We highly recommend McIntosh Electrical
We recently engaged McIntosh Electrical to extend power from the power board to our garage at the rear of our property.
Their team did an excellent job completing it in one day. It was a big job which included running cable from the power board to the rear of the house then digging a trench to the garage to accommodate the cable and installing lighting and power points inside the garage.
The job was done quickly and efficiently and extra effort was made to conceal any new cabling inside the house. The grass sods were put back in place when the trench was filled in and a general cleanup afterwards was very much appreciated.
We highly recommend McIntosh Electrical who have previously done other smaller jobs for us.

Great service, nice technicians
I would have given 5 stars but on two occasions the devices they installed (fuse and transformer) were faulty - even when new. They did come back and fixed both under warranty. Very efficient to deal with, know their stuff!

Replaced dimmer lights, but not well
Replaced dimmer lights, but then they strobed. Came back and replaced dimmer switch to rectify and charged an additional $200+. Furthermore, the new dimmer switch was different to other switches they replaced a few days earlier, so we now have 3 types of dimmer switches together.

Thank you for your feedback — we’re genuinely sorry to hear that your experience with McIntosh didn’t meet your expectations. Our team work hard to ensure customer satisfaction on every job.
To recap the process around the installation of your lights and dimmers: Initially, we replaced two of your older Lucci dimmers with new LED-compatible push-button dimmers to suit the new LED downlights we installed. Unfortunately, combining modern LED technology with older analogue dimmers often leads to issues like strobing, which was the case here. We also replaced the damaged Clipsal switch plate those original dimmers were mounted in.
At the time, we didn’t replace the third old Lucci dimmer on the other switch plate, as it appeared to be working fine with the new downlights. However, once you noticed strobing and got in touch, we promptly returned to address the issue. Our electrician, Mitchell, replaced the problematic old rotary dimmer with a new rotary LED dimmer. As he explained, he didn’t have a matching LED push-button dimmer with him at the time, and installing one would have also required replacing the switch plate, at a further cost. He offered to source the correct part from our supplier and return the same day to install it. However, you kindly advised that the rotary dimmer was suitable and that no further action was needed.
If you’ve since changed your mind, we’d be happy to come back and replace the rotary dimmer and switch plate with a matching push-button dimmer. We would only charge for the materials — there would be no labour cost to you.
Lastly, the $165 + GST charge applied when the new dimmer was installed covers the cost of both the dimmer and the installation. As a general policy, we don’t provide new dimmers free of charge.

Helpful but problem not solved
Generally find mcintosh helpful but latest event not solved. Had a fuse that kept tripping by itself but mcintosh could not fix it. They did try but at over $400. Im in the same situation. They did offer to take it further but this would necessitate more intrusive work and more expense ( they are not cheap) which i wasnt prepared to do. But other jobs they have done here have been good tho pricey.

We would have appreciated advice from the electricians on the day that they were not going to arrive within the indicated time period. We fully appreciate other jobs may run over time, but a small courtesy call or message would assist in our time management, as we also have other commitments and particularly made ourselves available at home within the indicated service time. We USED to recommend your organisation to others as in the past as you did pay your clients this courtesy.
