Motel One is not a Motel

Turned up to find they don't even have a car park, let alone parking outside the room as is the case with every other motel we've stayed in.

Reception staff directed us to a car park down the road that cost almost as much as the room we booked.

Motel One Glasgow

The hotel was in an excellent location.

The wifi was excellent .

I found the beds very comfortable.

I'm surprised that this hotel chain is less heard of.

The facilities were very classy and practical .

Nice property but not really suitable for business travel

Ok we know this is a cheap and cheerful hotel but the little things can annoy. I was staying for a business meeting the next day. I asked on check in if there was an iron in the room as I'd need to iron my shirt for the next morning. She said she would get one dropped up.
So a few minutes later an iron was dropped up to my room but no ironing board. I was in a hurry so didn't have time to wait. Silly.

100% location, style, comfort, value at Motel 1

Had an overwhelmingly positive experience at Motel 1, Dublin. Most central location, friendly, helpful staff, sparklingly clean, modern, stylish interior, very comfortable room with all facilities, great continental breakfast with lots of choice. All for 99e midweek.Honestly couldn't recommend it more highly.

Terrible experience at Motel One Bremen…

Terrible experience at Motel One Bremen – very rude and unprofessional staff

We stayed at Motel One Bremen on October 6th, arriving late in the evening after a long drive with our dog. At the reception, the staff clearly saw that we had a dog with us — we even asked for a bowl for him. We paid for the room at check-in, received the key, and nothing at all was mentioned about dogs not being allowed. We were told checkout was at 12:00.

The next morning, October 7th, someone knocked on our door several times. We shouted that we didn’t need cleaning and then hung the “Do not disturb” sign, hoping to finally rest. But the knocking continued. When we finally opened the door, it was (apparently) a cleaning lady who rudely told us: “Dogs are not allowed in this room, you must leave.” She was not only completely unprofessional but also kept knocking despite the clear “Do not disturb” sign. No apology, just rudeness.

At checkout, we tried to explain the situation to the receptionist, but she was equally rude, ignored our complaint, and stayed completely silent when we asked for an apology. Only when we said: “Hello? Are you just going to ignore us?” did she even react — and still with no apology.

We would not have minded paying a pet fee if there had been one, but the way the staff handled this situation was absolutely unacceptable. Instead of professionalism and courtesy, we experienced rudeness, incompetence, and complete disregard for the guests.

Shame on Motel One Bremen — never again!

Excellent City Centre Hotel with friendly staff

I found this hotel online, not always the best place to find accommodation, but I struck absolute gold with this one.
The location couldn't have been better, especially for someone arriving by train from Paisley. The side door of Glasgow Central literally leads you to a short walk across Argyle Street to the front door of the Motel One.
Great reception team, always friendly and helpful, the room was not huge but perfectly adequate and kept beautifully clean every day by Iryna. Nice touches for Be One members included a large bottle of still or sparkling water on arrival and a large bowl of free sweets on the front desk.
My tenth floor room was totally quiet when the windows were closed and the bed so comfortable that I actually slept better than I do at home.
My one small criticism is the recycled plastic beakers for hot drinks in the room.
Trying to hold a hot drink in a container without a handle is not for me.
At £13.50 for what looked like a pretty average breakfast in a far-too-small space was not for me, so the Cafe Sono beneath the railway bridge from Central Station won my custom to start the day with their excellent freshly-cooked breakfast.
I paid £480 for 5 nights, which I thought good for a city centre venue, especially one as good as this.

Business trip in Vienna

We went in Vienna for a business trip in this hotel. Rooms are good with a beautiful view, toilets are also good but were not cleaned.
The towels are simply folded and put back in their place since I found my hair even the next day.
I had also a bad experience because the third day when I came back from work I didn`t find my powerbank and 2 rings (left the ring on the table before I went to work).
I notified this at reception and they said that they take care and I go out for dinner.
When I came back the ring reappear in my room.
STAY AWAY from this hotel.

Rude staff, substandard amenities

Stayed at Motel One Manchester Piccadilly on 30 August 2025

Negatives include:

An extremely rude member of staff on the bar, called "Shareal". The front desk staff were tired of receiving customer complaints about him. This individual should not be in a customer-facing role and (with all respect) possibly has some behavioural difficulties that I hope he gets help for.

beOne members get a free bottle of water, but it is not chilled, and there is no fridge in the room.

The King or Double bed is actually two beds pushed together, so you fall down the gap in the middle.

No milk for the tea and coffee in the room.

Nowhere to put used tea bags.

Cheap plastic cups in the room instead of china cups like literally every other hotel (they can't be bothered to do the washing up, it seems).

Weak water flow from shower.

No room service, or ability to order food.

Overall, it is like paying a lot more than a Travelodge or similar, but having an objectively much worse experience.

Motel One Royal Exchange hotel in…

Motel One Royal Exchange hotel in Manchester has many small rooms on each floor, resulting in constant door slamming noises. The building is short and lacks any view. The breakfast is bad, and also I was assigned a room designed for disabled guests. One morning, the cleaning lady entered my room early, even though I hadn’t checked out. The security is poor, as anyone can access the rooms, and there is no security guard. The room temperature is too hot, and the staff are unhelpful and poor in English. We waited at the bar for a long time, but no one came to serve us.

Berlin’s own comfort zone

This is regards to Motel One Alexanderplatz Berlin. This hotel is my favourite place to stay in Berlin, my comfort zone, from the smiling attendants at the front desk to the great service and clean rooms. Zero complaints and always a pleasure. I’m coming back again (for the 5th time)

Motel One Edinburgh

My sister & I stayed Thursday to Sunday in a double room at Motel One, Edinburgh Royal. We were on the 4th floor overlooking Market Street. The hotel staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. The hotel itself was very clean with a modern aesthetic; the room was well kept and presentable. The soundproofing on the windows was good but Friday and Saturday night there was increasingly more noise coming from local bars up until midnight, however this was not unexpected given the location. The bed was very comfortable. We paid to eat breakfast at the hotel one morning - it was a continental buffet laid out in the bar area and was very relaxed with a great selection of food and drink. The central location is ideal for exploring and we made the most of the 12noon check out.

Discriminatory Treatment and Incorrect Information

I am writing to lodge a formal complaint regarding the poor treatment I received during my recent stay at your Motel One hotel, located at Invalidenstraße 54, 10557 Berlin, in the early hours of 18th September 2024 around midnight and the middle of the night. Following my arrival from a business trip.

Prior to my arrival, my German partner contacted the hotel by phone to inquire if there were any available rooms. He was assured by the staff member who answered the call there were indeed rooms available. However, just three minutes later, when I arrived at the hotel, I found three employees at the reception engaged in conversation. I politely asked one of them if there was a room available for a short stay. The individual I spoke to responded in an unfriendly and dismissive manner, stating that the hotel was fully booked and no rooms were available.

I questioned how this could be possible, given that my partner had literally called just three minutes prior. The staff member replied that he didn't know and repeated that no rooms were available. I asked again, only to be met with evasive responses. He then claimed that he did not actually work there and was only "helping out" but was unsure of the situation, suggesting I ask his colleagues. His behaviour and reluctance to provide a clear answer left me feeling discriminated against, as it seemed that he simply did not want me to stay at the hotel.

I made it clear that I would not tolerate lies or games, as I had asked several times and was met with dishonesty and inconsistency. It was evident that I was being treated unfairly. This individual, I should point out, was dressed in the same uniform as the other hotel staff working at the reception that night, which makes his claims of not working there even more dubious.

I am deeply concerned by how a supposed 4-star hotel could allow such unprofessional behaviour at its reception. It is alarming that someone could confidently decide who gets to stay at your hotel without ever trying to assess the situation properly, while assuming I may not be able to pay for a room. The colleagues standing next to this individual remained silent throughout, complicit in the poor treatment I received. They clearly overheard my simple request, yet chose not to intervene.

I regret to say that this experience reflects poorly on your hotel's customers service, and I am strongly considering pursuing a formal complaint to ensure that no one else has to endure such a treatment. Had the staff communicated courteously and explained from the outset that the hotel was fully booked, I would have understood. However, the lies, inconsistent information, and discriminatory behaviour I encountered were completely unacceptable and unprofessional.

I understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise, but this situation resulted in a considerable was of time and a highly negative experience.

As a Portuguese citizen, I believe that respect and fairness are fundamental rights, and discrimination is a serious offence.

Munich-Campus location

Munich-Campus location.
You absolutely can find better accomodation at a lower price. For what you pay, the rooms are small and basic (a squeeze for 2 people, no fridge, basic amenities). Breakfast is basic (Continental only). However, the location provides good public transport connections.
