Beware of unsafe stairways
In September I experienced a fall on the main stairway with no safety hand rail at Mitsis Alila in Rhodes Greece.
I sustained 2 fractured fingers and a broken hand and am currently receiving constant hospital treatment.
MItsis ignored my first attempt to contact them on my return to the UK.Upon the 2nd attempt they conveyed concern for my injuries and offered 50% off a further holiday which I refused.
They stressed on my response to their offer they complied with Greek safety rules.Apparently a main stairway with no safety applied is okay according to MItsis management.
I have tried to correspond further with MItsis but now they ignore my emails.
I would strongly advise any people visiting MItsis Hotels to take care on the marble stairways as any claim for potential negligence will be probably ignored.
I have nothing but praise for the MItsis staff but don’t expect much communication after an accidental issue if you book through a foreign booking agency.
Food awful. They mis-sell this hotel and location.
The photos make this look stunning, but don't be fooled. It looked fabulous so we paid twice what other hotels were charging & it is a rip off!!
Whilst the rooms were nice, the food is AWFUL!!
They advertise al-a carte restaurants, but getting into them is impossible. When I complained to the agent I was told I should have booked them weeks in advance - but I was not told, nor did I expected to have to do that...
The all-inclusive deal is not so good when it takes FORVER to get a drink - you have to wait for staff who take ages to get to you to take the order, and then ashes to bring the drink to you.
Worst of all- I paid for an upgrade for a sea-view beach bungalow but endediup in basic room, one row furthest back from the beach- but apparently, because I could see the sea, it was classed a beach bungalow - even though my room was in a normal block of hotel rooms and I was own the 2nd floor. There are NO bungalows!! & they fail to tell you that there is a main road between the hotel and the beach. The beach looks nice in the photos, but it is very rocky and you can't get into the sea easily to have a leisurely swim,
Overall, a bad deal and not worth the money. AVOID!!
Mitsis Selection Blue Domes, Kos
We stayed at the Mitsis Selection Blue Domes in Kos.
Food and Drink very repetitive with a choice every night of Chicken, Fish or Pork cooked the same way. Food left not covered with many flys and birds in the restaurant. Not impressed by the restaurants, only the South American which was good.
I had food poisoning with Sickness and Diarrhoea which I notice from other reviews is quite common. My husband wanted me to see the onsite Doctor but the thought of having to stay in the hotel longer than a week I refused.
Staff were rude at reception with no time to help and had no patience with the customer's, however, the cleaning staff were polite and helpful.
I feel for a 5* hotel and the prices they charge this is not worth the money paid and I will not be going back to the Mitsis Brand of hotels - very disappointing.
This is our second trip to Blue Domes…
This is our second trip to Blue Domes in Kos , I can honestly say it’s been absolutely terrible stay for us. On arrival to our room we went straight to the mini bar with only had a few tins of fizzy drinks in , we had no water no tea bags no sugar, the next day after a day by the pool we went to use all the lovely shower gels supplied by the hotel to discover we had none, we sent multiple emails to reception asking for shower essentials and were promised they will be in your room today!!! NOTHING ever arrived, we ended up being given shower gels from other guests, then to top of an already unpleasant holiday one of us picked up norovirus which apparently was rife in the hotel . Staff seemed stressed out and rude , the cleaners are lovely and hard working, sadly we won’t return to this hotel again it’s been truly eye opening.
It is impossible to make a reservation…
It is impossible to make a reservation at restaurants, even the guides at the hotel say that it is impossible to make a reservation.
The staff are angry when you try to order a soft drink that you have already paid for through all inclusive at the hotel.
The only restaurant that works is the Solvaki restaurant, here you don't have to reserve a place either.
The pool area is badly stained as every second grate around the pool is cracked, there was one who fell through and injured his foot and leg.
All in all a very bad experience, in fact the worst holiday experience we have ever had.
was zero stars an option had they got it.
Disappointing Stay at Mitsis Hotels
My boyfriend and I stayed at Mitsis Rinela and were really disappointed. The room didn't match the description, the staff were unhelpful, and the overall experience was far from the luxury promised. Definitely not worth the price.
Terrible
We stayed at Mitsis summer Palace for 5 nights. And after paying near £3000 for 2 of us (plunge pool in room) we have come back so disappointed, would never go back or recommend.
The plunge pool in its self was ok but looked different to what was advertised.
The rooms were nice.
The guys who restock your mini bar walked in everyday and ignored the DO NOT DISTURB sign.
Food was average as best.. this includes the restaurants. Drink choice was terrible. Could only bottled water at reception!!
The evening was lacking all together. It claims you can go to any bar but you aren’t made to feel welcome, so you end up in reception bar which just feels tacky in its self.
The gym needs some serious TLC .. I didn’t even bother going.. excepted so much more from a 5* hotel.
The staff are rude & you feel like they are laughing / talking about you when you ask for something.
We were not asked by the staff when checking out if we enjoyed our stay or anything along those lines.
We stayed at Mitsis Selection Blue…
We stayed at Mitsis Selection Blue Domes as a family with two children, expecting a relaxing and enjoyable holiday. Unfortunately, what we experienced was the exact opposite. From beginning to end, our stay was marked by frustration, discomfort, and a complete lack of service quality. For the price we paid, the experience was absolutely unacceptable.
1. Rooms and Hygiene Issues
From the very first day, we noticed a strong sewage smell around the rooms. It was so disturbing that we requested to change our room. However, what should have been a simple solution turned into a days-long ordeal. Instead of helping us quickly, the staff made it difficult, showing no real concern for our wellbeing. This smell persisted throughout the hotel grounds, making it impossible to enjoy even the most basic comfort.
On top of this, the minibar staff twice entered our room without permission despite a clear “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door. No apologies were given. For a hotel claiming to be 5 stars, such disregard for guest privacy is shocking.
2. Service and Staff Attitude
The reception and guest relations staff were consistently unfriendly and unhelpful. Instead of showing hospitality, they acted as though guests were a burden. Politeness, problem-solving, or even basic courtesy seemed entirely absent. At times, their attitude could only be described as rude.
3. Food and Restaurants
The main restaurant was one of the greatest disappointments. The food options were very limited for a supposed luxury resort, and worse still, most dishes were tasteless or excessively salty. Variety, quality, and freshness were nowhere near what a 5-star property should provide.
Adding to the unpleasantness, an older man stands at the entrance of the main restaurant, walking around as though he were the hotel director. In reality, he behaves more like an authoritarian school principal—constantly watching, speaking rudely, and making guests feel uncomfortable rather than welcomed.
The à la carte restaurants were no better. Although the hotel promotes them as an attractive feature, reservations were nearly impossible—always “fully booked.” On the rare chance you might get in, the food is far from exceptional and certainly not worth the effort.
4. Health and Safety Concerns
After dining at the hotel, we became ill with food poisoning and diarrhea. When we informed the reception, their response was dismissive: “No one else has complained.” No support, no medical guidance, and no concern whatsoever were offered. What makes this worse is that the hotel shop openly sells diarrhea medicine as though it were a regular part of the holiday experience—strongly suggesting this is a recurring issue for many guests.
5. Cleanliness of Common Areas
Due to understaffing, cleanliness across the hotel suffers. Around the pools and the beach, trash accumulates and is left unattended for long periods. This gives the entire property a neglected and unhygienic feel.
6. Positives (but far too few)
The only redeeming aspects of the stay were the clean sea, the fish swimming in the water, and the kind couple preparing souvlaki at the beach. These small highlights, however, are nowhere near enough to outweigh the long list of issues that ruined our holiday.
Final Thoughts
We are usually easygoing travellers who appreciate even small efforts to make a holiday pleasant. However, at Mitsis Selection Blue Domes, we felt ignored, disrespected, and let down at every turn. Complaints were brushed aside, service was unprofessional, and the environment was stressful rather than relaxing.
This is not a 5-star hotel. It is not worth the price, the stress, or the risk to your health. For families—especially those with children—this place is the opposite of what a holiday should be.
We strongly advise against staying here.
doesn’t deliver the standard you would expect from a luxury hotel.
The resort, from the outside, looks beautiful very clean, well-kept, and aesthetically pleasing. Most of the staff were nice, kind, and helpful, which made the stay feel more welcoming. However, a few staff members came across as rude and lacking empathy, which was disappointing.
The beach area was one of the biggest letdowns. Online, it looks much better than in reality. The sun-beds were very old and damaged, just like the umbrellas clearly in need of full replacement. This gave more of a budget-hotel feeling rather than a 5-star experience.
We stayed in a bungalow on the ground floor with a “garden and sea view.” In reality, while there is a garden, the sea cannot be seen because of the trees in front, and the beach is actually across the way. On top of that, the bungalow was full of ants, even in the bathroom and, unfortunately, on the bed. The furniture was very old, peeling, and outdated. No smart TV, and nothing available in English just German channels.
Food-wise, room service was nice, and the à la carte restaurants (especially the Greek one) were tasty and a much better experience. That said, it was very hard to book them as they were almost always fully reserved. The main restaurant was underwhelming: limited choices, food that felt more like canteen-style, and even the bread was not fresh.
Overall, while the exterior of the resort is lovely and there are some nice touches, the reality doesn’t live up to its 5-star label. Considering the price, it simply doesn’t deliver the standard you would expect from a luxury hotel.
Family trip

Mitsis Messonghi Beach Hotel
Mitsis Messonghi Beach Hotel – 3/5
Check-in was quick, and food was offered on arrival at midnight, though the night buffet was unappetising and seemed like leftovers.
We stayed in a family bungalow, which was spacious but dated. There was a strong sewage smell outside, and dirty plates were left at the door our entire stay. Towels were changed daily but felt worn. The beds weren't what we requested, and this wasn’t resolved until day three. Bathrooms weren’t properly cleaned.
Food at the main restaurant was decent but very repetitive. The poolside pizza and pasta bars were great, though queues were long. The bars offered only five drink options and also had long waits.
The pool areas were clean, and the many pools were a highlight. However, it was difficult to get sunbeds due to people reserving them all day.
Entertainment was enjoyable, and the kids’ arcade, car rentals, and play park were great additions. However, our anniversary booking via the app was mishandled, and we received the wrong celebration package.
Overall, the hotel needs updating and service improvements. It's not up to the standard of other Mitsis hotels we've stayed at.
Mitsi Norida - AVOID AT ALL COSTS
AVOID AT ALL COSTS – Mis-sold, Unsafe, and Completely Deceptive
We booked this holiday expecting a five-star, ultra-exclusive, all-inclusive escape as sold by Mitsi. What we arrived to was genuinely one of the worst travel experiences I’ve ever had. We left after six nights of a planned 14-night stay — and even that felt too long.
This place is not even close to five-star. In fact, I’d struggle to call it three-star. The level of neglect, filth, and misrepresentation is astounding.
What you need to know:
ZERO RESOLUTION FROM MANAGEMENT
Firstly, we spoke to management — but no solution or rectification was made. We were offered the completely useless suggestion of “speaking to the chef”, with the ridiculous suggestion he would cook for us separately - if you saw the “buffet” you’d know how ridiculous this is! We were also promised beach towels would be delivered to our room, which never materialised we didn’t check out until 24 hours later: It felt like they were just trying to pacify complaints without any intention of actually resolving anything.
FILTHY & UNHYGIENIC:
Pools covered in algae, filthy cushions, and communal areas that haven’t been deep-cleaned in what feels like years. Flies constantly swarm the buffet food, which is left uncovered. Dining tables go uncleared or when they are a school
canteen trolley trundled around scrapping plates at tables — genuinely disgusting.
The room staff do their best to keep the old tired 80s room clean but leave bags off rubbish and laundry at the door to every apartment
“block”
FOOD IS INEDIBLE:
Easily the worst food I’ve ever experienced at any hotel — let alone one calling itself “luxury.”
• Raw baked beans served to my daughter.
• A burnt omelette (there was fire as he cooked and I’ve never seen so much oil used. that tasted of smoke and nothing else.
• Prawns with black bits looked badand completely inedible (in their al a carte restaurant)
• The only passable food was pizza at the beach bar.
I could go on but what’s the point!!
I’m 21 weeks pregnant and ended up skipping meals out of concern for my health. My four-year-old daughter lived on fruit and cucumber, there was no child’s buffet as you would expect from — not ideal on what’s meant to be a relaxing family holiday.
the buffet restaurant is like something from 70s it’s hideous!
DRINKS ARE A JOKE:
Low-quality, non- branded watered-down spirits served in old gross plastic cups. No drink service to sunbeds — unlike every other five-star resort I’ve stayed at. You have to queue at the pool bar every time for 20 mins , and even then, the drinks are undrinkable.
TOWEL CHAOS & SUNBED MADNESS
For beach and pool towels
you’re told to trek to the beach to collect them, only to be told there are none left every afternoon we went. We were promised towels would be brought to the room — they never arrived! we had a whole last day they could have been delivered (promised at lunch time and we didn’t check out to the following day at 2pm) .
As for sunbeds? You need to be up at 7am latest to claim one. People lay towels down and disappear for hours, and staff do nothing to manage it.
SEWAGE SMELLS & DATED DECOR:
The smell of sewage hits you in several parts of the resort. The interiors look like a tired, gloomy from the 1980s - with the exception of the al a carte restaurant. Absolutely nothing “luxury” about it.
UNTRAINED & DISENGAGED STAFF:
Aside from one lovely staff member in the al a carte restaurant (Giorges), staff were either cold, indifferent or actively rude. Service is sloppy and inconsistent.
We also had a ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign on our door — and staff entered anyway. A total violation of privacy.
ACCOMMODATION MIS-SOLD:
We booked a sea-view bungalow and were put in a standard apartment block overlooking air-con units. What we got looked nothing like the booking images.the hotel have said that’s the accommodation well someone should explain to them going up stairs does not a bungalow make.
This hotel is deleting bad reviews. They have had mine deleted from Trip advisor - it explains the suspicious number of glowing five-star reviews. Don’t be fooled — the reality is nothing like what’s being portrayed online.
The fact that they are selling this as a premium experience is frankly outrageous.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL.
It is mis-sold, mismanaged, and misleading on every front.
I am now in another hotel and loving it- I will review that after the week here!
Very disappointing
Very disappointing – Not worth the money, not true Mitsis standard
We are a family of two adults and two children who booked a 14-night stay at the Mitsis Hotel from July 3rd to July 17th. We chose this hotel specifically because we wanted a comfortable stay with a private pool. We paid around €10,000 just for the hotel, excluding flights, so we expected high standards.
When we arrived, everything seemed fine. We were told to wait for our room and were given black wristbands that were supposed to indicate we were “VIP guests.” However, this VIP status means absolutely nothing here – we haven’t experienced any benefits from it at all, and there seems to be no point in even having it.
Once we got to our room, we were deeply disappointed. It was nothing like the pictures – much smaller, barely enough space to move around the bed. It did not match what we were sold online.
We immediately raised the issue via email and at the reception. We were promised they would “look into it within a few days,” but nothing happened. When we followed up, the staff couldn’t even remember us and referred us back to email – which we still haven’t received a reply to.
The food is disappointing and limited in variety. Our children struggled to find anything they wanted to eat, so we had to dine outside the hotel most evenings. The à la carte restaurants on-site are fully booked – we’ve now been here for over a week and still haven’t been able to get a table.
Service is generally poor. Only 2–3 staff members have been friendly – the rest seem indifferent or even annoyed. The minibar is only restocked every second day, and you only receive one bottle of wine upon arrival, which is laughable given the cost of the stay. We also weren’t allowed to get a bottle of water when leaving the hotel for a drive.
We have stayed at three other Mitsis hotels, and none of them were like this. This one feels like a 3-star hotel trying to act like a 5-star, and it’s absolutely not worth the money.
I do not recommend this hotel to anyone with even moderate expectations. It has been a major disappointment and has taken away from what was supposed to be a relaxing and luxurious family holiday.
After posting this review, I was contacted by the hotel’s general manager. He explained that this Mitsis property is not part of the “Selected” line, which is why the standard here is different from what we’ve previously experienced at other Mitsis hotels. He kindly offered to help us book the à la carte restaurants for the rest of our stay, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, he couldn’t offer a larger or renovated room as there were none available.
He also apologized for the unhelpful attitude we experienced at reception and said he would address it internally.
The hotel is in a beautiful location with a lovely view – it’s just a shame that we couldn’t get help earlier and had to post a negative review to be taken seriously.
Good experience
This hotel was lovely and clean. Food pretty standard but always available. staff friendly. The waiting time for drinks could have been better but overall experience was good
Customer treated differently
Currently here. Lobby staff nice. Filipino staff nice. Mexican restaurant staff and bar next door looked down on Asian customers. We paid our money why were English treated better 😡
Manger got back today offered a small compensation for late check and said would make sure all staff involved will be dealt with
Thank you
TRULY AWFUL - AVOID
TRULY AWFUL - FILTHY! Rated as 5* all inclusive, it was by far the most disgusting hotel I've stayed in - there was blood on the bathroom tiles, bedsheets stained, bathroom filthy, curtains discoloured, no duvet and the breakfast was completely inedible probably due to the air conditioning leaking everywhere in the main restaurant. Hotel offered to see if their sister hotel has availability which it did not and also offered an alternative room at 3pm - however after seeing blood on the bathroom tiles, the stench in the bathroom due to it being blocked and the 1 breakfast we tried being stone cold with the air conditioning leaking over the food/guests. My partner is pregnant and was left with no choice but to find an alternative hotel. Checked out the morning after arriving spending less than 18hours at the hotel. At the hotel any talk of a refund was dismissed and I was directed to OnTheBeach whom we booked it through. The tour operator put through a formal complain and not even a partial refund was offered. We paid for 7 days, we stayed less than 24 hours and the hotel could not event bring themselves to offer a 10% refund. Absolutely disgusting - the reason given because we did not view the alternative accommodation. The hotel is filthy and it is a scam to call it a 5* hotel. £2500 literally wasted and we had to find another hotel for the remaining 6 nights. Extremely disappointed and expected a lot better given the hotel was promoted as 5* when from what we experienced was a 3* at best. Complete waste of money - avoid!!!!!!!
False promises
This review is on behalf of N Kilner as they don't have an account and I was with them on holiday when the promises where made.
Went last August to the Grand hotel with my son who had been telling me to experience this hotel chain for years. The hotel experience has been great but upon check-in to the Grand hotel now up for renovations, we were asked if we wanted to join the storytellers scheme we said yes and thought no more of it until we went to the Rodos Maris in May and upon check in was told we did not have any points on our account from our stay in the Grand? We have questioned this with the storytellers but the long and short of it is we are told tuff luck your not getting the points even though we were told at check-in at the grand and check out. But this never happened. All the storytellers team are saying the account was not created at the time you stayed at the Grand therefore the points cannot be added. But as explained this was due to being either been miss informed by the Mitsis Grand staff or them not doing what they should have. My son got the points no issue?? To add insult to injury I have also booked again to go to the Mitsis blue domes in September 2025 now wondering why I have shown loyalty when it's clear they are not bothered once you have left and what you were promised at the time.
I though a hotel chain that boasts family values and a personal touch would have tried to resolve such a trivial thing it's not like I did not stay and even booked direct .
Mitsis Rodos Village- The most awful food!
Mitsis Rodos Village. I shall begin with the food, it was absolutely awful. We will never stay here again based on the food
For example I ordered an enchilada from the Mexican themed restaurant, what arrived was a wrap filled with nothing but fried onions no sauce just fried onions. My partner had Shrimp Tacos which was a taco filled with iceberg lettuce and two dry Iceland mini frozen prawns.
The menus had Ve for vegan and V for vegetarian except there will be Ve listed next to things like veal steak?
I had a fresh cream and strawberry crepe oooo sounds delicious right? What arrived was cream cheese and soaked blackcurrants and one slice of strawberry.
Themed restaurants you need to book before you go on holiday because they will be fully booked for 2-3 weeks. However when you dine in one it will be half empty all night. So I think they deliberately turn off bookings.
Top tips Brunch says it’s in Pan Asian restaurant it’s not it’s in the Greek… this was just the beginning of all the inconsistency to this hotel. Nobody seemed to have a clue what was going on and no mangers present nobody running the show.
Let’s break my food rant up a bit and let’s talk sunbeds. Yep this is a towel swiping hotel. We put our towels down at 9am went to grab a coffee to bring back to the sunbeds but as we went to walk away the pool guy removed all the towels and threw them on the floor. I said am I not allowed to go and get a drink then? He said “I don’t know and walked off”. The sign by the pool said no reserving sunbeds before 8am and don’t leave sunbeds longer than 1 hour. So I was breaking neither of the rules but this like the jobs worth got a thrill out of lobbing peoples towels. He was also very rude not 5 star professionalism.
NO IRONS PEOPLE YOU ARE WARNED! They will iron them for you but you have to take them to reception and pick them up. Baring in mind the reception is miles away you need to get the golf buggy there. There are plenty of them but no drivers. The only driver will be at the bar drinking though top tips to finding him.
Let’s move on to booze and refreshing drinks. It’s exciting drinks roulette you can order the same drink 5 times and get a completely different horrendous watery concoction each time. My favourite was a GINGER no-Jito ingredients were listed “Fresh Ginger, Mint & Apple Juice” so you can imagine the confusion as I watch the bar lady crack a brown sugar sachet into a glass, drench it in Apple juice and chuck in a lime slice. Hmmmm not quite right that, I asked for Ginger No-Jito the response “this is”
Perla and Lyn were amazing!! Only Asian staff seemed to have a clue what they were doing all the Asian staff were friendly attentive and top 5 star staff!!! The rest were gormless and had no idea who they were or where they were. Clear lack of management.
It took me 3 days to get some soya milk for the room. One guy said “hmmm I go check” he stood in the same spot and said “no we don’t have” so he must be able to dial in to the fridge telepathically which is rather impressive. Perla then came over we asked for Soya milk she said “sure I’ll get some” after 3 days of asking this question were weren’t hopeful but sure enough Perla saved the day and brought us soya milk for our room.
Avoid the pina colada it quite literally taste like cheesy sick.
Oh and the manager woke me up from my siesta to ask if I wanted to move hotels for one day on my last day and got to faliraki. Why on gods green earth would I want to willingly cause myself that kind of stress, what a terrible suggestion.
The hotel is stunning BUT this is not a 5 Star experience at all.
An excellent 5 star experience at…
An excellent 5 star experience at Mitsis Selection Alila, Rhodes.
We booked directly with the hotel which made sure all our requirements were met regarding disability access.
They even arranged free trasnfers and the whole process was handled easily and professionally.
Our room was a customized mobility room with all the fixtures to make our stay comfortable.
The whole of the hotel was easily accessible for a wheelchair and the pool lifter for disabled people to access the swimming pools was fantastic.
As an ultra all inclusive the hotel provided everything we expected, very good buffet, a la carte restaurants (free to use based on nights stay), with lots of other food and snack options, branded alcohol also available.
Hotel was clean, comfortable and all the personnel very helpful, courteous and happy to serve all their guests.
Big thank you to the following people whose service was truly exceptional.
Reservations - Tasos
Pools - Franco and Kalypso
Brunch - Iliana and Giorgos
Bar - Sakis, Kostantinos, Nikos
Finally a very big thank you to Mrs Evi for everything you did for us.
Mitsis Blue Domes Management
Mitsis Blue Domes Management
Buffet is a joke, empty 9 times out of 10.
Must book restaurants before you get there but booking references are sent out wrong
Ran out of simple things that were expected as part of the stay.
eg. Pool towels, Napkins, Crepe station closed for no batter, Gyros ran out daily before 3pm, fresh salads gone by lunch, ran out of Prosecco Vodka and Rum at the end of our holiday so most cocktails/drinks became unavailable.
I will say the staff work extremely hard under what can clearly be seen as terrible management. I asked to speak to the general manager several times who was never available. Staff told me he just doesn't like talking to the guests. Absolute madness
Although the hotel is beautiful the lack of options to dine out (even thought this is supposed to be all inclusive) means I would never recommend this place to anyone as I feel your stuck eating pasta with tomato sauce, fried fatty pork and burgers (if they haven't run out)
Pizza was pretty good to be fair but only available at Dinner buffet (for anyone stuck)
