DO NOT BUY AN ELECTRIC CAR FROM KIA…
DO NOT BUY AN ELECTRIC CAR FROM KIA IRELAND. We did and we regret it so much. We bought a brand new KIA SOUL EV earlier this year. We were delighted to go electric and the car has excellent features. After just a few months the car developed electronic problems that made it unsafe to drive: the indicators and brake lights stopped working. These things happen and although disappointing, we expected that KIA and the garage (Hinchys Motors Limerick) would take care of things. That could not have been further from the truth. It took a week before they would look at the car, no replacement plug-in vehicle was provided (we would have accepted anything with a plug, after all we spent a lot of money to buy an electric car) and it took nearly 3 weeks and involvement from our solicitor before the car was repaired. The car was returned in a terrible state: hand marks all over the dash, dashcam cable ripped out and paint like markings on the drivers seat. When I pushed for a replacement electric car (when our own was being repaired) I was informed that if I wanted that level of service I should have paid more when I purchased the car or purchased an additional car to have as a spare. What's more, the garage did have a used electric car sitting in the lot, a KIA electric customer was simply not deemed deserving of it. Our experience has shown that although KIA as a corporation is making some well engineered cars, the dealers and the local distributors despise the cars and the customers that buy them.
