day effortlessly. Each night Ram and Kamal would provide us with fresh fruit for dessert which was amazing as it was a surprise to us! We have had the greatest time on this trip and we are already thinking of our next trekking trip in Nepal. Without question I would not look past “Nepal Trekking Experts”, the services Rajesh and his team provide is above and beyond!!!

Manaslu and Tsum Valley

Manaslu and Tsum Valley with 2 young kids.
Rajesh was an awesome host. He ensured we had the best overall experience possible. He ensured a warm welcoming and transfer from airport to our selected hotel and back on the dates we wanted as we arrived before the trek and stayed longer after as well. He selected a great guide and porter for our family. The porter had a pretty good english and we were able to communicate with him as well as the guide which was a big plus! Throughout the trek, our guide was in contact with Rajesh in office. We felt safe and as though the best Tea Houses and rooms were chosen for us by the Nepal trekking expert team. Our 2 children (10 and 11 years old) are great trekkers but the team were flexible on the planned schedule to accommodate any rest days we felt were necessary.
This circuit was a great suggestion and we would definitely recommend this itinerary and trekking company as they put the heart in soul in giving you the experience of a life time.

Totally untrustworthy

The worst experience on a four-month trip through the Middle east and Asia. What was supposed to be the highlight ended up being the lowest - ironic given that it took place in the Himalayas.

The owner, Rajesh, is right out of the used-car salesman playbook of sleaze, insincerity, and bait-and-switch tactics. Imagine going in to buy a Porsche, paying up in full, only to receive an old Ford. The dealer says sorry, states that there was something wrong with the Porsche, refunds you the difference for the two cars, and leaves you with something you never agreed on. Welcome to life with Raj and Nepal Trekking Experts!

I paid up and planned for a combination trek that included the stock route through Tsum valley and Manaslu, following which we were supposed to go on a new and exciting route through to Nar Phu, totally untried and planned as a replacement for the classic Annapurna route.

Unfortunately, it was crystal clear within days that things were amiss, because it became evident that the guide had no idea about the Nar Phu leg and thought we were on the stock route through Tsum valley and Manaslu. It beggared belief that he would have gone in cold not knowing, because the Nar Phu leg required extensive planning and logistics, not least in having an extra porter lined up to wait for us at the end of Manaslu with the extra camping gear and food. Once we hit the Manaslu leg it became abundantly clear what the planned get-out clause was going to be, because the guide started spouting, day after day, that Raj was having 'problems' lining up the permits for Nar Phu because a major religious holiday was due on the day we finished with Manaslu - with months to plan ahead, and knowing the dates, this 'expert' company would somehow overlook that? Then they tried for another angle, with the guide summarily 'quitting' after agreeing to let me go ahead on my own to the next village so I could find a hot spot to text my daughter on her birthday. He didn't quit on the spot, of course, but said he'd see us through to the end of Manaslu - then quit. Right.

Throw in two extraordinarily self-involved young companions I allowed to join the trek, whose only interest throughout the whole journey was to smoke their brains out on the trailside marijuana, legally endangering the trek and the guide's license. Then add in the toxic atmosphere created by the guide towards the end of the trek. Put it all together, and it could be safely stated that the trek was a disastrous experience. I'd planned on this trek for 30 years, longer than either of my two reprobate companions or guide have been alive, and at my age it was my one and only shot at realizing my dream.

I sat in Raj's office after the trek for close on 90 minutes, and listened to the whole BS routine - I even recorded it in on my phone for posterity just to let him go on record with his mountain of rationalizations and lying. In his eyes, giving me the refund for a Nar Phu leg he never intended to live up to somehow made it alright. Either way, he received his fee, his guides and porters got work - never mind ruining someone's dreams along the way.

I know I'm not the only one who's received the same treatment with Raj - a friend from Australia also planned on the extra leg through Nar Phu, and had it pulled out from under her near the end of Manaslu - slick as ever.

I should have known right from the beginning, because my wife and I agreed to rewrite all the content for Raj's web page in return for a modest discount for the trek, work that amounted to cents on the dollar for all that we put in out of goodwill. Along the way we discovered that most of the content had been plagiarized from other sites - the content for Bhutan had been lifted verbatim from the official sight for the country - and that Raj's 'expertise' only extended to a certain number of treks. It became so ridiculous in some instances that we were becoming the experts from afar, pointing out errors, suggesting changes to itineraries, etc.

The kicker that I also should have heeded is that I spent an entire day, prior to the trip, hunting high and low for a camera he wanted me to bring over for him. Even though I was up to my eyeballs trying to get ready for my trip, I went out of my way to get him the best price possible. Raj's response? On arriving in Kathmandu, I mentioned the need to buy a down jacket, and he quickly whisked me round to a friend for a 'special discount' - too bad I'd already done my homework and realized the price was twice the going rate. Same again when I saw the costing for the trek, including the charge for my porter - Raj had him down at the daily rate for guides of $25! Nice guy, right?

Only days before I left for my trip, he sent us a couple of new trek ideas to try and squeeze out of us writing-wise, complete with the rival web sites he wanted us to use for source material! So be warned!

Nepal trekking experts

The Trek more than met our expectations, it was a wonderful experience and we couldn’t fault anything.

Our trip was organized by Raj. He made good suggestions for locations, where to go and what to see and he understood our needs perfectly.

After our trek was customized, Raj took care of all logistic matters e.g. bus to Pokhara and back, hotel in Pokhara and also found a local guide for us.
Our guide Bikash was friendly, enthusiastic, always cheerful and extremely well informed and professional, we could not ask for a better guide!
A Trek in the beautiful nature of Nepal with Nepal Trekking Experts is like going on an adventure with friends, but without having to deal with all the logistics of the trip.

Nepal Trekking Experts is very serviceminded and professional and I would highly recommend this agency to anyone, anytime!l

10/10 - See you again!

Tsum Valley and Manaslu Circuit Trek

I contacted several agencies 2-3 months before arriving in Nepal, but only Nepal Trekking Experts provided the combination of itinerary, service and price that I was looking for. Rajesh always answered my emails very promptly and I felt he was someone I could trust. That trust was not misplaced. The eventual itinerary was a 20 day trip to the Tsum Valley and around the Manaslu Circuit with Rabin (Rajesh's brother) as the guide. Rabin was excellent and his knowledge of the route must be second to none. He and Rajesh are from the Manaslu area and Rabin has completed the trek about 30 times! He was relaxed and patient and very good company during the hard days of walking and in the evenings. We did make some amendments to the itinerary along the way and Rabin was happy to accommodate them after explaining the various options available. The trek itself is incredibly diverse and beautiful, but there are many ascents and descents, so it may not be the easiest trek. However, if anyone is looking for a trek away from the more frequented trails of Annapurna and Everest, then I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. I also wouldn't hesitate to recommend Nepal Trekking Experts and I will definitely use them again on my next trek in Nepal - my 5th! Tim Fulcher, UK

An incredible experience on the Manaslu Circuit

We just returned from an unbelievable trip to Nepal, and loved every second of it. Nepal Trekking Experts helped us organize a trip around the Manaslu Circuit for my partner and myself, and we have nothing but good things to say about them. Rajesh responded to all of our emails promptly and thoroughly, and made sure everything (permits, transportation, etc) was setup before our arrival. He also treated us to a lovely dinner and was a great resource for our independent travel around the country after the trek. Our guide was Bhoj, and we are now good friends! He was a great guide: always knew the way, knew the names of the mountains, animals, and plants we saw, shared stories about Nepali culture and Buddhist/Hindu culture, and always had pomegranate in that magical backpack of his. Oh and he's an excellent card player, so watch out!

All in all we highly recommend Nepal Trekking Experts to help you plan your trip in Nepal. We also highly recommend the Manaslu Circuit, as it was such a beautiful (both physically and culturally) experience. We hope to return someday and hike in another region, and when we do, we will contact Raj and Bhoj.

Best trekking experience!

I've been trekking with the guys at Nepal Trekking Experts several times by, latest in September '17. The reason I choose these guys is the fact that they understand how to customize and create amazing experiences. The amount of experience, professionalism and friendship that are offered by Rajesh Neupane, his brother Rabin Neupane and the guides and porters, makes you feel part of a family.
I warmly recommend the guys at Nepal Trekking Experts for everyone searching for that extra level of personal service and prices that are fair!

I'll be back again for sure!
