Kaspersky Total Security issues

I was looking to migrate to a new Anti-Virus/Security Software. I contacted them via their website and it was recommended that I install their "Total Security" trial and then upgrade to the full version.

The trial didn't even last 3 days before I found how buggy the software was. I could not even open a normal browser window without Kaspersky on its own launching a "Protected Browser" and it was always to the exact same website.

I reported these issues and heard nothing back from them regarding this. Being ignored tells me many things as I am a Software Engineer by trade. Needless to say I decided that there was a huge lack of support and there were too many bugs/issues with it so I used the Windows "Programs and Features" to uninstall the program. I even restarted the computer.

I then installed the next on my list to try application. When it installed I received a message advising me that Kaspersky was still installed on the computer. Being told this I went to see if I could find anything on the internet regarding this... Found an article saying that there might be scheduled tasks that were not deleted, checked it out and it was not the case. Also, I did not see any files left on the computer.

I contacted them and things even became more crazy... I had to give them control of my computer and they attempted to reinstall their software (I had a new product and it prevented them from doing this, something I told them would happen). Ended up uninstalling the new solution so they could then re-install their solution to uninstall it again.

They then had me download an additional application and to have them run it while I was logged in to "Safe Mode".

They then had me log back in and they said since it was not in the Taskbar it was no longer installed.

As I am an IT Professional I was smart enough to have launched into the registry and found the first entry with "Kaspersky". They told me I would need to manually find and delete every occurrence.

I could not believe what they were telling me. I also could not believe that they do not even have tools that will cleanup a failed uninstall. As an IT Professional I cannot recommend this product and will stay away from it in the future.

I had used another for years and thought to try this K. Was okay but when things went wrong the service was very average and not available at all hours(which for example nort. Is) Also something got in and I had to restart windows 10on many occasions . So dumped it! Felt it was very taxing on my laptop and not effective. Can’t recommend.

Poor Kaspersky web interface!

I am very unhappy with the fractious and confusing naming system of Kaspersky products .... trying to navigate to a Kaspersky download link for Total Security for Android was bewildering... following the prepurchased packaging instructions for Total Security to navigate to mobile.kaspersky.com I eventually found a link to the only product that seemed to be available ...Kaspersky Mobile Antivirus: Applock and Web Security, downloaded it, plugged in the activation code revealed by rubbing off the panel on the credit card sized activation instructions, which was accepted and my product duly installed as "Internet Security" .... have I installed the product I purchased? Lord alone knows ....

The technology may be functional, the customer/user interface is lousy!

Could do much better. Hurrrumph!!!😝

Customer service poorest of the poor and they don’t give a damn

The customer service and transparency from this company is dire. They simply do not care and have no interest in putting right their mistakes. My Kaspersky product was stopped after six months for no reason and without warning leaving my families and I exposed to viruses and malware. When I realised and queried it they intimated that my copy was fake and demanded I send scans my receipt and packaging. By sheer fluke I still had them and scanned them over. They then told me that I should buy from a reputable company, I purchased from Curry’s,\ PC world, I don’t know how much more reputable you can get. They then said it was an admin mistake by curry’s. They then reinstated the covet and gave me a code for the month I had missed out.
I have demanded an apology and explanation which they have not given, and they keep fobbing me off when I try to get to the bottom of it, after several mails I got the name of the person I was in correspondence with who had hidden behind the sign off “Kaspersky” despite several requests as to who I was dealing with. I was told they have no complaints dept and wasn’t entitled to an explaination.
Had I not still had my receipt and packaging I would have been deprived of the cover.
This company are woefully insincere and corrupt. They hold customers to ransom and take no ownership, responsibility or blame for their utterly poor service and they don’t give damn.
DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY, THEY ARE TOTALLY DISHONEST COWBOYS

Kaspersky is the worst antivirus …

Kaspersky is the worst antivirus software that you will ever encounter. Its customer service is so bad. No response from the technical team. I had installed Kaspersky Internet Security 2017 and 2018. Both of which use significant system resources. I would strongly suggest other alternatives like Bitdefender, which is regarded as the best antivirus solution. You cannot even reinstall or format the OS , and still be able to install kaspersky. The activation code will be shown as invalid. I have seen lot of forums where people are able to reinstall. But on both my PCs, I wasn’t able to reinstall kaspersky despite having both the key file and the Activation code. Plus, their web user portal is so bad that you cannot possibly even manage your licenses online. Lose your installation, then you lose your license. Don’t expect support from the technical team whatsoever. NEVER BUY KASPERSKY ,always buy something like Bitdefender.

KasperSky Total Security

The product that I was trying to buy seems to be only applicable to US and Canada. We are in Australia…
KasperSky does a lot of marketing in Australia and you don’t let Australians buy there products, very poor business.
In order to contact KasperSky you need to create an account to clarify what is going on.

I AM DEVOTED TO KASPERSKY

Kaspersky has been serving me diligently for over a decade. But to be honest, I don't know just how much an antivirus can really fail someone. All the same, Kaspersky is it for me

a sense of satisfaction! after installing kaspersky on my android... best thing, its simply awesome and works like a QA guy... analyze each and every stuff that you install on your phone. Just download it once and you are all set! gives you warning for any spammy or malicious app download, verifies it as per its criteria.. so overall its amazing

You lost at least one customer!! - Do you still want me to fill in the form about recommending you?

I have had Kaspersky Internet Security for about 2 years without trouble - though my PC has been slow in periods, but since I am an old lady I don't know much about systems.
On June 15th I renewed my Internet Security and paid, but I was having some trouble with the 'behaviour' of my pc again I upgraded to Total Security a month later, and since it's the age of boxes, categories and nothing in between I paid for that too, but asked them in an email to have attention to the recently paid renewal of KIS. - I heard nothing. - Then I emailed them again, and after several mails they told me that yes, I had paid for both KIS and KTS, so both systems were working. - I wrote back that I didn't intend to have both - I thought an upgrade is an upgrade - but it's probably auto-generated answers. - After a while they wrote me that yes, they could see that I probably paid too muchm, but the time limit for complaints were out. - I called them - US no. and talked to 'Linda* and she promised to take care of it, but here, more than 2 weeks later, I haven't heard anything. - And I can tell you: Old ladies with not very much money are not healthy for anybody to joke with! ;)

Definitely my preferred anti virus.

Definitely my preferred anti virus.
The only thing that bothers me is the fact that insecure SSL certificates keep giving warnings when Kaspersky is running - otherwise flawless!

Kaspersky Internet Security is not ready for prime time.

I installed Kaspersky Internet Security recently and the product installed okay followed by a large update. Using the default install and setting proved disastrous when trying to use Firefox as my internet browser as SSL connections were all flagged as being unsafe by Kaspersky. Even to my own website. Google search, GMail, Youtube, Bing, Yahoo were all blocked with no option to make an exception in the browser.

My initial contact with support was answered only after two days. They told me to turn off SSL scanning and reset my browser. This did not work. Kaspersky support then told me to install the Kaspersky certificate in Firefox. The Kaspersky certificate that needed to be installed contains "(fake)" in the file name which seems to be a poor choice by Kaspersky when a person is dealing with a security suite.

In any case once the fake security certificate was installed I was able to access Google etc without any problems and I let Kaspersky support know that I was also able to enable SSL checking and still access all of the SSL sites I tried over a few hours of browsing. I also said that I would leave the issue open for a couple of days as I had only visited a limited range of sites. Support replied that this was a good idea.

Two days later I had problems opening Linkedin.com. There were no warnings about security but the site came up looking like a listing of machine code. I sent a screenshot of the site using the same support issue as before.

Kaspersky support replied that I should open a new support case as it seemed that the issue with Linkedin was not related. I did this and the first reply to the new case was to do exactly the same things that had already been done during the first case. So much for not being related!

I explained this in the new case and was then asked to save a log under Kaspersky while reproducing the issue. I did this sending a 2.8mB zipped file (for four minutes of activity) but it did not help Kaspersky to identify the problem.

I was asked to reset my Windows 10 installation and the Firefox browser. As it had taken me a day to get Firefox back to working how I like it and I had no wish to reset my Windows installation I declined to do this. I feel that I should not be enlisted as an unpaid beta tester of a paid for product and told Kaspersky support that I was unwilling to jump through any more hoops for them. The support person apologized for the issue and closed the case.

Kaspersky's Firefox problem is not new as searches on the issue showed similar problems back to 2014. I have had no issues with Norton, ESET or Bitdefender with Firefox. Kaspersky is not taking the necessary steps to have signed extensions as is now Mozilla policy and this may be the reason why the (fake) Kaspersky certificate is not installed by default.
