Interhome/Interchalet charges a gas price of €5 per m³ which is disproportionate and not fair considering the current gas rate of a maximum of €1.50 in Italy.
Of course, if you arrive at your cottage in the evening, there's no way back and no other option than to accept this.
We had a great week, but afterward, we were confronted with a hefty bill! 😠
Nothing but good things to say about the host of the cottage, we're thinking they're not involved in this scam.
This is entirely due to the policy of HHD AG (Interhome/Interchalet)
Since Interhome/Interchalet is turning this into a profit-making model, we will be looking for a different provider for our next holiday!

Gas prices did indeed rise dramatically when Putin invaded Ukraine, but prices have since fallen back to an acceptable level now.

We booked through airbnb for a villa in Italy and it was managed by Interhome. The villa itself was expensive and we booked during a period where there was no reviews and it was new to market so we got a discount. Later on, we had to amend our booking and shorten our stay. We sent a request on airbnb to amend the dates and Interhome responded back with a new pricing request which was more expensive than when we initially booked it for LESS days. We tried to resolve this but was met with no solution and Airbnb can not help in these instances. We also booked for 4 guests but was having an additional 2 guests for a few days which was a last minute decision. We again sent a request on Airbnb to amend the number of guests, which we knew was free of charge because if you made a new booking there was no price change until after 6 guests and on the Interhome website under their own terms and conditions, there is no additional fee up to 6 guests. They again replied back saying we needed to pay even more for these extra guests when we knew that wasn’t true. The owner of the actual villa was lovely and our communication with her was great but the management of the villa was awful. It seems their only priority is constantly trying to find opportunities to either charge more money whenever they can or refuse refunds they’re liable to. It’s best recommended to avoid properties managed by Interhome.

Interhome is the hidden middleman behind my disastrous pre-stay experience with Plum Guide. They list their properties directly and also sell them via Plum Guide, meaning they take commission twice – while the actual property owner confirmed she receives less than half of what I paid.
For nearly €4,000, I expected premium service and clear communication. Instead, I was bounced between Interhome, Plum Guide, and a local key holder who spoke no English. My simple pre-arrival questions about the kitchen were met with vague, slow responses and no real answers. The owner herself admitted the property is simple, minimally stocked, and without basic cooking supplies – a far cry from the way it was marketed.
Interhome is part of a chain of middlemen adding cost without adding value. The price-to-quality ratio is abysmal, and I strongly advise avoiding them altogether. Book directly with owners or through transparent platforms instead.

I honestly wonder how anyone could stay in a place where even the dog can’t eat and hygiene is virtually nonexistent.
We followed your instructions to the letter and contacted you immediately upon arrival, but received no assistance whatsoever.
Moreover, the property description on your website does not reflect reality at all. At the very least, you should have disclosed the heavy ant presence and the extremely poor level of cleanliness.
I am therefore left with no choice but to confirm the review I posted: terrible house and no assistance provided.

trip to Italy became a stressful disaster. When we arrived at our location there was dead cat and multiple cats in and around the property. my children are asthmatic and were having a bad allergic reaction. when we reached out to Interhome they told us that they did not have any other availability any where else. we then asked for a refund and they told us that that wouldn't be a problem. when we got back home we where told NO REFUND!! not only that we had issues finding another hotel and when we did at short notice we spent triple the money. family of 4 with 2 small children stuck in Italy with no place to go!!!! thanks Interhome. their Main office denied us multiple requests for refund and basically told us we cannot sue them legally so NO REFUND!! Garbage!!! not even a partial refund for our inconvenience even though when we were in Italy they told us we should NOT have a problem with a refund!! should be ashamed!
Updated: 7/7/2025 lied to again with response. there 100% was a dead cat in the parking space when we pulled in. and we were told on the Phone by your Rep that there should not be a problem with a refund. go back and listen to your "Recorded conversations".

We initially booked an apartment in Sainte-Maxime back in January for our summer holiday. We had a few queries about air conditioning, and it took quite a long time to get any response. Eventually, we were told that the property did not have AC, so we decided to upgrade to another Interhome property that did—even though it was more expensive. At the time, we were happy with the change.
However, just two days ago—four months after we made the booking—we received an email out of the blue informing us that our reservation had been cancelled, with no explanation whatsoever. Now we’re left with flights and a rental car booked, but no accommodation.
This has never happened to us before, and we’ve travelled extensively over the years. Truly awful service—slow, unreliable communication and zero accountability. The very least we expected was a proper explanation and a suggested alternative property.
Do not book with them. Extremely disappointing and unprofessional experience.

Although it was stated that a partial refund would be made in case of cancellation before a certain date, neither interhome nor Airbnb responded positively to our refund request. A Nightmare Experience (Posting on behalf of my parents and our holiday expereince)
If you're considering booking a holiday with the InterRome agency, I strongly urge you to reconsider. My experience with them was a complete disaster, turning what should have been a relaxing escape into a series of frustrating and infuriating events due to their blatant lack of professionalism and competence.
1. Jardin and Pool Service:
The most distressing part of our stay occurred on the morning of our second day. Before 9 a.m., we were rudely awakened by loud noises as three men began hedge trimming and general jardin maintenance on the property. Branches and debris fell into the pool and all around the pool area, disrupting our morning entirely. Despite our requests for them to stop and a follow-up call to the agency, which assured us they wouldn't return until after our departure, the gardeners were back just two hours later.
While I was out getting groceries, I received a shocking call from the agency claiming my nearly 70-year-old husband had assaulted one of the gardeners and that the police were on their way. The mere thought of my elderly husband in an altercation with three large men while our two-year-old grandson waited in the car was terrifying. However, upon returning, we discovered the accusation was completely fabricated—there were no police, and no assault had taken place. When we contacted the agency to clarify, we were told that it was part of the contract we supposedly signed, allowing jardin and pool service personnel to enter the property at any time for maintenance. This was a complete surprise, as we had not agreed to or signed any such contract when booking via Airbnb. To make matters worse, on the day of our checkout, two pool maintenance workers entered the premises an hour before checkout, again without any prior notice.
2. Poor Communication:
From the moment we booked, communication with InterRome was virtually nonexistent. Emails went unanswered for days, and when they did respond, the information was either incorrect or incomplete. It was clear they had no idea what they were doing—or simply didn't care. This lack of responsiveness set the tone for the entire holiday.
3. Misleading Information:
The holiday package was advertised as a luxurious experience, but the reality was far from it. The accommodation was not as described, featuring outdated facilities and subpar cleanliness. The photos used in the advertisements were grossly misleading, especially in terms of the size of the kitchen and bedrooms. It was clear that InterRome had misrepresented the property, leaving us to deal with a situation that fell drastically short of our expectations.
4. Additional Fees:
We were shocked to discover additional fees for basic amenities like air conditioning in a poorly insulated house. This led to nights of sleeping with windows open, resulting in numerous mosquito bites. These hidden fees felt like a blatant money grab and left us feeling completely cheated.
5. 3rd Bedroom Disaster:
The "3-bedroom" accommodation was another major disappointment. After spending an hour searching for the third bedroom shown in the advertisements and receiving no response from the agency, we eventually discovered a windowless 'cave' room separate from the main house. This was not advertised and certainly didn't match the luxurious image they had sold us.
6. Lack of Customer Support:
When I attempted to contact the agency to resolve these issues, I was met with indifference and unhelpfulness. The customer support team was rude and dismissive, offering no solutions or compensation for the numerous problems we faced. It was painfully clear that once they had our money, they had no interest in ensuring our satisfaction.
7. Ruined Holiday Experience:
Overall, InterRome agency completely ruined what was supposed to be a much-needed break. Instead of returning home refreshed and happy, I came back more stressed and frustrated than before I left. The entire experience was a waste of time and money.
Conclusion:
I would never recommend InterRome agency to anyone. Their lack of professionalism, deceptive practices, and appalling customer service make them a terrible choice for planning a holiday. Save yourself the headache and choose a more reputable company for your travel needs.
This entire ordeal with InterRome agency has left me deeply disillusioned. What should have been a joyful time with family turned into a nightmare, all because of this agency's incompetence and dishonesty. I hope this review serves as a warning to others—avoid InterRome at all costs.

At the beginning we had to pick up the keys from Interhome at another place where we waited for a long time until we were able to go into the house.
The house is big and has a nice view but it’s very old including the furniture and especially the beds and matress are disgusting and it smells awful all over the house.
The courtyard entrance is very small and difficult to reach. Not recommended for big cars.
Towels were provided but we had to buy stuff like soap, detergent, etc by ourself.
Toilet flush was not ok and not enough chairs for the amount of people. The WiFi wasn‘t working well enough.
At the handover the women from Interhome was very rude and undfriendly and was searching for mistakes to withhold money from the deposit. We weren’t able to talk with her cause all she said was „I am not responsible you have to talk to the website“.
We would recommend the house only for people who are not sqeuamish. The house is in dire need of renovation so if a couple things would be renewed it would be okay but DONT BOOK IT WITH INTERHOME - the service and their employees are bad.
PS: you have to pay for the air condition additionally so it’s not included.

My favorite part of this villa is the wonderful view from the hilltop where vineyards,woods and fields can be seen. Highly recommend this, if you enjoy an authentic location away from busy areas.

I suspect they made up all the good reviews. Most terrible experience! Horrible home management company SCAMMING on deposits! Where should I start? Their price is expensive for one week’s stay in Sicily Italy, but their service is the opposite.
First, they asked us to collect the key somewhere which is 3 hours walk from the accommodation. When I rejected, the woman Anastasiia from Interhome company said I’m free to cancel the booking with 100% cancellation fee. Wow, what a nice response!
Then, when we first arrived, the host and Interhome company immediately required us to pay EUR 400 cash as deposit, which this additional fee is not found in the listing. This is also very odd they requested it outside of Airbnb, and specifically required CASH, which customers are not protected in anyway. We negotiated to pay via paypal , but they refused! Soon, they called more people from Interhome company and 6 strangers arrived to the villa, whom all demanded us to pay cash immediately, otherwise we can’t stay there. At this point, I didn’t feel like a guest anymore but a criminal. One man who doesn’t understand English was so mad he even rudely pulled all our luggages out, kicked our bags and asked us to ‘GO! GO. YOU NO WELCOME!’ We paid given that, but it’s an extremely bad experience and mood killing especially it happened on the first day! The female host and management company made everything non negotiable, and never treated customers as guests.
Third, this company prepared and required us to sign a document with our ID photographed on first day, ‘agreeing’ that they can kick us out ANYTIME during the stay but not returning the booking fees if they deem us disruptive. They made everything difficult and made us very uncomfortable.
Last and most important part, on the last day, it’s a HUGE difficulty and headache getting back our deposit. They knew we had a flight to catch, but when host’s niece came to check the place, he spent 30 mins on the phone discussing with the host about it. Then, the host pretended to ‘wire’ the money through the bank and gave us a screenshot, however I’m still awaiting to receive EUR 400 as of today!! It’s been a few days which normally is done same day. So it means the host has either reverted the transfer or it’s a scam! I’ve now asked help from Airbnb for the money back but what shocked me is: Interhome requested another 400 EUR for ‘extra service’ after seeing us requesting back the deposit!!!!! Seems like Interhome is really broke and tried to brag and cheat with monies anywhere possible. We shall involve all parties possible to have our deposit returned.
In overall, booking with Interhome is the worst decision I’ve made this year. First, you won’t expect to feel like a ‘guest’ staying with them, but like a criminal who is being told off and controlled. If you don’t agree on any rule they set, they wouldn’t communicate but call more people, and never leave you alone until you’re forced to obey. Also, you DO NOT expect to get back any of your deposit! The whole experience is a joke. If you don’t want to be watched, always controlled by the host and have your deposit SCAMMED, then 120% NOT RECOMMENDED.
