Amazing Horror Night

I had an amazing time at the Horror Night - Final Destination movie. I was surprised with the live performance of the actors that were guiding us to the room, and during the break have put on an immersive show. I love the involvement of live performance and would go there again

Don't buy online

You buy one lousy ticket from them, and they SPAM you forever. It's impossible to get rid of their endless emails. It's kind of email herpes, you have it for life. And it's gross. Don't buy an online ticket from them, EVER.

Brussels IMAX cinema

We visited the Brussels IMAX cinema a couple of times. The quality of the projection was impeccable, and the locations were comfortable. The two times the room was opened late, so when we were allowed to enter, the movie short was already in the middle, with the extra difficulty of finding our places in the dark.

Review of Kinepolis Leuven

The change of layout in the entrance means that even if you have bought tickets on line you still have to queue up behind people buying nachos and popcorn and deciding what film they are going to see.
The whole point of buying tickets in advance is to arrive just in time and avoid the queues!
Is the whole point of this just so Kinepolis can cut down on staff and bugger the customer experience!

Not Corona safe and not thought out for…

Not Corona safe and not thought out for wheelchair users either.
Review of Kinepolis Leuven
Pending review
Unfortunately, as there are no contact details on the Kinepolis website, I am having to write this here. I would have preferred to have contacted them directly. There is only a phone number but many people prefer email communication and are not comfortable with phone calls.

My family have enjoyed going to Kinepolis Leuven for many years. Generally it has been a good experience apart from accessibility for wheelchair users.

Our biggest complaint up till the end of 2019 (pre-pandemic) was that in order to get up to the cinema, we had to queue, to ask for someone to come and allow me access to the lift; then wait at the lift for that someone to come down. Often we would then have to go back to the ticket queue again as no one showed up. Meanwhile, able bodied people can just zip up the stairs or use the lift independently.

Once in the cinema there was only one screen (out of 7) with wheelchair access.

I was informed at the end of 2019 that it was going to be made possible for wheelchair users to go straight up to the accessible screen in the lift and that more screens were going to be made accessible.

Then the pandemic came and understandably, these plans were delayed.

However, it's now nearing the end of 2021. We recently went to see Black Widow and were really disappointed that although we had been able to book a wheelchair seat, the following issues are still not acceptable:

1) The lift is still not readily accessible and you have to queue up at the ticket desk to request it. This is inconvenient, annoying and also means arriving even earlier than you would if you were able bodied.

2) I think there is still only one screen out of 7 that is accessible. (Unless I am mistaken.) This is a modern building with no stairs to the cinema screens themselves, so it just involves taking out a row or two of seats. No major building work involved!

3) There is lots of room for the wheelchair (even electric ones) to turn in the aisle and room to wheel past other people without running over their toes. This is great. However, the people in the row behind us were not happy. Electric wheelchairs (which many disabled people use) are higher than the average seat or wheelchair and so the people sitting behind me could not see. In the past, they would have moved to spare seats, but die to Corona restrictions, they weren't allowed to do that.

Not only were they unhappy, I was uncomfortable and very aware of their unhappiness, all the way through the film.

4) My final complaint is about Corona restrictions themselves. Although there were gaps left between the seats either side of individual parties, there were no empty rows between each row of occupied seats. The rows are less than 1 meter apart. Hence, anyone in the row immediately behind or in front is unacceptably close and certainly not within social distancing guidelines.

As the cinema halls are almost never anywhere near full capacity, I do not see any need whatsoever to allow adjacent rows to be used. This is not Corona safe in any way.

I hope to receive a reply from Kinepolis Leuven regarding this complaint and I will continue to post where I feel necessary until they do. I would also like to see a decent contact email clearly given on their website.
