It’s clearly a means of theft and going by other review comments for the dining out company are fraudsters.
Never ever seen such bad trust pilot reviews.

Beware 12 month expiry date and poor customer service
Be aware that it's a 12 month expiry period, and that date is from the date the gift card was bought, which may be different to the date it was received.
I received a card for Christmas 2022 and tried to use it 25.11.23.
It was declined and upon checking it had expired only 9 days earlier. My elderly parents had bought it in good time for Christmas, without realising it reduced the redemption period.
When I reached out and complained, M&B refused to extend, reissue or replace it

I brought £40 card to be delivered to my brothers email address for his birthday as he was going out for a large meal with friends.
He is still yet to receive this a week after paying for it.
Have emailed them 6 times with no response.
£40 lost for something we have not received at this time of year when things are already tight. And also my brother then had to pay £40 towards his own birthday meal.

If I could only give 0 stars I would. Our children bought us a card for a meal out for our ruby wedding anniversary a couple of months ago. Today it was declined as payment at a restaurant and so we had to pay cash we could ill afford. The poor young server tried running it several times for us but it came back declined. We followed this up once home and could get on line. we definitely have the money on the card. I am unhappy that our children have spent money on a useless plastic card and we are £60 out of our pension money down. If you want my advise just put gift money in the cards for presents. I will never buy another gift card again and I will be letting everyone know about the problems. I feel we have been robbed!

Someone wasted their money buying me a dining out gift card as when I went to use it it was invalid. Discovered that card was only valid for 12 months.
Absolute awful service
Absolute awful service. Paid for a voucher for a friends birthday. They did not send the voucher and when I emailed them, I was just ignored. After 3 weeks and more emails to them, I have a feeble response stating voucher has been resent.

Ordered a card as a Christmas present, which never arrived. My money was taken, of course. After a few emails they said that they couldn´t find a record of the payment, despite me sending them bank statements, and that they couldn´t assist me. Awful customer service.
Do not order from this company
I have ordered a gift card for my parents before Xmas - it is now 13th Jan and still no card has arrived. Money was taken straight away by this company but never sent me an email confirmation of the order (good job I snap shot the screen confirming the order so at least I have the order details) so something clearly going wrong with this company. I have filled in their enquiry form on 3 separate occasions as well as emailing them and not had a single reply.
Company still clearly active though as it still regularly posts on its social media pages so they are quite happy to take your money but not send out the gift card - avoid this con of a company

If I could give zero stars I would. Shocking customer service. I bought a dining out gift card for my parents as a Christmas present on the 17th Dec. The email voucher never arrived, despite chasing on numerous occasions prior to Christmas and after. 23 days later, after a very delayed response from customer service and many failed attempts to re-send the voucher to me, I finally received the email gift card, only for my parents to find it is blocked and cannot be used. Today I have contacted the company directors to request a refund. An absolute sham.
Avoid this company
I bought an e-card as a Christmas present for a friend to be emailed to her on 24/12/21. It is now 30/12/21 and this has still not been delivered. However, they managed to charge my credit card on 13/12/21 - funny that! I sent them an email & am still awaiting a reply, not very hopeful. They have basically stolen my money and my friend has not received her Xmas present - NOT impressed.
