Not the same since massdrop.com became drop.com

I have bought many products from the, formally known, massdrop.com. I have never had an issue with them and they have been great.

However, since they transitioned to drop.com everything on the site has become quite mundane. The products they offer are no longer interesting, and I no longer care to even go to their website to look at the variety of different options they have discount on. Many things are now "drop" branded which makes me think, or at least gives the impression, that the products are no longer just cheaper versions of the originals due to mass purchases, but rather discount versions of the originals made to be cheaper. I am sorry but adding the "drop" logo to Sennheiser HD650s does not make them sound better, these headphones are extremely well regarded headphones from a well regarded company; the branding of "drop" does not add any confidence to the product, as last time I check drop.com did not have a 75 years of experience in audio behind them, so why would I trust spending money with them? especially when after tax is added (which yes will happen to your order when you live in the eu/uk, that is a given and anyone who thinks otherwise clearly does not order internationally on the regular, but you may get lucky and avoid it), means I may as well buy the headphones from the UK.

This is just one example, but the direction of the company is no longer one in which consumers would want to invest. It is kind of like adding the walmart branding to a rolls royce and saying that makes it a better car. Massdrop.com was special as it gave great prices on expensive products which were just the same as those bought at RRP. This gave great re-sale value if you thought 6 months later that you didnt want/need these things as much and also ensured you got the exact product you wanted for ages, but couldn't quite afford, at a great price. It is not the same and I miss the old massdrop.com. Who knows though, maybe the companies demanded this change and it was outside of their control.

The new website is also poorly designed, I may be out of touch or something but when you go to a studio area of a website, I dont expect to see a selection of knives and camping gear, in addition to some "studio" gear.

Horrible experience with this company

Horrible experience with this company.
Ordered early Jan, now middle Feb - product should arrive tomorrow I am told by Royal Mail. A poxy Carbon Tactics hook belt for my son, UK post office charged me £7.95 import vat plus £8 handling charge and this is after i paid the idiotically named drop.com $47.00 for the belt and $10.30 for shipping. It is just unbelievable how horrible this experience has been from start to finish and I have yet to see the actual product. pfft why are companies unable to get a decent logistics manager in place who can arrange international deliveries properly without the customer having to sort everything out at massive cost. It is a joke.

This is my third purchase with DROP

This is my third purchase with DROP, the first two were sent
with reputable couriers... but this third purchase is a tracking
number that shows no movement for 7 days after the DROP
e-mail said my item had shipped. I e-mailed with my concern
just to be told my package (a watch) has to be in limbo or lost
for three weeks before I am worth there time.
I contacted the unknown shipping company (ASENDIA) and they
said drop had never sent them the package.
What disapoints me is the not seeming to care on DROPs part.
I will use the next three weeks to figure out if DROP is worth me and my
hard earned money as a loyal customer.

Do not buy from this website (UK customers)

check reviews for massdrop.com on Trustpilot as it accurately portrays this company's service. don't be fooled by their URL change to drop.com

Also if you are buying from UK do not buy from this website, they don't pay VAT/customs so you will have to fork out more out of your pocket to receive the item AFTER the order has been placed.
They don't make it very clear but their prices on site is not including any of the vat/customs charges.
On top of that they still charge you for shipping too.

I bought HD6xx, paid for shipping and was hit with £41.74 VAT/customs charge before delivery. Typical US-based company not to include VAT in prices.

No returns for Canadian customers. Can't cancel order after 2 hours. If the price drops just after you buy something, they won't honor it, even if it's just a couple of days before.

new website layout sucks

new website layout sucks. It is very confusing to navigate and it would appear as if the available selection of interesting products has turned into 10 different types of the same old stuff. What happened to the TV Screens, Computer parts, Monitors, and Gaming gear. The website sucks completely now. No idea what happened would never recommend it again Unless they fix things.

Awesome Experience!

I've been waiting for a long time for Massdrop to open shipping to Europe and once they did, I ordered a pair of Sennheiser HD58x.
After placing the order and paying I read some reviews online and started panicking at all the negative reviews.
Two days after placing the order they started selling the same headphones for 25$ less than what I bought them for. I contacted the support on a late Friday without many hopes (after all the reviews online).
Here comes the pleasant surprise: They answered in less than 30 minutes and immediately agreed to refund me the price difference.
I got the money on Sunday (yes, less than 2 days), got the headphones on Monday and they are AMAZING. I have another 15 pairs of different headphones(including Q701, M50x etc.) and I believe the HD58x have the most balanced and rich sound I've ever heard in a pair of cans!
So not only I recommend Drop/Massdrop and the HD58x, I even encourage you to buy from them!

Doggone watch didn't last a year!

I bought a Skagen Hybrid Smartwatch less than a year ago and it has failed already. A deal is only a deal if you get comparable value for less cost. This purchase looks good until you work out the value. Warranty - NONE (watch fails after 30 days, you're SOL)
Functionality - (sync function is inconsistent at best, does not sync well with other major apps)
Support - email only; inconsistent information
Value - NONE; repair for this watch cost more than the watch

Better known brand watches cost more for a reason and while some cost is branding; buying the product manufactured in China that doesn't work and doesn't carry a warranty is a bad economic decision. I'm out $55. When I bought a Fitbit that failed, a new one was in the mail to me even before I shipped the failed one back to them. Did Skagen ship me a new watch? No. Did Drop ship me a new watch? No. DO you buy watches like you buy toilet paper; that is the product is disposable. So if you are buying these QC and Design-challenged watches, be prepared to dispose of it within a year because that is what has happened to me.

Just Try Returning Something!

My sister-in-law bought items from Drop and raved about them so when I was looking for activity monitor (Fitbit like) I went to Drop and found a Movado Bold. After waiting a couple of weeks for it to arrive it finally showed up. I began to try to pair it with a number of my devices using the Wear OS app to no avail. Seeing that the watch was useless to me and cost me a couple hundred bucks I decided to return it. While I found what can be returned or not and the timeframe I never found out how. I found the company address and a way to email but no phone number and that was on their Contact Page. So I emailed them well inside the return window and didn't hear back - even though I was getting their daily product emails. After emailing them a few more times I have YET to hear from them.
So I decided to hell with them and contacted the fraud division of my bank and let them deal with Drop.
I got my money back.

They have strayed way too far from what…

They have strayed way too far from what made them great. I've read a few reviews saying the same thing and it's true. There use to be so much variety and items were changing all the time. It was exciting to see what they had coming around the corner. Now, since the change in direction....well, it's a waste land of unwanted items and strategically placed items made by Drop. How in the heck are you suppose to sell your branded merch if you cant even try it out? I'm not willing to take that gamble, nope. So many categories are not gone and the new website is boring and uninspired. Everything is over priced for what their selling. Honestly, Drop get it together or Drop yourselves out of the market. (see what i did there *high fives*)

I think they are dishonest

I received tracking information for my package leaving Drop's warehouse in China. According to this information, the shipment had an error and it was returned to the warehouse the next day. This means that according to their own information, they still had my product.

The agent was quick to offer a refund and no attempt was made at delivering my purchased product. I don't actually believe they attempted to fulfill my order. Not sure what their business model is --- sit on people's cash for a few weeks and then refund their money if they can't get the price they want from their supplier? The whole experience felt shady and dishonest.

My vote goes toward them being a scam. It's not excusable by saying they are "a different kind of shop" -- unless that means they are a dishonest business. I would not trust them to handle a return or guarantee case with a product I buy through them.

TLDR: They were quick to take my money (a few minutes after I clicked "order") and refunded me transaction weeks later without an honest attempt at delivering my product.

The Worst

Well I hate to pile on, but this company is the worst. I got a three week shipping estimate for a product that is widely available. The price was pretty much the same as at any other vendor. After the estimated time had passed, i contacted them inquiring about getting a refund. I got an automated response saying they were on track to meet their shipping date (which had passed) and therefore a cancellation was not possible. I'm not sure what the attraction is. Slow, unpredictable shipping, nonexistent customer service? Go elsewhere.

I am done with Drop.com (Massdrop)

I am done with Drop.com (Massdrop). They used to have a lot of products I was really interested in, and I would buy from them and had good experiences. Now that they have changed to Drop they are no longer carrying any of the items I want. They are focusing on tech, speciality office and stationery, some cookware, and sport equipment mostly. Too limited. Too bad.

Lackluster customer service.

So I ask for my order to be checked up on because it's been a week since shipping and nothing has shown on the tracking. Every CSR I spoke to kept insisting that I wait a few days. Come a few days, and I message again and they finally manage to check up on it like I requested originally. Turns out the package hadnt even been sent due to something with the China Warehouse. Had they checked up on it when I asked, I wouldn't be waiting with almost 2 weeks delays. I still have yet to recieve either of my orders. Guess I'll be growing a beard before that arrives. Really expected more from a somewhat reputable company.

Ordered a $3,000 Samsung Q80

Ordered a $3,000 Samsung Q80. Was sent an email from Drop specifying a "FedEx" tracking number that didn't work on any FedEx site. After several lengthy chat messages with Drop, was told the shipper was some mom and pop shop called "Diamond Freight", which Drop rep said was "white glove service". Called DF 2 days ago, and was told our TV would be here today. Called DF again today and was told there was no record of setting up delivery for today. Got hung up on 3 times in a row -even by the owner- at DS after demanding a confirmation number for the messed up shipping and new ship date. Never had a rep hang up on me if I wasn't being vulgar, but this "white glove" service did. And also refused to answer an email asking for the same confirmation of ship date. Reached out to Drop to escalate the situation and got no response. Unsure that this site is even legit but if it is, the customer service is TERRIBLE. Will never use again.

Big Mistake

Terrible system. Over three weeks between order and delivery in my case. Knocks off two stars.

Further, they specifically disallow FedEx from holding your shipment at a nearby location, which many people do to avoid taking a day off to wait for FedEx or risk having a package taken from doorstep. For company based in San Francisco, I don't understand how they don't understand the risk and inconvenience that creates. Knocks off two stars.

I bought "Darn Tough Lifestyle Socks (3-Pack)", it was 48$ or something with shipping. I paid and on "May 8, 2018" they have sent those socks (according to them, I have never seen any proof), all I know is that they never arrived.

Been 1 year now and I have never received my item. I don't know how someone can keep someone's money without sending item!

I didn't charge back as I believe in Karma and I hope those 50$ you scammed me over are worth the reputation =)
