"Escrow" is a joke, scammed out of $133

i bought a razer gift card worth 133$ and tried selling it for crypto on localcoinswap.

the seller attempted to get me to send the card without escrow multiple times, after saying no, the seller funded escrow and as soon as i sent the card claimed it was "already redeemed" which is impossible because i just bought the card an hour ago.

A dispute was called and i provided all the evidence i had, recent receipts, card information and more, i had provided it all.

the seller on the other hand had provided no actual evidence and basically said "trust me bro, the card dosent work".

i woke up an hour later with the dispute finalized by the admin of the site in favor of the seller with no evidence required from him.

there was no questions asked by the moderator of the dispute process, no additional evidence or words said, they simply just returned the money to the seller and i'm now sitting down out 133$.

The escrow system is a joke, they do not care about the integrity of the people that conduct buisness on their site, if you get scammed by a "trusted vendor" they just take their word for it and your left with no resolution.

from what other reviews are saying, they also delete negative reviews from people that have had similar experiences to mine, the site is fraudulent through and through.

don't make the same mistake as me, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

Your account was banned as you weren't even using the platform appropriately, you were just trying to constantly divert people off platform to third party messaging services, likely with the intent to scam them.

I cannot stop writing this

I cannot stop writing this, please do not be lured to invest your hard earned money or your life time savings with localcoinswap, they are bunch of scammers. In the guise to teach me how to get my profit he lured me to share my bank card QR code with him and I was so naive to share it with him. I invested £250 in October 2024 and fund was converted to 299 Euro to trade on their platform.
I realised someone tried to purchase an item online on my bank account this month but the transaction was declined by the bank. when I checked the details of the transaction I realised my bank card has been cloned to Euro/ master card from £ master card
please inform others so they would not fall a victim.
They have this strategy of persuading you to get a loan from your bank to invest so you can make more profit, please do not fall prey. Thhe so called account manager assigned to me has blocked me I could not reach any longer and this is beacause I declined the idea of getting loan from my other bank to invest.
please! Please! do not deal with them.

The real LocalCoinSwap (localcoinswap.com is our only domain) does not support fiat deposits of any kind and is actually a non-custodial peer-to-peer marketplace for crypto).

Unfortunately, it sounds like you've been scammed by someone claiming to be us, a platform using a similar name, or via a phishing attack.

Please stop leaving these unwarranted reviews as it has nothing to do with us. If you reach out to official support via localcoinswap.com we'll be happy to assist you with further clarification.

I was investigating the legitimacy LCS…

I was investigating the legitimacy LCS and I can say from experience that this site appears legitimate. I say this because while there are negative reviews from some users it's my experience that scammers have negative reviews removed by flagging them as fake reviews and LCS doesn't do that so I will take my chances with them and hope for the best.

Questionable Business model: Very hard to try to close your account.

I went through the "tutorial" part of the site and got a taste for trading in crypto.
I was about to invest a 5-10.000 Euro when we had a day with Black Ice where I lived and I crashed my car. I was no longer comfortable investing as I did not know how much my repair bill would be but estimates were 12-25K.
I told my financial advisor, Ross, that I needed to hold of on investing for a few months as I did not want to bind up funds when I was facing a an uncertain expense.
He tried to pressure me into taking a loan so that I could still invest with him. When I refused he started raising his voice, told me that he would not be able to work with me any more and hung up.
After this experience I decided to close out my account with LocalCoinSwap. This was on the 4th of December 2024, it is now the 10th and I have been waiting for my funds to be released.
This morning a manager called me, insulted me, and finally told me that I could close my account.
2 hours later I got a call from a new financial adviser who pestered me into not closing my account, called me multiple times and when I said "I want to close my account" he would not do so.
He seems to have given up today after 5 phone calls, but I have not had my withdrawal request approved.

PS. LocalCoinSwap seems to have sold/leaked/lost my personal and account information (including my security question) to at least 2 companies that keep calling me with the attempt to scam me with phrases like "someone is trying to access your account" and "Your balance is over 10.000 Euros, where do you want the deposit" (I have less then 400 in my account)

Hi, the issues you are reporting have nothing to do with the real LocalCoinSwap. Our only domain is localcoinswap.com any other websites claiming to be us are phishing or similar scams.

Additionally, we don't provide any kind of phone support nor do we process any kind of fiat payments. We are a P2P marketplace that has nothing to do with the type of things you are describing. We've never even had a staff member called "Ross" nor do we have anyone that is or claims to be a "financial advisor" as again we are a P2P marketplace that doesn't involve such things.

Please verify this information yourself (and check the website you have been visiting) and consider removing your review as you aren't actually a user of our platform at all.

Tried to open account

Tried to open account, it kept throwing errors that I cannot use '.' dot in my email, so tried without dot and it went through. But its not my email if there is no dot between words. Somehow confirmation came to my email, but when I log in I have to type without dot, I don't get it.

Some email providers commonly treat addresses with and without dots (or certain other symbols) as identical - they all route to the same inbox. Unfortunately, this is a common tactic employed by scammers when trying to create new accounts, this is just in place to help prevent that. This is also why you can still receive our emails, you don't actually need the dot in your email, your email provider still treats it as your email address.

Fast and effective team

Fast and effective team working behind the scenes. They have a great support and answer very quickly. All of my problems/questions were answered quickly and effectively. This is one of the best P2P platforms out there. Supporting xmr would make it the best.

EXTREMELY DANGEROUS

Overall, I've BARELY managed, as a newbie, to avoid being scammed brutally and SOON. IT HELPED me a lot, that the LCS support AGGRESSIVELY jumped into the suspect trades and BRUSQUELY alerted me to being foolish, warning that I WAS BEING SCAMMED RIGHT NOW!!! But the second time -- I did not understand what's going on, clicking on the link to the QR code provided by the scammer. I did NOT understand that I did not have to click on any links or any QR codes OUTSIDE of the trade chat window!! BUT the scariest thing was that there is NO recovery phrase, and NO way to recover your password! -- Meaning that loosing all your funds is as easy as misplacing your pw, w/out any hope of EVER recovering access to your funds. EVER. A RECOVERY PHRASE IS A MUST for crypto accounts. ESPECIALLY, WHERE THE LCS DOES NOT ALLOW THE USER TO VIEW THE CURRENT PASSWORD BEING USED. In the LCS PW change window, it was VERY DANGEROUS B/C IT'S WAY TOO EASY TO MIS-RECORD THE WRONG PASSWORD FOR AUTOFILL/ MISUNDERSTAND IN THEIR CURRENT SET UP WHICH PW IS NEW AND WHICH IS OLD!!! WITHIN SECONDS, I BECAME CONFUSED DURING SEVERAL TIMES CHANGING MY PW ON THE LCS WEBSITE -- AND I NEARLY BECAME LOCKED OUT OF MY FUNDS FOREVER!!!! WITH NO RECOVERY PHRASE!!! THAT WAS TERRIFYING!!!! PLEASE LCS KEEP YOUR USERS SAFE/ MAKE YOUR PLATFORM SAFER BY REDUCING THE RISK OF LOOSING OUR PW AND MAKING IT EASIER TO RECORD/ COPY THE ACTUAL PASSWORD!!! THE AGGRESSIVE ALERTING FOR THE FOOLISH/ NEWBIE TRADERS WHEN THEY ARE ACTIVELY BEING SCAMMED WAS GREAT -- BUT one can't always count on that. Overall I am THANKFUL to the customer support at localcoinswap -- and I did ESCAPE with my money THANKS TO THEIR SUPPORT. BUT I am TERRIFIED NOW of using that site b/c of how EASY it was for me to get confused in their PW change window (without being able to see my actual pw), and how EASY it was to get scammed! The LCS support literally had to pull me out of being scammed by my ears -- b/c of how hard it was for a newbie to understand that I was
being scammed... And it was pure luck that I DID manage to record the new pw instead of the old one during several attempts to change PW.

We’re disappointed to see this review, especially given the extensive time and effort our senior staff member personally dedicated to protecting you from a potential scam. Despite multiple, clear warnings that were repeatedly ignored on your part, we were ultimately able to get through to you and prevent what could have been a significant loss.

While we work hard to maintain a safe platform, it’s not feasible to monitor every message in real-time. That’s why we provide numerous prominent warnings about things like phishing, and it’s crucial for users to take these seriously—not just on our platform but whenever they’re online. Unfortunately, even the best efforts can't help those who disregard these protections.

For additional context, we'd also like to share the content of your previous review posted just a few days ago:

Adam from customer support swooped right into the chat window and saved my butt from being robbed by a scammer! They watch the trades like hawks at localcoinswap -- any sign of scam -- and they swoop RIGHT INTO THE TRADE to stop the scammer from running off with your funds!! And the escrow system is already pretty secure! But still new-users may be easy prey.. Wow! Well done Adam at localcoinswap!

Without the in house wallet it would be better :)

I'm not a fan of having to use their in house wallet and having to shift BTC to their wallet, then to escrow, and when buying, having to receive the BTC to their wallet then either leave it there to re-sell to avoid fees, or pay twice the fees to move it to my wallet, but this is how the site works, and it's up to us to accept if we want to use the site.

The site iteself is great. A little quiet compared to other sites, but it works well and has all the features and functions you could want/need.

The fees seem reasonable. They could always be lower, but they certainly aren't the highest around.

I especially like that you CAN but don't HAVE to verify a phone number and email. Very helpful to vet new traders a little more. I think this should be taken further and if you want to verify even to a full KYC standard, they should offer it so they can show you are fully ID'd and verified so most likely safe to trade with. I would do this in a heartbeat. Rather verify to an uninterested third party site and be trusted to traders than have to do it to vested interests at exchanges who have a responsibility to pass on your info to government.

I am a BIG believer is SMALL government and NO CENTRAL BANKS or really banks in general. This site and the crypto community are the only way we can send that message and achieve the outcome.

Customer service is quick and responsive and has gotten favourable outcomes quickly every time I have reached out to them.

Keep up the good work guys!

There are better platforms out there.

Support is poor. Takes forever. Support is the backbone of this platform. Unstable systems that flag user accounts. Dealbreaker for me. Explore other serious, well established P2P platforms for your peace of mind and safety.
