Written by the company

Imray Laurie Norie & Wilson Ltd was formed in 1904 when three private chart publishing firms amalgamated. Each of these London companies had a long history going back to the mid-18th century. James Imray and Son published an extensive list of charts and pilot books. RH Laurie and Sons was associated with charts published for the East India Company. Norie and Wilson, founded by JW Norie, whose Nautical Tables are still supplied to navigators across the world, produced charts and books on navigation and sold nautical instruments. Until 1939 we were based in the City of London, where long serving cartographers produced charts from copper plate engravings which were supplied to mariners throughout the World. For over a century Blueback Charts were the first choice of many shipping companies. Now based in St Ives in Cambridgeshire, Imray charts are produced digitally for printed and electronic editions by our drawing office team. Our catalogue of yachting charts is regarded by the sailing community as the most comprehensive available. Our paper charts are complemented by a growing list of electronic publications and high quality pilot books by leading authors.

Poor returns process

Bought some charts of the BVIs but they only cover part of the BVIs not the complete BVI as expected. Unfortunately there was no picture of the chart on the web shop page to do a pre check. Now the problem comes to return the item… process states contact sales to get a returns form. Sales respond with an out of office email, back in 3 days. Alternatively you can ring the Southampton telephone number, that just beeps twice and cuts you off.
My experience so far is bad, they are efficient taking your money poor at dealing with returns..

Excellent charts but....

I really like the charts and the chart collections. However I think their decision, as is the Admiralty's, to stop the production of physical charts flies in the face of all I was taught about safe navigation at sea. Another disappointment with imray is that the digital downloads are only available for one year. It would be far more reasonable to permit continued access to the digital version of the paper chart already purchased.

Exceptional Customer Service - 5 Stars

I contacted Imray about a problem with my online/app maps. Eliza was exceptional in her advice and help. She was even kind enough to provide me with a new map for the year ahead. Imray are always quick to respond to enquiries and have never let me down. Superb customer service.

Paper charts from Imray

Excellent experience with Imray. I ordered a number of Norwegian print on demand charts. The person I spoke to was competent, knowledgeable and friendly. The charts arrived the next day by courier. The service could not have been better.

Helpful and responsive

I have found Imray sales team to be helpful and responsive and am very pleased with their products. I use a variety of their apps and both paper and digital information which I find clear, simple to use on my Endurance 35

Storage Use

The fact that you can only store charts on the device's storage is severely constraining unless you have a high spec device. Just the charts for the English Channel take up over 4mb.

Very frustrating when you have a 128gb memory card sitting in the device but can't use it.

Doubt if I will renew my subscription.
