Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 117 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently express significant disappointment with product quality, noting furniture often feels cheaply made with issues like particle board construction, cracking frames, and cushions that quickly sag or shed fabric. Many also report problems with mechanisms failing, screws falling out, and materials like vinyl peeling or being misrepresented as leather, leading to the perception of overpriced and overrated items. However, some customers noted positive interactions with staff, finding them compassionate, friendly, and knowledgeable, and a few were satisfied with their product's comfort and appearance. Conversely, a small portion of people felt dissatisfied with the service, citing difficulties with repairs, misleading information, and unexpected labor charges for warranty claims.

La-Z-Boy quality very questionable

Having purchased on supposed La-Z-Boy quality, BIG MISTAKE. Third suite as first two had visible faults (Quality Control??) Less than two years use and upholstery failed, no support. Chose best quality leather, leather cracked, colour faded and wore off. Bigget waste of £5000 plus cost. Replaced with a suite which has now had two years use no problems, half the La-Z-Boy price and way above La-Z-Boy quality.

I purchased a $5,000 leather loveseat from La-Z-Boy

I purchased a $5,000 leather loveseat and a $766 3-year extended warranty (a total of a 4-year warranty) from La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries in Lake Charles, Louisiana on 1/8/22. The piece was not delivered until 2023, partially due to a quality control delay in which La-Z-Boy chose to reupholster the item before delivery, citing a defect in the leather. Unfortunately, the leather was from two different dye lots. The result is a loveseat with 2 distinctly different shades of leather (sun bleached blah and mystery orange), which is completely unacceptable, especially one that cost in excess of $5,000. I notified the sales rep. after noticing the leather was changing color, but no resolution. Now the stitching is loose from the back of the armrests. La-Z-Boy is refusing to honor the warranty. Buyer Beware!

Worn spot on leather

I purchased a leather recliner in July 2024. It was custom made and arrived in august 2024. This recliner was over $4140, The end of the right arm has developed a worn spot with loss of dye and finish. This spot is where I put my hand to get up from the chair. I use this chair for watching tv at night.

This company has really gone downhill

This company has really gone downhill! Since selling to a conglomerate that doesn’t prioritize customer satisfaction, they’ve changed their policies for the worse.
Unlike before, customers can no longer purchase items directly from the showroom, where they could test for comfort before buying. Instead, everything must be ordered from a warehouse—with a hefty $100 delivery fee. And if the item isn’t like the one in the store? Too bad. They no longer offer restuffing services as they once did. On top of that, returning it costs another $100.

I was promised a high quality

I was promised a high quality, comfortable sofa and a lifetime warrany. I was lied to, I received none of them. The La-Z-Boy store on Sunrise in Roseville is the worst store I have ever dealt with. The sofa and loveseat that I received is broken and falling apart, it is made out of cardboard and particleboard. The fabric isn't the same as the furniture in the showroom, it feels like paper, stiff and crunchy. The cushions are hard as a rock. I contacted the store in Roseville and they refuse to help me. I will never recommend La-Z-Boy furniture to anyone, ever.

DUPPED BY LAZY BOY IN MOBILE, AL / PENSACOLA, FL

We have purchased Lazy Boy furniture for 28 years and still have several working pieces. However, in 2020 we purchased a sofa and 2 leather rocking recliners. We also purchased the "Gold" warranty package based on what the salesperson told us about the warranty. Well, the leather on one of the chairs is peeling away under the armrest and LB sent a leather guy to the house to look at it. He stated that it could not be repaired but if I had a warranty, LB should do something about it. I also stated that I wasn't worried about it since I purchased the BEST warranty package they offered. (extra 5 years) We were told that the warranty would cover even things like a cat or dog scratch to the furniture for 5 years so we had no worries. I bought into their CRAP and LIES! We have one cat that decided to claw the chair in just a few small spots so first LB said they wouldn't cover that. (again, not what we were told) they also say that the peeling of the leather is a manufacture problem and of course LB no longer carries this chair. So, here we are. WE HAVE BEEN RIPPED OFF BY LAZY BOY IN MOBILE, AL. I will share this information on social media and warn others that might buy into their lies to just STAY AWAY. We take exceptional care of our furniture and believe in you get what you pay for. It's the service after the sale that will get you. NEVER AGAIN! LAZY BOY. YOUR SERVICE IS TERRIBLE!

Poor quality and expensive furniture

Recliner delivered in May 2023. In April 2025 made a warranty claim due to excessive noise when recliner in rocking motion. Discovered the wooden base wasn't properly constructed and had to be replaced.
A month later, discovered the polyester covering on the arm was matting and showing excessive wear. Only two older people in the household so this should not be occurring. Claim rejected.
Expensive furniture and declining quality.

$9100 sectional unusable

I am 75 years old and have spent a LOT og money with La-Z-Boy over the years. Purchased at least 10 recliners and couple of loveseat recliners.
October, 2024 I took delivery of a sectional with 3 recliners. Had it made with chosen upholstery, In two of the seats, I had firm foam installed. I and a handicapped 75 y/o use the two seats with the firm foam. Neither of us can sit on these seats. They are like sitting on concrete/bricks. Both of us are continually going to the chiropractor, having a massage therapist come in to help with the pain created and taking pain medication that neither of us have ever had to do.
I contacted La-Z-Boy after we had the sectional for 5-6 months and let them know we cannot use this $9100 sectional and asked them to fix these two seats. Took them a week to respond but they REFUSED. They said I could replace to two seats and they would give a little discount but would still be expensive. WE WERE LOYAL TO LA-Z-BOY because they were ALWAYS VERY RESPONSIVE FAVORABLY TO THEIR CUSTOMERS. We once had a furniture repair/refinishing company and did a lot of work for La-Z-Boy so knew how they were with customers besides our own experienee over the years.
This company IS NOTHING LIKE IT WAS!! It is so sad. I recommend NO ONE do busness with them EVER!! I have a $199 piece of furniture not even a year old unusable

Do not buy la-z-boy they are a rip off

Do not buy la-z-boy they are a rip off. We bought a couch and loveseat from here which wasn't cheap. The couch and loveseat were on a 3 month delivery time. We didn't even have the couch for 2 weeks and we were calling to get it fixed. Couldn't get a hold of anyone we left voicemails with the warranty department aat on hold for two hrs waiting to talk to them and 3pm hit and our phone call was disconnected because their closing time is 3pm. We went to the store and was told they are just a galley they only sale the stuff. We have to call the warranty number Finally after 40 days we finally got someone from la-z-boy on the phone. They sent out a tech and he said oh yeah the mechanism is bent and two of the seats were upholstered wrong. A week later we got a phone call from lazboy declining to pay for the fix of the mechanism said it will be close to 1200 out of pocket to fix and called it normal wear and tear said we caused the damage. How is the metal mechanism being bent normal wear and tear and the upholstery being being sewn wrong our fault. We've been trying to get this fixed for months now and nothing. Well today we got told they aren't even willing to fix the upholstery because we didn't talk to them till 40 days after we received the items. We showed them our track record of the calls to them and everything and was told they still won't do anything. When we said we will have to file a complaint with BBB this is ridiculous she said that's fine they will just send it to me anyways and ill do the same thing as now. Save yourself the money and heartache and buy from a different manufacturer.

Bought a lazy boy chair 3 years ago…

Bought a lazy boy chair 3 years ago over $2000 but a weld broke in the mechanism so lazy boy said the part is warranted but not labor - we had to by extra protection to get labor covered which makes no sense at all because the weld broke which mens the workmanship was pathetic so lazy boy should fix it .. This company is going downhill and their big deal that their products are the best and guaranteed is crap. Very upset and would not recommend anyone to buy lazyboy unless you want to get ripped off.

La-z-Boy no longer the quality of the past

La-z-Boy no longer produces the furniture it did in the past. Its current manufactured products are cheap and of much poorer quality. We received our new sofa and chair in 2019. The cushions were non-even and some of the recline mechanism were stiff to use. The fabric and the overall appearance seemed of poorer quality compared to the store display. We were disappointed at what we received.
Over the last few years, the fabric has worn, one recline mechanism handle and cable was broken (6 to 8 week for service repair). Here again after 18 months the same handle and cable are broken again.
We did purchase the extended seven-year warrantee extension from La z Boy but it is actually from a third-party company. So once again we have been told it will be 6 to 8 weeks for the repair and the parts are not stock here.
La-z-Boy – Poor quality --- poor service --- no reasonable cost/availability of parts for a repair which would take us less than 10-minute to complete.

Update: After 7 weeks waiting for a common lever handle ass'y again, the third party warrantee/service company came to replace the part. It was over one week wait for the service tech to come and at the very end of thier 4 hour service window and spend only 5 minute total time in my home to replace the part.

As before --- La-z-Boy --- Poor quality --- poor service --- please do not waste your money on their crap, from one piss off customer.

Purchase 2 recliners in 2022 and now…

Purchase 2 recliners in 2022 and now 2025 have to grow them out when we sift in them you fall through the back the padding is nonexistent (which isn’t covered by warranty). The arm ret fabric is just about threads. This was our third purchase of lazy boy in our lifetime and don’t mind spending money to get something good but these are cheap imports. Friends purchased recliner chairs from a cheap furniture place and 9 years later they are still looking good and paid half the price to what we paid. Do not buy their products they will fail after a short time.

Salesroom was great, Delivery is not

I purchased a La-Z-Boy on December 13, 2024 from the La-Z-Boy store on Airport Highway in Toledo, OH. Since the chair was not in stock, I was told it would need to be manufactured and would arrive sometime the first of February 2025. I am not clear what the issue is, but every time I trace the shipment, I am told it will be manufactured at the factory in two weeks. I have made several calls and always get the same answer.
Today is April 7, 2025 and I was again told it will be ready to ship from the factory in about two weeks.
While I am not sure where the issue is, I am beginning to lose patience. These recliners are not inexpensive by any means and I would expect La-Z-Boy to live up to their promises, but they are not.
This is not a reflection on the store itself, in fact they were very helpful and pleasant to deal with. It is the La-Z-Boy company that has dropped the ball.
I suggest if you are looking to purchase a La-Z-Boy you only consider furniture they have in stock or consider a different brand.

We have been Lazy Boy customers for 30…

We have been Lazy Boy customers for 30 yrs and have never had a problem with any of there furniture until this last couch we bought. I have to say they really tried to fix the problem with this couch which was an electrical recliner sofa so we spent $3500 on it. They switched out the backs but the backs were still the same discomfort that the originals were. In the end the store we have been buying from for 30 yrs did give us in store credit to buy another sofa which just arrived yesterday and we are totally happy with this couch. It’s the couch that should have been with us in the beginning. They did stand by us and did make things right. So even though I know this is a not so happy customer site I did want to give my experience. They do make quality furniture, and this is coming from someone who’s grandfather made furniture and did re-upholstery as a side job who just did word of mouth advertising. Not saying that theirs is as good as his cause he was really really good but as far as the big box stores goes I really do think that they are the best that is out there.

Buyer Beware!

Want to strongly caution buyers of the LB Consultation Service. We hired this service and even though they came in with tape measures, laser measuring and computer software, we wound up with a table too big for our space. They refused to take any responsibility on the grounds the ability to walk around the table was not discussed. What a joke!

Devoid of customer service

I am the regretful owner of a Lazy Boy Redwood recliner. I bought it because it's the biggest recliner I could find, and it's rated for larger people. (I'm 6'3" and around 320lb) I purchased it from Slumberland in Stevens Point, WI in October. It's still in pristine condition, as it doesn't get heavy use being in the spare room downstairs. I dozed off in the chair one evening while watching tv downstairs, and woke up on my back with my feet in the air and the chair flipped backwards. I was quite startled. I stood up and flipped the chair back upright and everything looked normal. I didn't know what to think, so I slowly sat back down, and the left side of the chair started sagging, so I quickly stood back up. I rolled the chair forward, expecting to see broken wood, but instead what I saw looked perfectly normal. It wasn't until I started trying to rock the base back and forth that I realized what had happed. A screw broke on the curved piece of wood that the base rests on. I thought I was lucky, as I knew this would be a quick, easy fix. No cracked or broken wood, no bent or broken metal. Just a screw and some wood glue, and everything would be fine. That was until I was informed it would be 5 or 6 WEEKS before a tech would make it to my house to fix it. Now, I have a claim open on it, so if I fix it myself, I void the warranty. And I called Lazy Boy corporate offices and they were less than helpful. The lady that I spoke with was actually very condescending. I told her I had been a loyal Lazy Boy customer for 30 years, and this had been the 7th recliner I had bought. But if I had to wait this long to get my chair fixed, I promise there will never be an eighth. Her reply was "if your willing to waste 30 years of satisfaction over having to wait a little while to get your chair fixed, well that's up to you". Their so called warranty isn't worth the paper it's printed on. Why should I have to wait 5 or 6 weeks to get a screw replaced???
