This review has two parts.
1. The purchase. The jacket I bought is wonderful…a brown cord mens jacket: just everything I hoped it would be; thick cord material, feels good, fits perfectly and I’m assured looks good! So for that, full marks. If I’d bought it straight from the shop it would be a clear 5 stars, no question.
Where it’s not so great is the company they use to deliver the item, and that’s Part 2.
2. Delivery. They use DPD. I think that’s a mistake and I was not happy to find that out due to previous experiences with DPD. They are very hit or miss and that’s a red flag for me. On personal experience the one sure, utterly reliable delivery company is and always has been is Royal Mail. On spending several hundreds of pounds on a jacket, I expected a high quality and secure signed for delivery provider like Royal Mails next day, before 1pm recorded service….not a company who has problems even finding where my house is in the street, where the delivery guy seemingly struggled to work out where my street number is in the road. And this is not the first time with DPD that this has happened. Granted DPD is by no means the worst; many of these ‘cheap’ delivery companies are awful and DOD isn’t awful. I just foolishly assumed Labour and Wait would use the best…Royal Mail.
I won’t buy anything else from them if they insist on going on using the cheap, cut price delivery companies.
The jacket is so good that I’ve given them 4 stars….if it hadn’t been as amazing, they’d have only got 3 stars.

Great shop! I love the variety of items, from stuff for the home to clothes, and soaps! The products have a flavour of the past with being very traditional, small family brands that you would not find on your high street (I live in Dundee)! I feel the items I have purchased have been very reasonably priced. I loved their "inform me when in stock" option as some of these items are small batch so you don't have to check daily for it. From purchase to delivered has always been super quick, and packaged with care in recyclable materials. So glad I found them!

Ordered an item on Thursday evening, it arrived Monday morning. Good service, very pleased, would use again.

used to visit L&W when my office was in Shoreditch, needed an urgent gift for Mother's day and William was super helpful and managed to get the item out beautifully packaged and it arrived the next morning for the standard delivery charge. Can't fault this business

Since L&W have taken decisive steps to bring down their delivery costs, they have emerged as one of the finest online actors in commercial retail. The products are original and often difficult to source. They are a little expensive admittedly but are sent quickly, securely, and often nicely wrapped. I couldn't recommend them highly enough.

I have purchased a fair amount of items from this shop and they have all been of high quality!

My long standing item that I have had over 5 years is a wonderful wooden and metal bucket toilet brush with natural bristles.

The shop is small but well stocked and well located. The staff are knowledgeable and the layout is not too crowded.

Overall they stock really solid and well made products from yesteryear so some items are expensive but you know where the money is going.

Highly recommend .
