Bait and Switch

At first I was excited about speaking with National Debt Relief because I had heard a number of good things. I have credit card debt due to life just happening; medical emergencies, a family member passing away suddenly and trying to help the household. Everything happening all at once.

I reached out, I will say I’m not behind and I have a good history with my creditors, but that was the rub. The reason I say that was all NDR wanted to do is take out a consolidation loan which was quoted for already around what I was paying! So essentially they were simply shifting my debt while getting a 25% cut, instead of reducing it down and a completely different amount then I was quoted! When I reminded them of this and that I would have to think about it, when I called the number back, an agent hung up on me. Then when I called back another agent picked up and said my name and tried to pull the same bull, saying they would call me back on another day but never gave me their extension or email. They couldn’t even answer the question ‘what would happen if I lost my job? Would there be a hardship program?’ Please ask these questions.

With consumer protections being lifted, please be very careful. Agencies are taking advantage of the hike in the cost of living, which is affecting the average person a great deal, becoming more predatory and looking to fill their pockets while they can. There are government and state run debt repayment plans. Just Google. I have and I’m going to try them instead and it will cost less and they definitely don’t recommend another loan.

Reply from National Debt Relief

Hello Anna,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are sorry to hear that your interaction with our team did not meet your expectations, especially during what sounds like a very challenging period in your life.

National Debt Relief evaluates each client's financial circumstances to determine available options, and in some cases, a loan product may be presented if it is believed to be an appropriate solution based on the information provided. However, participation in any offered solution is entirely voluntary, and clients are encouraged to carefully consider all available options before making a decision.

During the enrollment process, we explain that, in order to negotiate effectively with creditors, it is often necessary for clients to temporarily stop making payments on enrolled accounts. This approach helps create the negotiation leverage needed to pursue reduced settlement amounts. We understand that this strategy may not be the right fit for everyone. However, as it is a common component of debt settlement programs, our team makes every effort to clearly explain the process and provide resources designed to support clients throughout their journey.

Our program is designed to assist individuals experiencing financial hardship, and we understand that unexpected challenges can arise at any point during the program, including job loss or other significant life events. While program progress is dependent upon the availability of funds to support settlements, we have established processes and support options that may help clients navigate financial difficulties while working to keep their program on track. We encourage clients experiencing changes in their financial circumstances to contact us so that available options can be reviewed.

Our goal is to ensure that individuals seeking assistance receive clear information that enables them to make informed decisions about their financial future. We understand that our program may not be the right fit for everyone, and we're very sorry to hear that our services did not meet your expectations. Please do not hesitate to reach out in the future should you require further assistance. You may also call during our hours of operation between 9:00 am and 10:00 pm EST at 888-660-7427.

Thank you for considering National Debt Relief

The company is doing exactly what they…

The company is doing exactly what they explained to me they would do. I get updates from them practically every month and they have managed to negotiate with my debtors to reduce the cost to satisfy my loans over a two year period of time. This has reduced my stress markedly.
