Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 594 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Consumers struggled significantly with the website interface and poor design, noting that search filters frequently fail to respect user preferences and return irrelevant results. Many users also felt deeply frustrated by repeatedly encountering unverified job listings, misleading postings, and dealing with unresponsive support systems. Though some reviewers were happy with the platform, pointing out that it successfully connected them with great employers and secure, legitimate, well-paying careers. A few other people also felt that recruiting talent through the site yielded very positive results and a consistently successful experience for their hiring needs.

Not allowed to look at Job Vancancies

tried looking for jobs, but they won't let me look unless I give them my mobile number and agree that they can call me and send messages whenever they want. So, I can not use this site. This should be known by business's who could be losing out on people who want to protect their privacy.

Hello, Barry! To ensure account security, our system requires verification by sending a code to authenticate users via mobile phone number. You can learn more about this in the following article from our public job seeker help center: https://uk.indeed.com/help/job-seekers/articles/32004295623437-verifying-your-phone-number?hl=en&co=GB.  At this time, we don't have additional verification methods available.  If you're able to access a mobile phone in the future, we encourage you to try again. In addition, we take security seriously! You can check out our Security page here: https://uk.indeed.com/security. Thank you for taking the time to leave us some feedback!

I don't know what happened

I don't know what happened, but this site has gone to the pits. Craig's list has more legitimate job postings. Indeed resume upload is too controlling. People don't put direct dates anymore for their jobs especially if you're in sales with a 20+ year career. Indeed should be sued for FORCING people to age themselves and preventing recruiters to look at them.

Hi there, thank you for sharing your feedback, we are sorry to hear that you feel this way. If you come across a posting on Indeed that concerns you please send us a email to socialcare@indeed.com with more details so we can ensure it is investigated.

When you upload a resume to use the Indeed resume, our system will try to fit your resume to our template, you are still welcome to apply for jobs using your original resume file if you wish. You just need to choose the "Upload a resume" option within your account rather than using the Indeed Resume option. When using your own resume file you are welcome to omit dates if you wish, we will ensure your feedback it shared internally about this relating to the Indeed resumes.

Hi there, to explain, Indeed’s search engine is built to surface the most relevant roles, but broad keyword matching or limited context can occasionally pull in unrelated results. We’re continually refining this so the right jobs show up first. To get the most relevant results, enter keywords between quotation marks related to the job you want (for example: "Social Media Manager").

We recommend updating your Job Alerts using a search between quotation marks to get the most relevant results.

We would advise checking out our Career Guide page: https://www.indeed.com/career-advice, there are some great resources here that will assist with all areas of your job search.

We hope this is helpful. Good luck!

Indeed does not bother to actually find the jobs /locations that you specified.

I have been very specific in the location where I am searching for a job. Apparently indeed is wasting my time by sending me jobs that are not in my location . I live in a mountain town and they are sending me jobs for Viking Cruise Line. I have been very specific in the type of jobs I want. Plus I do not want my jobs based on my previous job search for a different city .this website is just out of hand. It has been wasting my time so I have unsubscribed and we'll find jobs elsewhere I do not recommend it because there is no way to truly find a job within your location

Indeed Cares About The Money And Promoting Other Employers

that I worked for. I described in detail on how I was racially discriminated. Indeed rejected the post, said it doesn’t follow their guidelines. I gave 90% positive feedback reviews on the companies pay, hours. Vacation, sick time, etc. But, when it came to the favoritism, racial profiling, indeed did not like that and rejected the post. It seems it’s all about the money for indeed and not protecting people from a safe and healthy work environment.

Hi Tree, from our side, we can’t guarantee a specific number of qualified candidates or hires from any job posting. Candidate behavior depends on factors we don’t control (local labor market, competition, candidate preferences, etc.), so we’re not able to promise results, only to maximize your visibility and relevance based on the settings and content of your jobs.
That said, there are several areas employers can review and optimize to help improve performance:
* Job content and structure: Clear job titles, upfront pay information, shift details, and benefits can meaningfully increase clicks and applies.
* Location and radius: Ensuring the location and commute radius are set correctly can help you reach more relevant local candidates.
* Application flow: Streamlining the apply process (shorter application, fewer knockout questions) can reduce drop‑off from qualified candidates.

Indeed is a self-service platform, which means account holders are responsible for creating, managing, and monitoring their sponsored jobs and associated spending. This includes keeping track of active sponsorships and making any needed changes to pause or close jobs in order to avoid additional charges.

We'd recommend checking out our Help Center articles for employers, to assist you with all areas of posting a job and writing effective job descriptions to attract the right candidates. https://indeed.my.site.com/employerSupport1/s/?language=en_US

Awful

Awful. I'm a business owner, interested in hiring, and even though i'm a legit business, with a website, LLC formed, they took down my listing, without explanation. Because, you know, that's the professional way of conducting business. There are other platforms out there, Indeed isn't the only player in town.

No customer service telephone number

No customer service telephone number. I just got charged several hundred euro, when it should have been free. No way to contact them or ask questions.
99%of the contacts did not meet required needs.
Never again.

Edit: I already emailed. No reply yet.
I will no longer deal with companies that do not have human customer service easily accessible by phone.

EDIT:
They eventually called me. Gave me a €200 credit. Stupid me used indeed again. Once again, got a ton of responses with almost none meeting the job criteria. Got tons of phone calls from companies in India, and lots of harassment on WhatsApp. And once again, a chunk of money was taken from my account, even though I had sufficient credit to cover my bill with indeed. This is an AWFUL scam company with NO customer service.

I was contacted by a "recruiter from indeed" offering jobs that pay $100 - $500 per day for 30 minutes to one hour per day of work.

I have a screenshot that shows the image they texted to me and the phone number they used.

Hello, Troy! Job seekers are at the heart of everything we do at Indeed, and their safety and trust is a top priority. We are aware of scams involving individuals falsely posing as “Indeed recruiters” in an attempt to offer fake jobs or request personal information. These are in no way affiliated with Indeed. Please review the following article from our public job seeker help center: https://support.indeed.com/hc/en-us/articles/28360944766221-Text-Messages-or-Phone-Calls-Claiming-To-Be-Indeed-It-Might-Be-a-Scam#h_01J2M4SXG1HK5B5PCFFVTQF9ZR. Job seekers should be cautious of unsolicited phone calls or messages via text, messaging apps, social media, or email. Especially those from unofficial domains or offering salaries that may sound too good to be true. Indeed will never ask job seekers for sensitive information or payment to apply for jobs. We strongly encourage job seekers to stay vigilant and report any suspicious job listings or messages to us: https://www.indeed.com/help/job-seekers/contact/options?hl=en&co=US. Also, if appropriate, to local authorities. Thank you!

Indeed protects bad employers and strips workers of an honest voice

Indeed has really gone downhill, causing both businesses and candidates to abandon the platform. If a company is posting a job on Indeed, it is usually because they cannot find workers due to poor conditions at their own company.
Indeed’s strict review system allows outlaw companies who do not follow laws and regulations to take advantage of the U.S. workforce. They post jobs that barely comply with basic regulations while leaving affected workers with no honest voice, thanks to a heavy-handed review filtering system that scrubs the truth.

The most frustrating vendor I deal with…

The most frustrating vendor I deal with as an EMPLOYER

I’ve dealt with Indeed’s billing practices for over a year, across multiple products — sourcing, job boosting, subscriptions, etc. — and the experience has been consistently awful.

Every time I think I’ve canceled everything, another charge seems to appear. Their products are confusing to turn off, cancellation is unnecessarily difficult, and the entire platform feels designed to constantly push you toward another paid feature or upsell.

I run a business. I use plenty of subscription-based software. Indeed is the ONLY vendor where I routinely find myself asking, “What the hell are they charging me for now?”

Today was yet another surprise bill after I believed I had canceled all active services — followed by a 17-minute wait just to speak with someone about why they charged me.

At this point, I don’t trust Indeed’s billing system. That’s the biggest problem. As a customer, I shouldn’t have to constantly monitor my credit card, hunt through account settings, and contact customer service to make sure a service I canceled actually stops charging me.

For a company that sells services to small businesses, the experience feels remarkably unfriendly to small businesses.

If you use Indeed, watch your billing very carefully.

Hi there, it is important to note that Indeed operates on a post-pay billing cycle. This means that any charges accrued during a given month are billed to your credit card on the first day of the following month.

Therefore, even if you paused the job partway through the month, any balance accrued before the job was paused would still be charged at the beginning of the following month.

Having said that, we'd be happy to take a closer look at what happened. When you have a moment, please email us at trustpilot@indeed.com with some additional details so we can further assist. Thank you.

Hi Apolonia, and thanks for sharing your feedback.

We’re sorry the experience felt frustrating. We ask users to sign in and verify a phone number to help protect accounts, prevent fraud and suspicious activity, and keep our platform safer for job seekers and employers.

Your phone number is used for security purposes such as verification and account protection. We understand that this can feel like an extra step, and we appreciate you calling it out.

We’re always working to make the experience clearer and more straightforward, and your feedback is appreciated.

Hi, we completely understand and empathize with how tough and discouraging the job search can feel, especially when you're not hearing back from employers.
At Indeed, our mission is to help people get jobs. While we provide the tools and platform to connect employers with job seekers, hiring decisions and outreach are handled directly by employers themselves. That means we unfortunately can’t guarantee a response to every application.

We recommend checking out this resource on our Career Guide about what to do if you're not hearing back from employers: https://www.indeed.com/career-advice/finding-a-job/what-to-do-if-you-arent-hearing-back-from-employers. We wish you the best of luck in your job search!

Hello, Robert! Thank you for reaching out about your interest in dark mode! At this time, the Indeed website does not have this option. We are not sure if this option will become available. In the meantime, we have found Dark Reader for Chrome to work well on Indeed.com: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/dark-reader/eimadpbcbfnmbkopoojfekhnkhdbieeh/. Since Dark Reader is a third-party extension, Indeed is not responsible for color contrast violations when it is enabled. In particular, we noticed that the outlines around form elements such as checkboxes, radio buttons, toggles, and text inputs may be difficult for some people to distinguish. We appreciate your feedback on this, and we hope dark mode will become available on the Indeed website in the future!
