The cowboys themselves
Unfortunately Kickstarter are the biggest cowboys of them all on their own platform. They’re clearly aiding in people being robbed of their hard earned cash by happily taking their commission or for all we know, the entire pot.
I am still receiving scam emails to update and pay my postage. Which I did do and successfully claimed back via my bank.
Blatant scams have zero consequence or effort from Kickstarter to protect users
Project made a clear promise of $30 shipping.
Immediately after project completion, they took my $200 and said shipping would be $129. Also the product would be completely different from what was advertised. You now have the choice between paying an additional $129 for a product you didn't want or losing the $200.
This was not some unforeseen development over time. It was immediately after the campaign ended and the survey went up. Even in the most blatant and planned scams, Kickstarter does nothing to protect users.
Superbacker giving up on Kickstarter
I have backed 59 projects at Kickstarter and would therefore be considered a Superbacker. I have received a few interesting board games, pc games, signed comics and other items that were worth while, but I've also lost money that will never be refunded or result in any product. For a 15% discount on a product that migh be an absolute failure or never be delivered, it's not worth it.
One thing I've learned, is never buy anything from a developer that has not delivered on a project before. Read the reviews from previous projects and make sure they haven't pinned positive reviews so that it appear like everything is great where people received their products. Beyond that, buying from artists with known brand names and products where the cost is a risk you would be willing to lose is fine.
Beware products with a lot of reviews, promoters and "featured on" from various companies. There is no added value in their input. Usually it's just copy paste of what they've been told and they have no idea what they are supporting. They are just advertising for money.
Late deliveries are a norm, but I've now had several projects where the developer simply took the money and disappeared. Some keep making updates on progress for years, but it feels like it's for show because they are trying to sell the products on other platforms or their own web page.
Despite all of this, what did Kickstarter do? They added a checkbox for you to confirm that you understand that you might not get anything when you order something. They do not care, as long as they've received theirs. They are a middle man with no responsibility.
Do not Back any project in Kickstarter.
I had contributed to a Project "Gvidea eGPU HUB", these creator did not work on the project, instead when the money was transfered they stopped responding. Now its been more than 6 month. Kickstarter as a platform has no comitment to the amount they have collected from the backer. they are providing this money to the Creator without any garantee's. That means anybody can create a scam project and take away the money. I was not aware of these terms. if creator did not fulfil, they will just block thier User account so that next time they will not be able to create a New Project. So do not back up any projects on the Kickstarter. eventually these product will be in market.
I've never backed a project until this…
I've never backed a project until this year. My husband has many times and has always loved it however, it seems that they do not care anymore about their rules and guidlines for sellers. I backed the Newtral Chair back in January and reported the seller numerous times. Kickstarter just doesn't care. Originally they blew me off and when I reported it again they said they'd check. They absolutely haven't. Whatever Kickstarter used to be, they are not that anymore. They are allowing scammers to take millions from people.
Most recent order was a scam
Most recent order was a scam. I paid good money for nothing. With no redress. I have gotten stuff from them in the past, but will never order from them again. It’s been an expensive lesson.
Please heed this warning…after good…
Please heed this warning…after good experiences with products received a few years ago, on the last 6 months I have not received two products…essentially scam artists taking money and not providing products. Kickstarter basically passes your money on to these scamsters after taking their cut. They don’t do any proper due diligence and are of no help whatsoever. Only buy from established companies who at times brings out products through Kickstarter…avoid rest…you will end up losing your money…

Kickstarter is a scammer's heaven and will do absolutely nothing to protect you groom malicious scams. Rather, they will actively protect the identity of scammers, leaving you little legal recourse.

Was scammed by the "Cyber Mission for Sega Mega Drive/ Genesis" Kickstarter and Kickstarter refuses to respond to the hundreds of people asking for action to be taken against the scammer or to refund our money. The scammer posing as "Pscd Games" hasn't logged into Kickstarter for almost a year and the real Pscd Games say they were locked out of the Kickstarter by the scammer who took our money.
Bad customer service
These ppl keep taking out money and shipping out products. I told them before that I did not want anymore products. So when the order came I told the mail box ppl to refuse it. Since mid May I have been waiting for my refund of $139.48. As of today nothing has been done or resolved. I had it escalated to Amy a Manager and she didn’t even call me back on my refund. These ppl are terrible to deal with refunds but love to charge on your card.
Back in the day Kickstarter was a great…
Back in the day Kickstarter was a great place to support some real innovation and get yourself some nce tech.
Recently it has become somewhere for scammers to promise what they want and take the money and run, with little due diligence or support being done by KIckstarter to protect the consumers.
To top that it can take weeks for Kickstarter support to come back to you, with replies so obtuse you can't help but think they hope that you will just give up and go away...
Beware Of Fraud And Scam At Kickstarter
Although some of the projects at Kickstarter did reach the delivery stage and had been delivered but there are many things at Kickstarter that can get wrong as Kickstarter does not do due deligence in screening out bonafide projects. So any crooks, scammers and fraudsters can just do up a project and be paid and just run away. Kickstarter does not have any guarantor money held by them from the project starters to be accountable and pay back honest backers when things go south by the project starters and just run away without fulfilling their commimtments to delivery according to Kickstarter Rules and Regulations. You are basically on your own when scammed. So beware of Kickstarter as that have happened many times as reported here. Mine is the Photonera : Portble Solar Power Source.
service is okay
service is okay, could be better but still okay. do more of crowdfunding with Kickstarter, your best bet outside crowdfunding, do it with Sîxth Pulsé. Great experience with them.
Terrible company
Terrible company. Take your money and do nothing when you don’t get the items backed.
Scammer - Kickstarter
Kickstarter campaign Xpod Coffee Pod Maker is a scam. Reported, but Kickstarter has not replied. They don't care once they have their cut. Do not back a campaign on Kickstarter.
Scammers and con men
Never use them .
If you want to do a campaign but don't really want much funding .
Just to kick start your career.
They will not let you. Because the just greedy 🙄. They just want big campaigns so they can make more money. They only push big campaigns .
Have seen same people doing campaigns for big products . How much money do they need of people.
It's just one big scam company.
Please do not use them
Absolutely do not use kickstarter!
Turns out the kickstarted I supported was a scam. Kickstarter does nothing to help you recover your money. Their conditions make them not liable. They are part of the scam collecting their portion of the funds. There is nothing you can do to follow up as no contacts for the company and kickstarter do nothing. Bank won’t refund either as you agree to kickstarter terms which they provide to the bank. Do not use kickstarter unless you have no intention of getting your money back or the product.
Kickstarter has “No Duty of Care” Whatsoever! Take their Commission from our money forward our Money to creators and we wait to see if they start the project or completely disappear!
I’ve had a few successful experiences with Kickstarter in the past, but unfortunately, my most recent project backing will be my last.
Too many creators disappear with backers’ money, and Kickstarter takes no responsibility. Despite hosting these campaigns, the platform washes its hands of any accountability when things go wrong.
My bank attempted to dispute the charge, but Kickstarter responded with a 12-page document defending their right to keep the funds. They pointed to the fine print, claiming I had agreed to these terms — essentially excusing themselves from any duty of care.
At this point, I simply don’t trust Kickstarter or its creators. Once you’ve paid, you’re on your own — even if it becomes clear that the project was never going to be fulfilled. It’s a system that allows bad actors to exploit people with little to no consequence.
Good luck to anyone still willing to take the risk. I won’t be making that mistake again.
A pirates nest of scammers and…
A pirates nest of scammers and fraudsters. And Kickstarter loves it. They get lots of free money without lifting a finger! What's even better you ask? The scammers don't have to do anything to be paid! And Kickstarter denies any and all responsibilities despite them being the enabler. They should be brought to parliament to explain why they are fleecing people with no accountability whatsoever
So let me get this straight
So let me get this straight. ALL of us who thought this was a good smart product put our confidence on kickstarter as a intermediary to secure our funding for our product. The scammers, yes scammers at this point because they took the money and ran, and left a "gmail" account to communicate with their clients. Now kickstarter denies accountability, the scammers got their money. Kickstarter got their cut, and the users are left holding the bag. I speak for everybody on this campaign, that if this is not resolved. I WILL NEVER USE KICKSTARTER AGAIN.
"Project Creators are required to fulfill all rewards of their successful fundraising campaigns or refund any backer they do not, or cannot, fulfill."
This is a formal request for a refund of my entire pledge and paid amount. I require an immediate response to my request in writing to the email address associated with my Kickstarter account which you have access to. Failure to do so will force me to place a fraud claim through my credit card company. I eagerly await your reply.
