Gone downhill

Have been a subscriber for many years and since the Amazon takeover more and more of the film and TV shows which were included in the subscription now require extra payments to watch them. Also, the user interface is now a complete mess - extremely difficult to find anything. It now feels like you're just paying to browse the Amazon store. Cancelling my subscription.

The Fun Has Gone....

Been a Screenselect then Lovefilm customer from the start. Since the switch to Amazon it's nothing but disappointing. I'm also forced into paying for Amazon Prime which simply won't work where I live due to poor Broadband. Titles you can find elsewhere are just not available with Lovefilm. The site is difficult to navigate and it's even confusing to find my rental list. I've had enough so I've cancelled my membership today and looking at Google it would seem a great many other folks are doing the same!

disgraceful

We thought we would try the free trial from love film it didn't suit so we cancelled within the allotted time only to be told that money had already been taken from my account. Not 7.99 but 79.00 yes 79.00 that's fraud. When ask why the answer was they don't know we are told we will receive a refund in a couple of days. I was shocked to find that this company would abuse the trust of the public in this way.

Terrible

Amazon (non-tax-paying thieves) have completely ruined Lovefilm, which wasn't perfect, but it is now UTTERLY USELESS.

very good but needs improvement

Q;Say your half way through a 16 disc box set and leave the service. Then you re-join, there's no way you can go back to your half way position (season 2 disc 4 as an example) you have to start at season 1 disc 1 again when it would be nice to select which disc/position in the set you want.. That needs sorting out. Also they could send 2 discs at a time and I find they send 1 at a time mostly. A simple fix but hasn't been implemented. Apart from that it's ok and why I don't give it 4 stars..

It is alright. Before it was great though.

I hate how very famous titles such as Game of Thrones are almost unplayable on my Blu-Ray player. Very annoying. But good selection of films and documentaries and value for money. I guess it isn't Amazon's priority project though. They needed the cutomer database from Lovefilm, not their business model.

Poor Lovefilm....shame on Amazon

I've been with LoveFilm since near the beginning and its a shame that Amazon have ruined it. I've watched and enjoyed hundreds of movies using the service and enjoyed perusing the catalogue. Now when you search for movies Amazon thrusts irrelevant items onto you or tries to get you to buy the items that aren't in the catalogue. I get the business model but it doesn't work with what LoveFilm used to be. I am glad people are leaving the Amazon version in their droves and do not recommend anyone to sign up.

Online streaming is the future but Amazon can't do that either. Netflix, Sky and Virgin all do this better. If you don't have a cable/satellite service look online for similar services - more and more are coming all the time.

I'd do anything for Lovefilm (But I won't do that)

Been a loyal Lovefilm member from the start. But since Amazon took over the service has been reduced. The online system is now buried deep inside the bowels of Amazon. Interaction from members has all but ceased. I can only conclude Amazon intends to run it into the ground hoping the members will leave. It's working. Shame on you Amazon. Makes me wonder should I even bother being an Amazon customer any more?

Oh dear - Amazon have scored an own goal here

I have been a LoveFil subsciber for several years, and in the main, was happy with the service, the value for money and the availabiliy and turnaround of discs.

Then Amazon took over and it has gone downhill ever since. They take at least two days longer to send out discs than LoveFilm do; by far the majority of them are scratched and/or dirty, and trying to get them to be honest in their e-mail responses (no point in trying to call them and live chat doesn't apply to Prime, it would seem) is impossible. They hide behind their terms and conditions while telling blatant lies.

Where they have really mucked up, however, is that I was a loyal customer to Amazon as well, but I am so disgusted with the LoveFilm situation that I will no longer buy anything from Amazon. What a short-sighted strategy to alienate a large number of customers!!

Collapse of UK company to the 'American thieves!'

Ever since amazon forcefully bought LOVEFiLM not so long ago it has collapsed badly.
If you had a very rare problem over a year ago, you could telephone them and it would be answered fairly quickly and resolved.
I have tried now, over 300 times to get through on the phone and it appears to be deliberately impossible to speak to a human being!!!
As amazon don't really have an efficient hire site in the whole of Europe, they are deliberately making it awkward so people will buy DVDs rather than rent/hire them.
I'm even trying to cancel my rental scheme, and it's impossible.
About time the police got involved??

Steady decline in quality of service over the last year

I have been a member of the LoveFilm postal service for quite a few years, when I first joined LoveFilm the disc turnaround was quick in about 2 working days, I also enjoyed the good selection of blu-rays and games, most of which were available as soon as they were released to buy with the odd film or game delayed by a few weeks which was acceptable.

A year ago I would have rated Lovefilm 5 stars, but over the last year the quality of service in every aspect has really dropped and has reached a point now where I feel I have to say something.

Firstly games were removed from the service, which was annoying but not the end of the world, the price dropped a few quid so fair enough. The speed of the service has also steadily declined taking longer to turn around discs, what used to be 2 days is now around 4 working days. The selection of films is also starting to become a joke, most of the new releases are either not available to rent or are delayed by months. I have also noticed that the likelihood of you being sent the films in your ‘high priority’ list has significantly dropped, in my last 6 disc rentals I have not received any of my high priority discs.

I fear LoveFilm are consciously reducing the quality of their service to push people towards the digital rentals, therefore I have little faith that the service will be improved back to how it was. I have given 2 stars because I feel LoveFilm still does offer a small amount of value, but nowhere near the 5 star service it used to be.

-1 star for removing games, -1 star for increasing disc turnaround times, -1 star for reducing film availability.

Totally agree with everyone here

As many, many others have said, Lovefilm used to offer a good service. There were occasional hiccups, but they were dealt with promptly and efficiently. Since Amazon took Lovefilm over, the service is rubbish.

Another one bites the dust!

Had been with Lovefilm for number of years and whilst the service was not without it's problems it did provide good value for money. It all went south with the takeover of Amazon and subsequently I have just cancelled my membership as not wasting anymore money.
I will simply echo the comments already made, rubbish Amazon Rental Service portal, poor turnaround of disks (lucky to get one movie a week), far too many recent titles not available, rubbish video streaming as now 9/10 movies are additional charge etc...
If I could rate lower than 1 star I would.
Well done Amazon!

Disgusted!

I am absolutely disgusted in Lovefilm! When I first joined they were pretty good and sent out many films we wanted in a short time time frame. However as soon as they switched I never got the films requested and took a considerable amount of time to send ones and the ones that we would have as high priority still wasn't sent out after weeks! What is worse the last film we rented from them has now broken our PS3! This was working perfectly fine and have been able to play games and dvd's on there without any problems. As soon as we put one of their discs in the Playstation began a strange loud noise in which we had to turn the whole thing off, take it to a Sony store for them to take the Playstation apart to get the disc out. When we got home and tried to play one of our discs (that has worked previously) the playstation did not recognise a disc was in it and then that is now stuck in there. Thanks to Lovefilm they have now ruined our player. Before putting your discs in please check them and not be so trusting as us!

Ruined

I, like a lot of others have always been happy with my service but since it changed to prime it is crap. Why is it possible to buy a newer movie or watch for a fee online, but the same movie is not available on the disc release date on the by post section of prime. Surely if amazon have it It should be available to rent by post. They just want us all to pay more now. I will be leaving soon if this does not alter. I also had series sets to watch on the player and they are now pay to view. Amazon, you should bow your head in shame.
