Advanced Photography Diploma

A great course for pushing yourself out of your comfort zone and getting constructive feedback. It was good to be able to study at my own pace and fit it around my full time job. It's been good to be able to develop my love of photography further.

Advanced Diploma in Photography course

The Advanced Diploma in Photography course has changed my photography skills and I have improved. This course helped me to look at my camera a lot more because before I was taking pictures in auto settings and now I am taking pictures in manual mode. I would recommend this course for anyone wants to become better photographer.

Top 1% of photography online educations

Excellent course and content. Quite possibly the best in Europe. Definitely on par with New York Institute if Photography for teaching quality. I've tried several companies in the UK to be able to make this claim and one in EU. Although photography qualifications are not recognised by employers, clients and customers are certainly happier knowing you have also studied your particular field. They can verify your attendance according to your certificate of competence.
Worth the money? Yes. Worth the time? Yes. Good investment? Yes.

you learn things that even experienced photographers don't teach you that help you avoid difficulties.

Really fantastic experience

As a beginner I found the course (Advanced Diploma in Photography) to be both challenging and informative; as a result my technical understanding definitely improved dramatically over the period i studied. Having the ability to access the material constantly and at your own pace was a real plus for me as I am in a very demanding job, travel extensively and I am what you could call a mature student! As a result time is at a premium and this course enables you to dive in at your own pace.

Tim, my tutor, was outstanding and his constructive criticism helped improve my photography between my first and last assignments without question. I found his editing tips extremely valuable. The only regret I had was that I didn't make the time to do the non-compulsory, practice assignments throughout the course. It was only during the interactivity with my tutor at the end of the course that I realised the value I had missed. I would encourage anyone who will take this course to fully participate in the non-compulsory assignments.

Thanks IoP for a great experience.

Great Course.

I found the Advanced Diploma in Photography to be a great and informative learning experience. The possibility to work at your own pace, combined with invaluable feedback and tutor interaction, allowed my skills to improved markedly over the duration of the course. It is also reassuring to know that further assistance/tuition is now available indefinitely.

Wow!

I enjoyed taking this course because of its flexibility and the knowledge it has added to my profession. Am in Malawi (A small and poor country in Africa), but I was still able to get professional and world class training in Photography. Thank you IOP.

Course Renewal Fees

The course on offer was very good but their customer services lack massively.

As several reviews have stated their courses has lapsed due to some T&C's that they wasn't aware of, I seem to have too. I didn't access the course due to personal reasons for over a year and when I returned I found out that they wanted £99 to 'activate' my course again.

I did contact the tutors stating that I hadn't agreed to such T&C's when I joined and still haven't been provided proof of this. I do feel let down by the course as it offers so much potential, but I fell like it's just a way of getting me to part with more money. If you offer unlimited time to complete it why does there have to be conditions attached?

Thank you for your feedback.

In your case, you have not accessed the course at all for almost 18 months.

The industry standard for course completion is a fixed 6-12 months. We are proud to be able to offer much more flexibility than the industry standard.

All you need to do to keep your account active is log in at least once per year. This will take no more than a few minutes of your time.

This will give you unlimited access to your course, tutor feedback and all the updates/ upgrades we regularly make.

You cannot sign up to an IOP® course without agreeing to the T&Cs, and we also remind our students regularly by email, highlight completion times in the welcome email, it is at the top of the course platform and on every course page.

If you have mitigating circumstances which meant you were unable to access the course, please email our Customer Services Team at admin@institute-of-photography.com.

Advanced Diploma of Photography

I'm delighted to say I have just passed the Advanced Diploma in Photography and I enjoyed all of it.
I have learnt so much, it was quick and easy to pass through the levels that I was already knowledgeable in giving me a brush up on technique but I soon got to the levels where it was all new and I took my time and used the practice tutor feedback section to evaluate my progress.
It was this feedback and tutor help that made the course for me, using the constructive criticism to constantly improve my subsequent images.
The whole course together with the Diploma in Image Editing, which I'm studying at the same, time has allowed me to progress from keen hobbyist to professional.
And finishing the course doesn't mean an end as the valuable course content and tutor help is continually available, all I have to do is make sure I log in at least once a year! Brilliant well worth the course fee.

Excellent course, well worth it!

I wanted to do a photography course as I'm a keen photographer but felt I needed some structure to develop my interest/skill further. I researched long and hard decided that the CPD recognition/accreditation together with the structured learning and practical assignments made the IOP course the stand-out option. I wasn't wrong and have enrolled on further courses with the institute.

Really great course!

I really enjoyed taking the diploma in photography course. It had relaxed time limits, so I was able to complete it over a long period of time around my GCSEs. I learned much more than I thought I would through taking the course - it covered a really wide range of areas and there were lots of resources, from the slideshows to the videos and links to other resources. I took notes throughout everything, so I now have an awesome binder full of everything I need to continue my love of photography.
The testing for each unit was also really great, as it was possible to retake the tests if necessary, and it was really accessible.

Definitely recommended to people who want an in-depth look into photography, without pressure!

Better than just really good - genuinely excellent!

Apart from being able to work on the Advanced Diploma course at my own pace, and being able to go back to earlier units at any time for a refresh, the unit content was excellent. Complex concepts were explained clearly with good illustrations so aspects were understood, not just read.
The course has given me both insight and confidence, and shown me how to make a good photograph even better. If you have more than a passing interest in photography, I cannot recommend this course highly enough.

Overall a worthwhile and interesting experience.

A thorough introductory/refresher course for some like me (60s, retired and needing a better understanding of digital photography) or for someone fairly new to photography who wants to improve their knowledge and technique. Covers a broad range of subjects with tests, practical exercises and provides opportunities for feedback from peers and tutors. Tests can be re-taken so no chance of failure. Diploma taken at the students pace (I took about 3 years!) as long as the site is accessed annually. A nice certificate on completion. Opportunities to take more advanced courses if required.

So much learnt

I started this course as a complete novice to digital photography. By the end, I cannot claim to be an accomplished photographer but I have a great deal more confidence and am not now embarrassed to publish photos through social media. The course is very well structured and covers all topics in surprising detail. There are tests and assignments at the end of each element with invaluable feedback from very helpful course tutors. A big bonus for me was being able to learn at my own pace. Tyere was never any pressure to move on. All in all, money very well spent and a course I would recommend to any other beginner. I will definitely be taking another of their courses.
