Staff very nice! But the place didn’t have vending machine or bar for long journey and the WiFi was impossible. How someone from another please would receive the SMS? Just connect without SMS.

Extremely disappointed

Extremely disappointed with this train service. There was no communication about a cancellation, which left me stranded without warning. The service is completely unreliable. To make matters worse, the staff were unfriendly and rude, showing no willingness to help. I would not recommend this service to anyone looking for a dependable travel option.

Don’t use Italo trains

We lost the train stop to Peschiera dela Garda and arrived at Verona
The last train back to Peschiera had passed and only an Italo train would come in some minutes
I tried to buy tickets from ticket machines but I had no time
I tried to buy via Italo app and they turned to be sold out
At the end the Italo train came and we stepped in
The train was almost empty
When the cashier lady came we explained the situation and asked for tickets
And imagine
Four retired persons paid 105 euro for an 20 minutes trip
The same trip in Trenitalia costs about 4,30 each and at the Italo ticket machine 15.90 euro
Don’t use Italo trains
They cheat people,…

Italo High-Speed Train travel through Italy

Having returned from a trip to Italy, we travelled through some major cities like Milan to Bologna, Florence and Rome. We used Italo from Bologna to Florence and it was a great experience. The high-speed train got us there very quickly and and allowed us much more time to enjoy the sights of Florence. With allocated seating, plenty of leg-room and comfortable seats, the whole journey was smooth and easy. I booked our tickets very easily online through trainline.com. The Italian train stations were easy to navigate and grasp. We arrived at the stations early and generally, most trains were on time. The coach zones were well identified on the platform and we found it easy to get onboard with storage for cases with space over-rack. The trains were clean and found the pricing to not be too expensive. A smooth experience and having used this train company on 2 previous occasions, we will use them again.

Terrible experience

Terrible experience. Was let on the wrong train and then they charged a penalty fair 2x and threatened a 2,000 euro fine. Ruined our honeymoon. No consideration at all. I was told "If you got on the wrong plane you would pay a fine."

No consideration for honest mistakes! Also on board not as good as the other Italian providers.

The Ryan air of Italian rail!

Terrible conditions of equipment

When there are no delays, I would give them 1 star, otherwise - 0
It’s really annoying how the staff all the time I travel pretends that the WIFI is not working just this particular moment 😂 and before it worked perfectly.
Don’t count on their WIFI - there is none.
Gradually degrading equipment (on some trains is completely worn out and dirty) and finishings is another annoying thing, taking into account constantly increasing rates.
Use a car not to be frustrated.

Shameful for 2025

First of all, having such poor Wi-Fi quality in 2025, especially in the heart of Europe, is completely unacceptable. They advertise free Wi-Fi, but here’s the reality: you won’t have access to Wi-Fi for most of your trip, even when you’re outside the galleries. So, if you’re a foreigner planning to rely on their Wi-Fi, just forget about it.

If you think Italo was created as a competitor to the state-owned railway company, your experience will feel even more surreal. Surprisingly, it’s worse than the state-run trains. Sure, it gets you from point A to point B, but all the other promises they make are pure nonsense. Honestly, I don’t know what the staff there are getting paid for, except for those involved in operating the train and maintaining its technical condition.

Avoid Italo

I had booked a train from Napoli to Rome at 9:35.

When I arrived at the station at 9:15 the board said there is a 20 mins delay. The support staff also confirmed there is a 20 mins delay due to some signal issues.

I had frequently checked the time and it confirmed the delay.

I tookt his time to grab a quick drink and when I checked the schedule again it said the delay is 10 mins now. It was 9:40. I rushed to the platform to see the train still there. It was 9:43 and the staff wouldn't open the door for me.

So a train which delayed and supposed to leave at 9:55 is now leaving early and wouldn't open the doors for me.

I reached out to the customer support who said they don't know that if I actually was on the platform.

Passengers with heavy luggage unable to get off train

Used this train twice and it was good, me and father had only backpacks so didn't have problem.
However we used Italo train a third time, this time with luggage. The train DIDN'T allow enough time to finish collecting our luggage and train took off before we could get off train. The female staff were helpful as they could be though male staff a bit stressed.

We had to pay another ticket ti get back to Bresia train station.

Keep all luggage near you and start moving before even train gets into station. (Don't use luggage lockers as well since it takes extra time to collect luggage from one end of carriage to another)

P.s. there was a women who also did t get to leave the train.

SCMMERS

I purchased a ticket for two people from Rome to Milan for 250 EUR. Unfortunately, the train broke down near Bologna, and we had to switch to another train. We were promised a refund for the inconvenience, but instead, I received a voucher for €48, valid only until 11/04. As I won’t be returning to Italy anytime soon, it’s impossible for me to use it. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this company to others. SCMMERS

Rude and racist staff

I tried purchasing a ticket online which I was debited but I never received the ticket and it was just 10min before my train departed went to the italo office at the Milano train station they said the couldn't help and they asked me to meet with the train staffs I got to the first one she said she couldn't help the refered me to the train manager now that guy was a d!ck head. He was so rude and racist even with me crying the train manager kept on raising his voice and about 1 min before the train departed I asked if I could just get a new ticket instead cause I had a very important appointment. He didn't only refuse while raising his voice at me but he pushed me too. I ended up not taking the train although my money was returned after a few hours. But that manager needs to be stopped. Why refuse to sell me a ticket and then the abuse. And funny thing is you can't even file a complaint on the website. Italo has to work on their staffs

Paid extra for club class - disappointed.

Paid extra for a club seat which as sold as champagne service, dedicated staff to wait on you. train was from Brescia to Bologna direct - but the Brescia to Verona portion of that trip got cancelled last minute. There was nobody around to help at any point.

Once we got to Verona, on our own accord, we managed to figure out how to get to the train, but only because I found a website that somehow had all the train listings - there was no information on any of the platforms, and nobody around to help.

Once we were on the train at Verona it was delayed by 80 minutes. We sat in the club car and waited - feels like they could've come out and brought us some food and drink, but nothing. In the end when the train left it seemed like there were actually 2 women appointed to attend to the entire train (seemed stressed, not surprised!). So we got a can of beer and some olives, which was better than nothing, but distinctly not what was promised.

I have yet to figure out how painful it will be to claim compensation for the massive delay, and extra train travel we had to organise to Verona.

Train manager Sara DG harasses and abuses tourists

On the 8th of September I got harassed by the train manager "Sara D G", from Napoli to Roma Termini.

I brought a 60 euros, last-minute first class ticket for me and my support dog at the counter in Napoli Central Terminal.

This individual approached me out of nowhere and first started to yell at me "put the muzzle on your dog NOW!" while my dog was lying down resting. Her attitude made me look at her and ask her what the unwarranted tone was about.

Then she and her colleague asked me for my ticket, which I presented. They took my ticket and never returned it. They disappeared it and then said that I could not sit there with my dog and that I had to move away. To this I said that this was the ticket I was sold at the counter by the seller, who very well knew that I had my assistance dog.

This rude, mediocre ignorant "woman" would constantly and abrasively talk over me/ interrupt me every time I would try to say something. Zero manners. Then she manhandled me and forced me to move to some sort of small folding hard surface to sit on which is where usually wheel chairs go attached.

All this degrading treatment in front of everyone, even though I was with an assistance dog. Basically she harassed a person with a disability.

Then I asked her to return my ticket and she started gaslighting me saying that she didn't have the ticket, that maybe *I* lost it, even when the witnesses around saw that she took it and never returned it to me. To her disappointment I had taken a picture of my ticket as I always do in case of LOSS. She tried to remove any evidence of my payment and my right to a quality seat so she could abuse me and I could not report her.

For the entire duration of the journey she would harass me and challenge me. I asked her repeated times to find the ticket and she would roll her eyes, walk away, wave her hard at me in a dismissive manner and disappear. Absolutely disgusting.

The level of humiliation and stress she cause will not go unpunished.

I recorded the conversation and also have a record of her face so she can be identified, as I told her afterwards and I'll be suing. I reported this to Italo via the online complaint form and they just ignored, probably because "I'm just a tourist". Let me tell you something: you make money BECAUSE of us tourists.
