A disappointing experience!
I’ve been interested and watching the development of Lambay Whiskey. Ordered some as a gift for a friend. Turns out it’s shipped from France. It never arrived as it was seized by customs. You just couldn’t make it up.

Product came from france, was seized by customs in Ireland
I ordered a bottle with 2 glasses for my husband for fathers day. Address said Dublin. In the small print at the bottom of the invoice the address is in fact France.
Due to this, the order was seized by customs on arrival into the country. Following which import duty had to be paid. Although the product is fine, there should definitely be a clear pop up when ordering to state this product is coming from out Ireland and will most likely be seized by customs on arrival, after which you will receive an official letter and be quizzed as to whether or not you import whiskey regularly!!

Ended up having to pay excise duty to…
Ended up having to pay excise duty to revenue for a product I thought was Irish and was being delivered within Ireland. How wrong was I and it was so embarrassing too.
There is no clear information on Lambay Whiskeys website that you have to pay excise duty when you are getting their whiskey delivered within Ireland. Won't be buying off their website again.

DO NOT BUY - HIDDEN EXCISE DUTIES
I placed an order on the Lambay Whiskey website for a father's day gift on 7th June for delivery in Ireland. There is a brief mention on the website that orders are currently shipping from France due to 'logistical reasons' but I paid no heed as I am not a Customs & Excise expert.
I received a letter w/c 13th June from Revenue, stating that my goods had been seized on arrival in Ireland due to excise duties not being paid.
At no point during the checkout process is it made clear that the Irish Whiskey being sold by this Irish company would be subject to additional duties in Ireland. There is a classic get out of jail disclaimer at the very end of the Shipping page but again this does not state that orders to Ireland would be subject to additional duties.
I have had to deal directly with Revenue to secure the release of my goods and pay the additional excise duties direct to Revenue.
When I contacted Lambay about this, the Customer Support people merely pointed me to the bottom of the Shipping page which states that they can't be held responsible for 'confiscation by local customs in the receiving country'.
Be warned - those 'reasonable' prices found on the Lambay website do not include local duties and you could be forced into substantial extra cost and time to secure the release of your goods.
I would strongly disuade anyone based in Ireland from ordering from this website.

The whiskey is very good
The whiskey is very good. However I placed 2 separate orders in the past month. The first order was sent to the billing address instead of the delivery address. This was rectified by the company and they gave a bonus gift of glasses
The second order was really delayed, I had to follow up myself and see what the delay was. The order was placed on 15 th and not delivered 30 th March

Excellent service, arrived really quickly. The box was sturdy and it was and very securely wrapped so no worries about the items inside.
Love the design of the bottles, and the wrapping paper they came with.
