Do NOT apply for a credit card with…

Do NOT apply for a credit card with this company.

I’ve made my payments on time with this company for the ENTIRE time I’ve had 2 credit cards with them. I receive an acknowledgment email within minutes of when the payment is made. The problem is the threatening texts I receive the day after I make my payment. In the last six months I’ve received three texts stating my payment was late and to call them immediately.

I finally called and got excuses from both CSRs who told me it was a “system glitch.” I asked them to confirm my ON TIME payment history, which they both did, but neither could give me a reason why I was sent those late payment texts. I asked them to explain it to me, because it’s stressful to receive these texts, and it’s also rude to harass their customers who’ve already paid. Neither could give me an answer. And yes, I know I could opt out of getting texts, but I prefer to get them if there’s any unauthorized activity.

No one can or will answer my question.:(

Horrible customer service

They do not respond appropriate to inquiries. Their co managed serve ice with Ashley is poor. Mostly because the Sales agent at Ashley home store mismanaged the communication. The card annual fee of $100 is more than the $79 product that I bought. No communication about an annual fee was presented to me in a way that made me aware.

36% interest rate

36% interest rate. Steep annual fees. Increases as your limit increases. Glad I was declined. Go with Merrick Bank or Credit One if you're that desperate for a credit card. Avoid Fortiva. 36% should be enough to turn you away. It's despicable.

Fortiva Assessed Fees on a Closed Account

I paid off my Fortiva account in Nov of 2022. After this was paid off the company charged me a $79.00 Annual Fee which I was notified about in Feb 2025 as a collection account. I have attempted to call Fortiva about this issue and did not get anywhere. They did assess an additional $30.00 fee for this, where the balance I had to pay is now $109.00 for an account that was paid and closed.

Worst customer service I've…

Worst customer service I've experienced. Requested 10 months of purchasing. Called several times and spoke with inexperienced, illiterate and poor communication skills representatives. Each representative spoke with eastern accents so thick it was impossible to continue the conversation. They weren't able to process my simple requests. I am shutting down my home depot account and look forward seeing all the foreign and illegal employees going back to their country. If they can't speak proper English they shouldn't be employed in our country. Especially a job in communications!

They Make Payment Logistics Nearly Impossible

I had a Vivint home security system installed recently; however, their alleged customer credit providing agency, Fortiva, makes it nearly impossible to pay. I have attempted to pay online and after multiple phone calls to try to resolve the faults on their end, resorted to paying via check. Fortiva has stopped sending me billing statements, and I have better things to do than to memorize the due dates of their payments. Now they have resorted to calling me and harassing me for the payments. Simply send a paper statement, or better yet, provide a user-friendly online portal for your customers.

Beware: Unexpected Fortiva Account Change with Vivint Financing

We purchased a Vivint security system in November 2022, financed through Fortiva with a 60-month, zero-percent interest agreement. However, in June 2024, we received a notice stating that Fortiva was converting our Vivint account into a general-purpose Fortiva® Mastercard® with a 24.99% interest rate—something we never agreed to. This change was not part of our original terms, and we did not request it. Beware of both Vivint and Fortiva, as this feels like a deceptive practice. We have just closed the Fortiva account and are now considering switching to a different security system provider.

Unfair Refund Policy

My account was given to Fortiva by a home security company (Vivint). I did not apply to Fortiva directly for credit. I was sent a paper statement by Fortiva for which they charged me $2.00. Their first payment was deducted from my checking account on time. The home security system was uninstalled & returned to the company the day after Fortiva deducted my first payment from my checking account which was on Jan 16th 2025. On Jan. 24th I still had not received my first payment refund (8 days later). I was told by customer service that my refund would be processed within as much as 20 business days & I would be sent a refund check by mail, minus the $2.00 paper statement fee. If Fortiva was able to deduct my first payment electronically from my checking account then why couldn't they credit my refund electronically to my checking account? They had no answer to that question. They would rather make their customers wait up to 20 plus 8 days for their refund but they take payments owed to Fortiva electronically and on time. This is so not right and totally unacceptable business practices.

Big Mess

i got a letter in the mail saying they were raising my interest rate to 35.9. I have never been late on payment.
I called in and asked for lower interest, i was told my card is not eligible. Odd before that the rate was lower.
Payed a pament over the phone on the due date. The payments online will set a payment date for multiple days later. I look at my account today and they charged me 41.00 late fee. WHY?? .The payment was made by 130pm on the due date. CSR said they would remove it but I won't hold my breath on it. Don't get involved with this company. Start out good but all down hill later.

Report fortiva to cfpb to start a class action lawsuit

I have reported fortiva 8 times to the CFPB and they do not honor what they have said to cfpb. I suggest everyone starts sending complaints to the cfpb and we start a class action lawsuit. Go to Cfpb complaints and send the complaint. On Dec 8th I received an offer called match 50 for my two credit card accounts. A 500 dollar account and a 1000 dollar account

I fell behind for the first time and one account in 2 months went to 744 and the other account was over 1200. There endless fees. They only gave me the match 50 on the account with a balance of 744. They said pay 496 and we will pay the 248 which paid off the card. On Dec 8th I paid both cards and a retail card for vivint. 496 600 and 297 to pay off the retail balance. The 496 followed with a credit would be added in 10 to 14 days as usual! Two of the payments showed on Dec 9th I used my debit card. The retail payment showed on the 10th and the amount was for 246 instead of 297. When I opened my fortiva app fortiva took the 297 payment and changed the amount and moved it to the match 50 account and used my money instead of giving me a credit. Then an email followed stating thst I was disqualified from the match 50 because I paid the balance?
Let me be clear, they just said I paid 496 on Dec 8th and was waiting for a credit from the match 50. They said 2 days later I went in and paid 246 and paid the match 50 and disqualified myself? Now why would I do that. Now I followed up with my bank and I got a confirmation that I attempted to pay 297 and somehow the amount is showing 246 and the bank had no answers on how this could occur. I looked up AI and fortiva could have contacted the bank before the transaction went thru and changed the amount. Does that sound legal because the bank knew on dec. 8th my initial attempt was 257? I went back thru my accounts and paid the remaining balances and fortiva contacted cfpb and honored the changes. I paid l the remaining balances. The retail account showed I overpaid a 1.87. Fortiva also told cfpb early in Dec theae accounts are closed and paid. A few days later a balance of 246 was added to 7101 and a 9 dollar interest charge showing a zero balance. The second account showed a zero balance and the third account the retail account shows a balance of another 246 added after it was a negative 1.86.
I hsve contacted fortiva and the bank of missouri and they assured me the accounts were closed and paid. I opened my dec statement and 7101 said I owe 34 dollars jan 24th 2025 from the balance of 246 plus 9 dollars in interest after they reported to the cfpb that everything was closed and paid. The dec statement for the retail account that they added 246 that was paid shows I owe 18 dollars on January 18th 2025. Also on the statement it says if the payments are late there will be a 41.00 LATE fee. Fortiva also reported these amounts to the 2 credit agencies saying I still have a balance even though I have every amount I paid and every email stating I paid these balances. They reported false information to the credit bureau and continue to say I owe money. I have since then sent several complaints to cfpb and last week they replied to the cfpb claiming theae accounts are paid and closed. I just looked at my app. The accounts are not closed and paid. I have a payment they created and added due in 2 days and one coming up in one week. As of January 8th it has been over a month and when I call they say it will take 8 to 14 days to see anything. When I called bank of missouri they just don't care and this is the bank that issues this financially abusive credit card. There is no one at fortiva that will help fix the situation and the customer service feeds into the lies and deceptive business conducted. The cfpb will take action when enough people complain. Other things fortiva did to my account, they continually added overdraft protection an optional service that I declined manually over and over to charge a fee. Fortiva also new the day I was paid every month and sent my payment 4 days earlier than the day I got paid and continually charged me 41 dollar late charges on 2 separate accounts. I called 3 times to change the payment dates and I was told it would take 2 billing cycles and they never changed this. I would advise anyone who has experienced this abuse from fortiva to report them to cfpb so we can start a class action lawsuit and get our money back!
We need to stop abusive credit card companies from the excessive fees and deceptive marketing scams.
Please step up and report them to cfpb!
Fortiva shouldn't be allowed to keep accounts open when we pay them off. They shouldn't keep charging maintenance fees and late fees on closed paid accounts.
I have never experienced anything like this. Most companies like capitol one reward the customer for paying off their balance! Not fortiva credit card connected to bank of missouri.

Misleading Practices, Unauthorized Account Opening, and Potential Regulatory Violations…

I had a highly disappointing experience with the Fortiva Retail Credit Card. I initially opened the account as part of a financing program for Vivint equipment (0% financing). From the start, it negatively impacted my credit score. The credit limit assigned matched the total purchase amount of the Vivint equipment, leaving me with a 100% utilization rate right out of the gate. This unnecessary approach and immediate ding to my credit score was incredibly frustrating. It felt like poor planning on Fortiva's and Vivint's part. Had I known this in advance, I would have simply used an existing credit card to pay the balance outright—the 0% financing wasn't worth it through Vivint.

What makes matters worse is what happened in November 2024. Fortiva opened a new Mastercard account in my name without my authorization. This reeks of serious regulatory and compliance violations. The lack of direct consent or explicit authorization to open a new account raises potential violations under federal consumer protection laws, such as the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and the Truth in Lending Act (TILA). Additionally, this practice could violate regulations enforced by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), which mandates clear disclosures and customer consent in all credit-related matters.

Unauthorized account openings not only breach trust but also create significant risks to a consumer's financial health and privacy. Such actions undermine an individual's ability to control their credit profile and expose them to potential identity theft and financial harm. This behavior suggests systemic issues at Fortiva, and it screams of the need for regulatory scrutiny or even a class-action lawsuit to address these grievances.

These practices reflect a severe lack of transparency, accountability, and customer care. I deeply regret ever signing up with Fortiva and, by extension, Vivint, as their partnership facilitated this frustrating experience. I strongly caution others against using any of Fortiva's services. If you value your credit score, competent financial management, and maintaining control over your financial health, look elsewhere.
