Guidance and easy to order

The prompt response from Ben to my email enquiry was great. It was clear from the responses that he had really looked at my drawings and addressed my questions. He gave good advice and support on how to achieve the effect I outlined. I also felt although the project was small he was happy to assist by phone to get the details of the order correct.

Jack and Ben were extremely knowledgeable and helpful and went above and beyond to help me. The company has some significant issues with its processes especially for smaller clients which is why I haven’t given 5 stars.

I have consistently gone back to John Cullen every time I have needed lighting for my home as the quality of light is like no other. My recent experience has been particularly noteworthy as the team were wonderful. I required a replacement custom length LED strip. Not only did Jake and Toby match the previous quote and arrange a replacement, they did so exceptionally quickly, sending it to my home within 48 hours of the request. At a very stressful point in our renovation it meant the world that they went the extra mile to make this happen in time for the installation to be completed before our vacation. Imogen in the design team was also ever so helpful, again going above and beyond to offer thoughtful advice on possible options for optimal placing of our LED strip. To know that the lighting in our home has come from an organisation who treat their loyal customers like part of the John Cullen family makes the daily experience of that lighting all the more beautiful.

We remodelled our entire house and went for John Cullen lights. I worked with Jack Berrow for countless number of hours coming up with the ideal placement of our lights. Toby from the team also helped us acquire all our fittings in time. The lights have just been placed in our house and they look nothing short of absolutely spectacular. We couldn't have been happier with our decision and would highly recommend the team and John Cullen lights for that little extra luxurious feel for your place.

Great service! They have designed the lighting in two houses for us and both have been amazing. Their after sales service is first class. They have supplied all of the lights that we have used over 18 years. I have recommended them to other people who have been equally as happy as we are with design, implementation, quality and service to back it all up.

We have been discussing our lighting needs with John Cullen over the past month. John Cullen and in particular, Luke Hanson, couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. We have received samples of the Polespring 50 and Cazalla steplight, which are quite stunning.

John Cullen is a lovely business with beautiful products, employing very nice people. Although expensive, you get what you pay for.

I used them two years ago for project. They overspec, suggest you buy all of their products and then do not solve the problem you had them in to solve: I needed to make my art glow on the walls, they made me fit angled down lights on my drawing room and just created a big light I cannot use at night so no glowing art.

Ben was efficient and helpful and we were delighted to have his assistance

I’ve a couple of hundred of Cullen fittings - no internal ones have failed in 5 plus years.
Customer service was pretty patchy and technical somewhat elusive - I’ve been supplied different drivers on the same order for the same fitting and at this price point driver consistency is pretty important. It’s a bit annoying that drivers can be the same unit with dip switches in different positions and given different product codes - takes a while to work this out.
Light quality & control are of a very high standard, well matched drivers mean easy to create great effects
Engines are generally bomb proof. Design of the fitting is variable - the water spring series, for bathrooms are just poor and just dust traps some outdoor light are really poorly put together and water ingress an obvious problem which I believe is poor assembly rather than design (I resealed 30+) - they’re just nowhere near their ip rating from the get go. Others like the Kew/ Hampton / carrella - the garden specific range rather than the indoor/outdoor are very reliable - but overall the engineering standard is short of lightgraphix for example - though the design is well ahead.
There’s a lot to like really - I’ve probably 3 generations of the principal down lighter pole spring range and they’re very good and very reliable - the cri / light quality / dimming / the theatre style fade in out drivers and excellent
The service / the lack of useful warranty / the poor assembly of a fair few units means that you really need to know what your doing when your using their products and don’t consider them suitable for retail consumers. I would happily use again but that’s based on years of using the products and would buy and spec accordingly - otherwise use a lighting designer / a good one not an interiors specialist - a lighting one - then I expect you can find a very capable solution - as retail buyer I think there are better options.

No follow-up to our original shop visit and inquiry for studio track system and large garden (+60 lights) scheme and then the sales lead didn't turn up to calls that were arranged.

Awful service. Product availability and delivery an issue throughout the project. No follow through - contacts do not respond to emails, and are impossible to reach by phone most of the time. Snagging dragging on for months; visibly no interest beyond selling products.
