Ok for a stop over

My experience in Derby, September 2017:

I stayed here for one night, I was going out with friends and didn't want to worry about a taxi afterwards so I thought I'd book a stay in the city.

For the most part it was an ok stay, considering it was a 'superior room' I didn't think it was anything special. It seemed like what a basic hotel room should be so I didn't see why it should have that label. Positive: the room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Negative: the bathroom had a case of mould. Definitely not 'superior'.

I didn't eat breakfast or dinner here so I can't comment on the quality of the food.

I wouldn't want to book a 'superior' room again, it didn't seem worth the money. I would, however, book a different level of room if I wanted to go out in the city again. The location is very convenient.

Closing permanently or not?

We booked for a December family room, Covid rules changed and dates were moved. Jury’s inn Hinckley. Great hotel and we were pleased to have the dates moved by a friendly customer service member who called. The hotel remained closed, and we got an email to say the hotel will sadly be closed down and we should expect a refund. We left it a month, no refund- informed that 90 days is the expected wait.
I now look and find you can book new stays no problem, so what on earth?!? We have in writing from your company that the hotel will not re-open!
So sad as the team in Hinckley and the building and location are fab and a regular part of our year.
We want to be treated honestly, they clearly don’t have the money to refund all these customers and yet are taking more bookings that will end the same way.

Anyone got a refund?

Just wondering if anyone has actually received a refund within an acceptable time frame? I cancelled with EasyJet the same day and had money in account 2 days later. Still waiting for hotel and not optimistic after reading these reviews!

Booked one night for a concert that was eventually cancelled due to coronavirus. The Midland hotel, part of jury Inn, have refused to either refund or let me stay later in the year.
They are deliberately ignoring my emails.
Disgusting customer service.

Drugs problems and lack of security

I stayed in the Croydon hotel and Nottingham hotel for work and both have the same 2 major issues. Both hotels were supposed to only be taking bookings from essential workers and business people needing to stay there for work. I was told by my employer I would be asked for evidence of this when checking in. I wasn’t. I was asked for proof of I.D in Croydon but that was it. In Nottingham they just took my name and gave me a key no questions asked no I.D checked they took it at face value. People weren’t wearing masks in reception and it wasn’t enforced at all. There were no security guards in either hotel. The other major issue was drugs. Both hotels had a very strong smell of cannabis at times it smelt like it was coming through the vents in my room. Colleagues moved rooms a couple of times because it was making them feel ill. It was everywhere. The hotel did nothing about it at either location. In Nottingham it was worse. People were often crowded in the corridor high or drunk making a noise, shouting etc. No security around to deal with it. One night the fire alarm went off due to a faulty alarm in one of the rooms. The receptionist ran down the corridor screaming at us to get out of the hotel because there was a fire. I ran downstairs in bare feet and pyjamas standing outside in the rain and freezing cold and it was a false alarm. The receptionist then had an asthma attack and got carted off in an ambulance. The hotel then blamed the poor guy who’s alarm went off and kicked him out of his room. The next morning the alarm was tested and it transpired it was a faulty alarm and was nobody’s fault. It was handled very poorly. It was only after complaints were made they started asking people the purpose of their stay and proof they were there for work. I won’t ever stay in a Jury’s Inn again.

Unable to transfer booking

Booked Jury's Inn in Birmingham for the twenty twenty cricket finals. Due to Corona virus the finals were cancelled and rearranged for September 2021. Having played in full for 4 adults we approached Jury's Inn to ask if we could move the booking to the rearranged date to be told we could not as only the cricket had been cancelled and we could still visit. As we only booked to go the cricket and because of the circumstances of corona virus and the fact we did not want to cancel but just move the booking ...we feel Jury's Inn have behaved well out of order and are a disgrace. In difficult times they have taken advantage and I would never use them again and advise others to think twice before using them.

Waiting 103 days for refund (and counting)

Booked on Aug 3rd for July 2021 and payment was taken from my account in 2 days. Cancelled on Aug 8th and still waiting for refund on Nov 17th, over 100 days later.
Emails remain unanswered and phone calls lead to nothing despite apologies for the delay! Will not book a Jurys Hotel again. Disgraceful customer service

Never got to stay at this Hotel due to lockdown restrictions and cancelled my booking in time to acquire a full refund. After 2 weeks I called the hotel to chase this and was advised that this had not been actioned and would be on the day on my call. However, the refunds could take a further 7 - 90 workings days and that they have no control in this (rubbish). Person on the phone was totally unhelpful and inflexible to assist me as a client. Certainly won't be rushing to book another room with them

Free cancellation but money taken straight away

Had no issues as such - although during these strange times i opted for free cancellation & was happy to wait til 1-2 weeks prior to my trip to assess the situation. Unfortunately Jury's Inn took payment straight away which left me almost £250 short for the month. I decided to get this refunded & cancel the booking. Instead i'll opt to wait until nearer the time & book again.

They cancelled my booking but no refund

They cancelled my pre-paid booking due to COVID-19 but no refund.

Review of Jurys Inn London Croydon

I booked 2 rooms for 2 nights at Jury Inn Croydon for a stay in June 2020 at total cost of £392.18

This was paid in full at the time of booking.

They cancelled my booking, then after a delay of weeks offered me a voucher instead of a refund.

When I declined this, they stated that refunds would be delayed....

Now at the end of October, I have still not received a refund.

No response to emails.

Small claims court next.

4 months on and still no refund after hotel stay cancelled due to covid19. No response to my last email, having to jump through hoop after hoop with booking.com to get them to chase it. Absolutely unacceptable of a larger chain and a 4 star hotel. I will never book with them again.

Dishonest scamming company

Promised a refund for a booking cancelled within the terms of original booking, promised refund multiple times within 14 days of payment, made 4 phone calls, still no money. Absolute liars, false advertising, would never book with such a dishonest company.

Stayed last Sunday evening 20.9.20 and it was simply magic!

My wife and I stayed last Sunday evening 20.9.20 at Jurys (Newcastle Scotswood Road) and had the most wonderful time. Room rate an unbelievable 35 pounds for a Superior room! And from start to finish the staff were incredible. Should you be lucky enough to get Nishia on reception and a most cheerful and knowledgeable female bar tender whose name escapes me for the moment. You are guaranteed first class attention and service all the way. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they went out of their way to cater for our every need. And the positioning of the hotel could not be any better with literally a 5 minute walk to the centre of Newcastle and all it has to offer. Jurys can be assured that we will be returning very soon and that they can be rightfully proud of the service that they and their staff provide. So my advice is to try them you will not be disappointed.

Please be very careful when you booking. I had to cancel one booking and very hard to get the refund. I sent more than 10 emails. Can’t talk directly with the team. I booked family package, the hotel team even don’t know what’s included the package. That package includes dinner but only get the main meal, no dessert. Please be careful when you booking

My booking was cancelled in April

My booking was cancelled in April, have been told various timescales and reasons why not got refund. Finally got a promise that it was being processed, then get an email 2 weeks later asking me to email my card details. Have been really patient but the professionalism and way this has been handled is really bad, wouldn't book again

Upon arrival our booking wasn’t on the system, after a 5 minute wait it appeared. During this time the staff member at the desk was very unfriendly and just seemed fed up. We booked a double room with a city view but received a twin room facing away from the city. The room was very unpleasant, even the little details like cellotape on to hold the batteries in the remote. Overall not a enjoyable experience

Still not received my refund after 5 months

Emailed 9 times since April to get a refund for my May booking due to hotel not being able to keep my booking due to lockdown. Been promised it multiple times and been given multiple excuses about why it's taking so long. It's now been 5 months and I still don't have my refund. I recommend never booking at this hotel, absolutely shocking.
