LifeMiles Is Terrible

I am a travel agent with over 40 years of industry experience. My experience with LifeMiles was terrible to say the least. For starters, the reservation my daughters were ticketed on, could not be canceled via a mobile phone, only a computer. The repeated calls to the reservation center, would drop when the reservation's agents tried to transfer the calls to LifeMiles. I called about eight times. The representatives will not cancel or make any changes to a reservation unless the LifeMiles member calls in. This is ridiculous considering every question asked from the representative, including the pin, was answered correctly. I cannot believe how poorly managed this frequent flyer program is and I truly will keep this experience in mind when booking travel with miles in the future.

Lifemiles Expired with No Warning

I received an email at the end of the year stating my Lifemiles of over 15000 miles had expired. I was surprised as I wasn't notified before that they would soon expire. And I had purchased a flight for early Jan that I thought would extend the expiration date. For unknown reasons I had stopped receiving updates about my Lifemiles after last May. It took a ridiculous amount of time to find a phone # to contact the company and then they would not address situation adequately and said I could buy back my miles for about $157. I won't fly again with them if reasonable alternatives.

Horrible experience

Horrible experience. I transferred miles from my credit card to this program to book a flight. Everything worked smoothly until I had to pay the $30.60 fee (only advertised as $5.60 but they have a hidden $25 transaction fee per ticket). It then proceeded to reject my credit card because "I didn't have one on file" and after I tried to "use new card" it gave me the same error. Upon calling customer support they told me that there was nothing that could be done and they would open a ticket and I would hear back in 48 hours. At 48 hours I called and they would give me no update. Now 4 days later they tell me the ticket has been closed but the issue has not been resolved. I am also unable to transfer or use my points. Scam behavior.

Everything is so slow.

Everything is so slow.
Their line is useless they can’t solve anything on their own, everything needs a ticket, they should just have an option on the website for you to create your own ticket and not to have a line. Is so sad to hear the people on that line trying to sound positive when they can’t solve anything, heart breaking

Lifemiles is trash - 0 stars

I have been trying for 10 months to book a ticket. Nothing available. Now last few months I have not been able to get into my account. After many many calls I’ve just been able to and my miles have just expired now. I’ve now called back countless times not being helped and continue to be hung up on. I’ve spent so much money on my points (177,000 to 0) and haven’t been able to use them due to system not allowing me and no assistance. I’ve never been treated so poorly prior to being hung up on from a company I put a good amount of money into. Lifemiles is the biggest trash heap scam company there is with no way of getting ahold of someone who cares.

Avianca LifeMiles

Avianca LifeMiles – Unfair Expiration and Refusal to Reinstate Despite Extenuating Circumstances

Complaint:
My Avianca LifeMiles expired July 1, 2025, account #56133901401. I contacted Avianca two days later, explained my situation, and provided my mother’s death certificate. Despite this, Avianca denied reinstatement.

I am primary caregiver for my mother, who was terminally ill with pancreatic cancer and had suffered a stroke. The past months were exhausting as her condition affected her mental faculties and required full-time care. I have never faced anything like this. Managing her medical care and daily needs consumed all of my attention, and I simply missed the expiration date.

Avianca failed to send any warning or expiration notice, though it routinely sends marketing emails. After my miles expired, I immediately began receiving promotional emails urging me to buy back my expired miles for almost the same price as buying new miles, sometimes even advertised “on sale.” This proves Avianca deliberately avoids sending expiration reminders, then profits from members who unknowingly lose their miles. This practice is deceptive and predatory, especially since the company clearly has the ability to contact members for promotions.

I reached out immediately after expiration and provided full documentation, yet received no empathy or flexibility. The lack of transparency, honesty, and compassion is unacceptable, especially during a personal crisis. Avianca’s actions show disregard for loyalty and fairness, prioritizing revenue over basic decency. I have been a loyal customer and expected a reputable airline to demonstrate integrity and compassion, not indifference at such a painful time.

Requested Resolution:

Reinstate expired LifeMiles in full without reinstatement fee.

Review communication policy to ensure members receive expiration warnings.

Terrible Experience with Lifemiles

I rarely write reviews, but my experience with Lifemiles has been so frustrating that I felt compelled to warn others. The website is extremely slow and glitchy, and half the time it doesn’t load search results properly. When it does, the available award flights are often ridiculously overpriced in miles or mysteriously disappear during checkout.

Customer service is nearly impossible to reach, and when you do get someone, they’re either unhelpful or simply refer you back to the buggy website. I also had miles deducted without successfully booking a ticket and it took weeks of back and forth to get a partial resolution.

This program seems more interested in selling miles than actually letting members use them for worthwhile travel. Avoid if you value your time and sanity.

The worse website ever

The worse website ever. Shows flights and when you select there nothing available. Try to scam you to buy mile, what the use when you can't find any. I tried to find business class, nothing for the year. I will be closing my account as it is a big scam. Date of experience what can I say for nearly a year.

Lifemiles unjustly took 54,000 miles that I PAID…

Lifemiles took 54,000 miles that I PAID for out of my account, and which I renewed prior to their being withdrawn. And despite REPEATED promises for weeks that they were "escalating" the matter and someone would get back to me within 48 hours, no one ever did. It's always "another department" - the department of NEVER. In what other business does a company have the right to repossess the product you bought because you didn't use it quickly enough?

Lost over 100K in LifeMiles

Transferred miles from Capital One Account to Avianca LifeMiles. When I attempted to redeem the miles for an Avianca flight I am constantly told that my email and name is not correct. I have been trying to resolve the issue through LifeMiles Customer Service for the last two month and getting nowhere.

Fraudulent Service

Fraudulent Service - Avoid at All Costs!

If you're considering transferring points to LifeMiles.com, think twice. Their advertised "Miles + Money" offers for tickets are nothing more than a scam designed to lure you into transferring your points to their platform. Here's my experience:

The portal is riddled with errors and will not allow you to book a ticket. Instead, you'll be prompted to call their support team. When you do, they'll quote taxes that are three times the actual flight amount. If you point out that this isn't what was advertised, they’ll simply dismiss your concerns, saying, “That’s not our issue.”

Speaking to a supervisor is equally futile. They’ll listen to your complaint, feign understanding, and then ask, “Do you have another question?” Zero empathy, zero accountability. I’m honestly baffled how LifeMiles is part of the Star Alliance or partnered with Capital One and other major banks.

Save yourself the headache and avoid this portal entirely. I wish someone had warned me before I wasted my time and effort. Hopefully, this review saves you from going through the same ordeal.

Cheers, and good luck!

Lifemiles elite program is the worst

This is the worst posible mileage program. I’ve been a gold member for some years now and it’s the same as not having any status at all. They offer some benefits but it is impossible to use them. If you want to redeem a premium seat they tell you that you have to do it at the airport, but at the airport they will tell you that it can only be done through the website. Of course, that is completely impossible, because it doesn’t work. They have no customer service, just a bot. They don’t help you with anything at all, not to mention they have no lounges except in Colombia. It’s a disaster. I don’t bother to fly with avianca to retain my status anymore.

miles scam

0get credit. She said she did. It turns out she switched the credit to "Aviana life miles". I have never heard of them . they supposedly credits " my" life miles account.
I called united and they told me that They gave the credit to my aviana account . They gave me an account # that is supposedly mine. They said I need to call Aviana and request to transfer my miles to Mileage plus account. I called Aviana and after being on hold for ever and then connecting me to a life miles agent , she said the account # that the miles are on for the ticket do not have me as the account owner . My ticket # that they gave me on my boarding pass confirmed the miles on the account but the account is not under my name.
This means , they created an account and transferred MY miles to that account. they show on united that I am the owner of the account but on aviana's side ,I am not the owner.
So that is how they steal miles.
I am reporting this to united as well. This is awful . Stay clear. it is all scam .
