By definition, anyone eligible for Attendance Allowance is a vulnerable person. Receiving an email encouraging vulnerable people to pay for assistance from Jonathan Owen to claim a benefit that is free to apply for is deeply concerning.
Anyone applying for Attendance Allowance can obtain free advice and support with their application from Citizens Advice or their local authority's Adult Social Care department. Given that free assistance is readily available, it is difficult to see how charging £600 for a successful application can be justified.
In my view, it cannot be justified. It is exploitative to profit from vulnerable people by charging substantial fees for access to a benefit they can claim free of charge with independent support. I am continually shocked by the number of opportunities there are to exploit older adults, and this is another example of a practice that raises serious ethical concerns.
My 90year old father was contacted just a week after leaving hospital and persuaded to use this company’s paid service to apply for Attendance Allowance. At no point was he told he could get the same help free from Age UK, Citizens Advice or by applying directly through the DWP. Fortunately, we cancelled before he signed anything or paid the £600 fee. The whole experience caused him unnecessary stress at a time when he should have been recovering. In my opinion, targeting vulnerable elderly people in this way is completely inappropriate
This company made it so easy to apply for Attendance allowance. 50 minute phone call just to answer a view questions . They are so professional and polite , 5 weeks later I had my AA .
I can't say how brilliant they are no fuss or hassle at all . Highly recommended. Mike .
Can I point out 1 important issue here... You only pay the £600 if your claim is accepted by DWP. If it is rejected then you pay nothing! NADA
I used these people because I was ill at the time of applying and they were great. I was hesitant on filling the form in myself and causing myself stress! They word the form appropriately based on what you say to them... no waffle.
This company gave me so much help and stress free experience.they take a professional way on form filling for a reasonable fee thanks again for being there for me
I started the attendance allowance form a number of times but was always daunted by the number of pages and the questions involved.
This company was most helpful and I received my award today. Yes, I paid £600 for the service but I would never have completed the form myself due to my procrastination. The company is very clear about the fee before employing the service.
As an 80 year old I was very happy with the outcome.
Just another con when you can do it yourself on line avoid these people at all costs its a scam
This company tries to con old/disabled people by saying they will apply for government benefits for them but ask them for £600 to do it. Absolutely shocking behaviour. You do not have to pay anything to apply for these benefits and this company is taking advantage. Total disgrace!!
My elderly father was approached by this company and quoted £600 to help him apply for Attendance Allowance. What they don’t make clear upfront is that you can apply for this benefit yourself, directly through the DWP, completely free of charge. Charging £600 — even as a “success fee” — to a disabled or elderly person for filling in a government form is, in my opinion, deeply exploitative. These are among the most vulnerable people in society and they deserve better than having a significant chunk of their benefit siphoned off by a third party. Save your money and apply directly to the DWP yourself, or contact Citizens Advice for free help.
I was given a great service by the member of staff who delt with my case 10 out of 10 from me I would recommend this company to everyone 😀
These disgusting leaches have just tried to tell my parents that they need to pay £600 to help get attendance allowance after my 86 year old father, who has heart failure, responded to an advert. Vultures who prey on the vulnerable like this company should be behind bars.
