I certainly did not have a positive…

I certainly did not have a positive experience with Lexis nexis. After informing them my business had ceased trading I have been invoiced for a further 12 months despite being told they work with customers who have ceased trading. I gave them 60 days notice and offered payment of an additional 1 month at their new rate to satisfy the 90 days given I had little notice of my change of circumstances. This has been refused despite the service no longer being fit for purpose. I’d highly recommend avoiding them and trying Westlaw as an alternative. Been with them for 2 years but they want to squeeze a further 12 months from a sole trader rather than work with me on reasonable terms.

Closer to facilitating fraud than protecting against it

Nexis have taken steps to make unauthorised soft searches to gain information from my credit account. I didn't request any quotes, have absolutely no connection to the company nor the company they used (global data consortium) to gain access to my credit. I did not consent to them accessing it and there was no valid reason for it. I didn't request any quotes, or apply for anything new, not another year at a similar time that would explain a renewal search, nowt. I've been told they link to insurance - I've never had an insurance policy on myself or anyone else. I've have had multiple attempts at contact with the police about identity theft, believing there were possibly forged insurance documents taken out under my name around the time of a serious assault/attack. The search mysteriously only turned up on my credit file very recently and unsurprisingly seems to match perfectly with the timing/date of when the identity theft starting getting really bad. I'm not a criminal, not into money laundering. Have no PEP or sanctions against me. I'm broke, but have decent credit because I'm careful. Was fobbed off and sent by Nexis to the people that gave them my data for answers - tried to call them, no answer. Multiple emails, no reply. GDC are a properly dodgy company, the information on Companies house is a mess, conflicting info everywhere, charges on file, a suspicious website with virtually no traffic and no reply for customer service. Contacted Nexis again and now waiting a month + to get an answer. Seems more like they're facilitating fraud then protecting people from it. If you're in the UK they are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, so make a complaint the second it starts to them so that you can move onto the FCA and ombudsman. This is not acceptable behaviour and should not be tolerated. No amount of data makes you above the law.

A ‘lady’ works here called Alison…

A ‘lady’ works here that is trolling our restaurant. She visited our restaurant, caused hell and is now reviewing us every month, even though she has been in once. She is a bully and an online troll, I’m not surprised to read the other reviews of this company, when people like Alison work here..

These people are absolute sharks

These people are absolute sharks – please don’t enter into a subscription with them.

They hide a 90 day cancelation clause in their contract. Just before the 90 days cancellation period starts they email you with a massive price rise. When you question this they don’t respond for two months. By then you are inside the cancellation period. They won't then budge on price and simply say you can't cancel as you are out of time.

Appalling business practice, absolute sharks! You guys should be ashamed of yourselves.

My advice, shop elsewhere or make sure you cancel at the point just after you renew.

They hide clauses in the T&Cs to catch…

They hide clauses in the T&Cs to catch out their customers. I signed up to their tax info for a year but then got landed with a bill for the second year as there was a clause requiring 90 days (!!) notice to cancel. No one mentioned this at the time and when I asked to cancel ahead of the year 1 expiry I just got a passive aggressive account manager called Dave repeatedly telling me how he always tells people in advance and is therefore much better than the person who sold to me - what use is that! There are better options!

Why do they keep sending the same letter saying the they have lost my detail, even after telling them what they need to know.

Zero customer service

I'm currently on hold, having googled another number for them, as their urgent customer support number just cuts off. This is because the link for an app for an urgent ID check doesn't work. Dire.

I’d give them zero stars if possible

Appalling company. I’m convinced that they are not legitimate. They carried out 35 soft searches on me in a Month. I have not applied for anything that would warrant this.

Trying to get information about these searches from them is impossible, they move you from dept to dept and deny receipt of emails. I imagine it’s easier to obtain info from the KGB.

In answer to specific questions they send generic printouts and faq sheets. Not helpful at all. Reading other reviews on here increases my concerns as to what they are up to.

Wish I’d never heard of them and them me.

Appalling experience

I have personally received absolutely shocking service. I can't divulge too much as i may end up filing a legal claim against them, but my opinion is that i would avoid them at all costs. I personally regret ever signing up with them. Appalling.

LexisNexis appeared on credit report 2 days before fraudaulent phone contracts were set up.

Appeared on credit report 2 days before two fraudulent phone contracts were set up. Their answer machine says mailbox is full and it is impossible to speak to anyone. Strangely enough the mailbox answer machine message is exactly the same voice and message as a phishing call from a company claiming to be from Virgin Media who were asking for bank card expiry and start date. BEWARE! Please always decline calls from numbers you don't recognise and google them first before you call back. This is a dodgy company doing highly suspicious things with our data.

Unsolicited correspondence…

Really tired of unsolicited correspondence from this company containing spurious claims. I have never sought any contact with this company and really wouldn't trust them having read many poor reviews on many different sites. They do not have my consent to store/sell/make use of or collect any of my personal data

poor product and outdated services

Very expensive and can get the information online for free EG from accountancy facebook groups who are far more helpful. Customer experience was truly awful and the "customer retention specialist" was extremely rude and aggressive to my team.

Beware NFU insurance use this company…

Beware NFU insurance use this company for house insurance risk assessment. They use the Environment Agency Surface water flood maps to rate the risk incorrectly. We have written evidence of this from both the EA and the Local Authority Flood Dept. Will they listen, no they are too big for their boots. Other insurers use the EA information correctly.

This company is awful

This company is awful. I was sold the product very quickly without time to really reflect on what I was purchasing as they stated the price would increase significantly if I did not agree before a certain time. I know as a lawyer I should have known better however these things happen. The product is out of date and not user friendly. Covid has arrived in between all of this and although I have advised the company that I consider the contract to be null and void they are continually threatening legal action. They have not read the many emails I have sent to them explaining my reasons. They are a bunch of Muppets and need to go and join the Muppet Show.

Stay away from this company

Paypal had done a anti money laundering check witch went through this company. I was asked questions witch wasn’t nothing to do with me at all I was also told that it wouldn’t leave a foot print on my file. That was lie witch I was told by Paypal so I went to Equifax and to them I have nothing to with that company and I disputed it. If you don’t this company therefore they have no right to check your credit file without your concent Lexisnexis is are a joke and make this clear. I will be removing all my consent from this company to do any checks at all

LexisNexis is spying on your data

I was pretty shocked today when speaking to Paypal, who asked me a bunch of 'security questions' based on LexisNexis's profile of my online activity. The data that LexisNexis holds on us appears to be collected from a wide variety of online sources and I was asked questions about people that I knew, who I'd emailed, my mortgage account etc.

I'm absolutely disgusted with companies like LexisNexis. There seems to be no shortage of people out there who are willing to make money from practices that essentially subject their fellow human beings to unparralleled levels of spying and surveillance. We are, all of us, literally living in the Orwellian state now and companies like LexisNexis are just another symptom of that awful, awful state of affairs that we have permitted to develop and grow out of control.
