Review — Lexmark MB2200 Overall, it’s a very good little printer, especially considering it offers automatic duplex (double-sided) printing in such a compact size. Print quality and day-to-day use... See more

one of the worst customer service experiences
Lexmark has one of the worst customer services I have experienced; in addition there seems to be no come back on them. We took out an extended warranty on our laser printer. We have hundreds of pounds invested in toner cartridges etc, so I deemed it useful to be able to access support if something goes wrong. I will never do so again. The printer went wrong in October. Lexmark tied us up for at least 15 hours of remoting into my PC (during which time I can do no work), printing endless test runs, resettting printer (having my colleague and I do identical things, it turns out) changing printer drivers but REFUSING to send an engineer. When I eventually (after 2 months) threatened them with the financial ombudsman, they finally sent an engineer. He said he would bring a new motherboard but promptly forgot, meaning he had to come back the next day. Then in the end they finally decide to replace the damn thing, requiring another visit, usage of PCs etc. Utterly useless. 2.5 months of torture. This company also seems to have no real way to complain - in the past when I've had complaints I don't even get a response.
Here we go - LEXMARK
Here we go
August 2017, (5 months ago) I purchased a LEXMARK C925 LASER PRINTER from PC / Currys business.
Quality from day one and the first print was not very good, with a faint dark line down the left side of the printing, nothing serious for our first monthly run of posters, September (month Later) and our second run of posters, print quality a little worse, so talked with Currys, who didn't give a lot of help.. November, print quality terrible... talked to Currys, they said to talk to Leasing company SMART PLAN LEASING company, they said to talk to LEXMARK. I talked to Lexmark and really wanted an exchange of printer, but lexmark recognised the fault which was 2 imaging units.. and agreed to send a full set of imaging units out to me. These did the trick... absolutely lovely quality and no faint streaks... which confirmed that something was not right with the printer from delivery. DAY ONE.
December 2017, the light streaks appear again, very faint, but visible... however, working with the information I gained from LEXMARK on our last communications, I knew it was the imaging unit, so ended up taking the black imaging unit out and cleaning it... which worked... but had to do it after every 40 or so prints... which worked, until this morning, when I got an error code on the printer, which disable the printer and now the printer does NOTHING.
So, from 10 am till literally 5 minutes ago, I have been on the phone to different departments, with all three companies.. and these are the OPTIONS I have open to me.
*Have 1 black imaging unit sent to me, then when it doesn't work... which it won't, because I've tried a different one from the 1st replacement... Lexmark will then send an engineer out to fix the printer... HOWEVER... I was told by LEXMARK that the engineer will more than likely be refused authorisation to repair the printer... because I have 2 compatible (not lexmark) ink toners installed.. which is really against the law. (A legal requirement on all electrical goods, the printer manufacturer cannot be anti-competitive with the terms of this warranty. If your printer is still covered by the 12 month warranty that it came with the printer supplier has to prove that generic cartridges caused the fault with the printer. They cannot just say ‘You used compatible cartridges’ and refuse to help)
So, I called Curry's again, customer service guy was great.. and said he would try and replace the printer... BUT... my printer has gone up £400 since August last year, and the cheapest they had was also £400 dearer than mine and the cost I paid for it.. so, my option is to pay for a more expensive one???
SMART PLAN LEASING... say I can pay off my lease... (£750) or carry on paying the lease term for the remaining 30 months .. totaling (£750.. but I can keep the broken printer). ooohh!
***So, I have a broken LEXMARK c925 Printer... LEXMARK are going to break the law repair it because I have compatible ink toners installed.
***SMART PLAN LEASING... who say that the matter is with Curry's and I will still have to pay the lease because its a non-cancelling contract.
***CURRYS/PC WORLD, who may replace the printer, but I would have to pay double... unless they can find something of similar cost.?
At this moment, I have put the ball back in Curry's court, I have asked, for a replacement, second hand, refurbished.. or anything that can get me out of this stupid mess.

NO CUSTOMER SERVICE!
They charge you to proceed with any sort of actual 'customer service' or 'tech support.'
First of all, I was told there would be a 510 minute wait, but it was actually 35 minutes.
They have no idea what they're doing, they're merely reading from prompters and have zero experience in actual I.T. support.
I will never buy a Lexmark product again. They should be embarrassed to put an 800 support number on their website. Don't waste (or money) your time calling them.
I have had a Lexmark inkjet printer for …
I have had a Lexmark inkjet printer for a few years. It's been a reliable unit until I allowed in an update to the firmware which has caused the printer to not function if it has non Lexmark ink installed. In addition, cartridges that have been in the printer for a while, are rejected whether used or not. Having contacted Lexmark in the USA, I was fobbed off and referred to Lexmark UK. I wrote a letter of complaint to them and sent it recorded delivery. It has been completely ignored.
Lexmark cartridges are somewhat expensive and in the same way I do not expect to need to buy consumables for my car or washing machine etc, from their manufacturers, I do not expect it of my printer. I certainly do not expect this to happen by stealth via an update. Lexmarks stated policy is not to roll back updates.
My printer now lays idle and will be replaced with one from an alternative manufacturer.
Customer service? Yup, that's right.. Lexmark has not heard of it!
Unfortunatly I've had to deal with these utterly unprofessional and rude people more than once. On none of these occations has Lexmark been able or even wanted to help me!
The general tactic seems to be to refer to third party (for instance Apple) or to just not reply at all.
I bought a new printer 5 yrs ago. Ok, by now it's not brand spanking new, but it still works fine. Or it was working fine (exept some previous glitches that I had to figure out myself) until I updated to last version of OS X (10.10 Yosemite), where Lexmark simply decided that they will not supply updated drivers. Ohh, I remembered, they have not updated the drivers since OS X 10.6 (2009) which came the year after my printer was introduced. All OS X updates since then (10.7 Lion, 10.8 Mountain Lion, 10.9 Mavericks, 10.10 Yosemite) has created more and more reliability issues. NONE of these issues has been resolved by Lexmark.. NONE!!! The solutions I've found, I either had to come up with myself or find on the internet from people that has the same kind of issues.
Ok, this product is a outgoing model but Lexmark have stated that they are going to provide support for it atleast until the end of 2015(!). From the customer point of view I have to say that I expect the drivers to be functional atleast until then!
When turning to Lexmark, well, they have such incompetent support crew they could aswell just have a answering machine saying: "Yes... hi... uhmm... you've reached the Lex*sneeze*markt support.. mmm... uhmm.... the support manual tells me to refer you to some third party solutions, so if you go figure it out yourself that would be great!.. or.. uhmm.. maybe if you goooogle it... uhmm.. *beep* *click*
_______________
To sum things up;
When buying a Lexmark product you can expext that Lexmark, in one way or another will neglect full maintenance, so that you have to go by a new product well before the actual lifespan of the product is over.
Sadly Lexmark gives a perfect example of how NOT to act towards customers. I for sure will not ever again buy anything with a Lexmark logo on it, and I will strongly recommend anyone I talk to to choose another brand when discussin these kind of products.
Buying Lexmark products is just a waste of money, and most important... time!
Very unreliable
I purchased a Lexmark Genesis S800 All in One printer and eventually just put in back it it's box and parked it as junk in the loft. Within a couple of weeks of buying the printer head burnt out. Lexmark blamed me for not applying the latest updates but replaced it free of charge never the less. After that it was always losing communication with the PC's. The only way to use it was to connect directly via a USB port. Printing wirelessly was impossible. It also used a ridiculous amount of ink and replacement cartridges would not work unless they were Lexmark. Then they were very expensive. I just gave up and bought an HP Envy. It does everything the Lexmark promised to do but much more reliably at a fraction of the cost and has a superb ink replacement scheme at a extremely reasonable price. Stay away from Lexmark but if you still want an S800 you are welcome to mine, free to the collector !!!
GREAT!!!
I'm so glad I found Lexmark. After years of fighting with HP printers and spending endless money on cartridges I finally found the prestige pro 800 printer with REALLY cheap ink and a decent cost for the printer. Everything works, delivery is quick and I am a very happy customer.
