Millets - Darlington Reviews 

Great customer service, friendly & polite

We visited Millets in Darlington as it was recommended by the DofE as a retailer that can supply items we needed for our son’s Silver Expedition. Not being outdoorsy parents we didn’t have a clue what the best equipment was for our son to use without spending a fortune. On our first visit to the store (we’ve been 3 times in the last week 🙄) we were assisted by a super friendly lady called Julie, whom we believe is the manager. She had exceptional knowledge and guided us through the items he would need for the expedition, as well as steering us away from pointless items we were considering. On our next visit we were assisted by Jennii & Jade who were again, very knowledgeable and extremely friendly. We needed some further help, so I rang the store and spoke to a gentleman called James who was very polite and extremely helpful. Following this call, I attended the store for a final time where I spoke to yet another gentleman as well as James, and once more I left being extremely impressed with the friendly service provided.
After this experience, whether you are useless like us about outdoors equipment, or know what you need, I wouldn’t hesitate visiting this Millets store in Darlington. Everyone we encountered were friendly and knowledgable, to an extent that their competitors would envious of! Exceptional!

I have been into Millets Darlington multiple times and always received a friendly, helpful service from the employees! Today, I walked in and was greeted at the door by an employee I didn't manage to catch the name of and helped by James who was knowledgeable about backpacks and really friendly! It was a pleasure to be served by James and the rest of the team. I'll definitely be back in the future!

I went in to try on a specific pair of hiking boots I'd seen online, as the Peter Storm boots is bought previously had been discontinued.
Unfortunately, the boots I tried on were a bit too tight. A very helpful member of staff recommended another pair. As she got one out of the box I said "this isn't the eurotrek lite, is it?" She said no. I said "Are you sure? Because I've read really bad reviews online and I do NOT want to buy the Eurotrek Lite"
She assured me that they were a different model and her manager swore by them, and they are Duke of Edinburgh approved, and they never get returned.

It's my own fault for believing the lying staff member. I didn't realise until I got home that the box said... "Eurotrek lite"

I live in a different city. I don't drive. And I made a special trip just to buy a pair of boots.
Now I'm stuck with an expensive pair of boots, or trying to get back to return them.

I am fuming.

Edit:
After another 1+hr drive plus additional money to pay for parking and petrol just to return the boots I expected at least an apology.

What did I get?
"Oh my bad!"

Literally that is what came out of the woman's mouth. Not 'I'm sorry / I apologise.'... But instead "My bad"

She's claims to have worked there for years. It seems she has never received any customer service training in all that time if she thinks "my bad" is the acceptable way to apologise to a customer.

James and Jennii were really helpful when we went in to make an emergency purchase to buy something to keep us dry on our camping trip. They showed us all available options and took time to explain them all. We were very happy with the Eurohike shelter that we bought and it saved our trip! Thank you to them.

Great customer service from Andy and helped up find the exact shoes we were looking for.

I went into the store to buy another pair of yrousers, same style but a different colour (huch wasn't in stock at the store). I couldn't remember what size I needed, so was able to try on a different colour to check. James then an order in store for the correct size and colour. They arrived by post the next day.

Andrew gave me good service while buying a pair of trainers in the sale today.

Great service, I phoned to check if they had tick removers in stock, was told yes, called in and picked up two before heading off to Scotland. Julie is always helpful, friendly and knowledgeable.

The service was excellent. James was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly.

I went to Millets in Darlington to exchange a t-shirt bought for me by my daughter for father's day. They were very helpful. I discussed our up and coming national 3 peaks challenge, they gave some fantastic advice and helped in purchasing useful items. We are so lucky to have such a well run and informative Millets store in Darlington, with fantastic staff.

Went to Millets for a pair of waterproof trousers for an organised hike - needed with the bad weather we are having. Was welcomed by James and Andy who were lovely. James helped me find what I needed and gave me advice on the correct length. Transaction was then put through by Andy. Both members of staff were friendly, knowledgable and welcoming.

Excellent staff and very helpful when getting prompt refund

Andy, Darlington store, gave excellent customer service. He greeted me on arrival, showed me where the women’s walking shoes were. He left me to browse knowing he was available if I needed anything. He promptly got the shoes I wanted to try on and pointed out that they were not waterproof and suggested an alternative if I wanted it.
Andy then processed the sale and advised me to walk around them, at home, for a few hours and I could return them if I wanted to (as long as they haven’t been worn outside).
I happily left the store 😀

I wanted some lightweight and cool boots for a specific task. Julie at the Darlington store gave me very helpful advice specific to my requirements.
I was pleased with the information and assistance to get the right footwear.

Exchanged shoes today got a great deal great customer service

The lady who served me was excellent. I was after some new walking shoes and she helped me find a great pair. She was knowledgeable, friendly and very accommodating - getting a pair of shoes from out the back that weren’t on display as she thought they’d suit my requirements, and they did. I didn’t feel pressured to buy either, which I really appreciate. Always friendly when I pop into this branch, great service all round from the Darlo team. Thank you!

The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. I needed a rucksack and found the one that was best for me with help from the staff.
