Decent rates and so far good customer service

Goldman Sachs don't offer the highest rates around but I have just spoken to a customer service representative and he was very helpful and friendly. Willing to go the extra mile.
I never held an account with GS in the end but did contact them.

Still a work in progress

Their processes appear to be a little incomplete to me, for example, at the end of a one year fixed rate saver they ask you what you want to do on maturity, like roll it into a new fixed saver, but they don't ask you what you want to do with the interest, so they just roll it into the new fixed rate saver automatically and then the interest is locked up! Obviously they should at least ask what you want to do with the interest upon maturity, not just assume you want to reinvest it.

Excellent

Have used Marcus previously & found their app to be very simple & easy to use. However, tried opening a new fixed rate bond in my wife's name only & ran into allsorts of difficulties online due to previous registration of which we had forgotten the relevant security details.

Finally spoke to a lady by the name of Sandra who was incredibly helpful & understanding despite being passed between two individuals as part of the GDPR process.

Everything sorted on the phone whilst Sandra took the time to navigate us through the process & a new account set up in little time with no further issues.

Thank you Sandra, you have done the MARCUS brand proud!

Marcus Savings and ISA Accounts work well

I've had Marcus accounts for a while and the processing has always been very efficient. It's good to have the same interest rate on a cash ISA as the easy access account. I wanted to withdraw a significant sum from my easy access account. So I set it up and pressed send. It said 'The money has been sent' So I logged onto my current account and there it was - impressive, and on a Sunday too.

Difficulty transferring ISA funds out

I have had an ISA with them for a couple of years. All ok until you want to get your money out by transfering to a new provider. Many providers cannot deal with them as they are not on the same system as all of the other banks, ie: it cannot be done digitally because Marcus are behind the times with that. Finally I found a new provider who would deal with Marcus by writing to them to ask for the funds to be transferred. I opened the new account to receive the money, I wanted to transfer only part of the funds as I intended it to go to a new Fixed rate ISA, and I didn't want to fix all of the investment. I am now told by Marcus that they can only transfer the whole balance, not just some of it. So unfortunately, its all or nothing, no choices. Advoid

I have been with Marcus for several…

I have been with Marcus for several years. I can't speak for the experiences of others, but I have never had a single issue with them. I make transactions with them on a weekly basis. The App is simple and reliable and the online banking is the same. On the occasional time I have had to call them they have been responsive and dependable. I have never had an issue accessing or transferring funds either in or out of my linked accounts.

Excellent customer service

Never had any problems before today when the app appeared to be playing up. Contacted by phone at 1830 call answered in about a minute and dealt with by a very pleasant advisor Bilal who was extremely helpful.

Cash Isa closed without my permission

I opened an ordinary online savings account with them about 4/5 yrs ago then decided to open a Cash Isa (so in a ISA wrapper and not taxable) so transferred money into that from ordinary online savings account with Marcus Bank plus some new money from my ordinary personal current/savings account via my business account at a different bank unaware this wasn't allowed apparently. Later when thinking of transferring that ISA out to a better interest earning account I thought I read I couldn't do that just only to my Nominated Account which was my business account which I also use as my personal account. So I phoned them and made them aware I also use my Nominated Account for business. They Marcus Bank promptly closed my Cash Isa and dumped it in that Nominated Account which is taxable despite me offering to change my Nominated Account to a more personal account or transferring out to another provider. This very unfair and harsh

I’ve been with Marcus for some years…

I’ve been with Marcus for some years now and never had any problems.
There is always pleasant and helpful customer service. I’ve only ever had a savings account.
I would definitely recommend this online bank.

Clear and simple

Such an simple website with clear layout and excellent clarity of communication. Setting up an ISA took about 10 minutes with none of the long-winded form-filling and posting off documents I've experienced with some other providers. Marcus sends out emails to inform customers of best rates and updating accounts is an easy process. Don't let bad reviews here put you off!

No electronic cash ISA transfer

Unlike most banks, you cannot transfer your cash ISA out electronically - you have to fill out and post a paper form.
I omitted my national insurance number (doh!). They then refused to accept my confirmation NI number over the telephone (even though I had completed their security checks). They said that I would have to comjplete a whole new form and send it in again.
Terrible customer service (although polite).
Feels like the Hotel California - My money can check-out but it can never leave...

Excellent savings account

I opened this account almost 2 years ago and have to say the APP is so easy to use and Marcus are excellent and speedy at raising the interest rates on savings. Transfers and withdrawals really could not be any simpler and for someone who is not that tech savvy, I am very pleased with everything about this account.

Immediate access to easy access savings

I have an instant access savings account with Marcus. I find the website easy to use, the interest rates are fine and when withdrawing funds to my current account in another bank - the funds arrive...immediately! Thank you and well done, Marcus!

Good rates and easy to set up / use the…

Good rates and easy to set up / use the app. I have an ISA with them and a savings account and I like both. But they’re a bit too paranoid about security that you’d think my account is top secret given the numbers of steps and days it takes to change any linked account. They have to modernise to be in the 21st century’s instant money movement.

Marcus by Goldman Sachs (in UK) online…

Marcus by Goldman Sachs (in UK) online savings account is superior to any mainstream high street bank both in it's efficiency and in the frequent updates to interest rates. On the odd occasion things go slightly wrong the telephone help desk is highly proficient.
My only negative comments are that the website needs the facility to view inputted password and that it would be useful if the account could be linked to an additional UK bank account.
